  2. Alright, lets just rehab him all year so he can develop a bionic arm. We don't need him this year, unless he's gonna hit.
  3. Well he could be discussing Dumbsty's departure.
  4. I wish he'd take calls from fans.
  5. Sure until you're going back to get your doctorate. Then stats aren't so much fun.
  6. I think he's written scathing articles that have mentioned the lack of OBP in the organizations philosophy. Which is awesome. Kudos to Bruce. But I have never heard ONE interview question asking Hendry about OBP versus guys who can run and catch the ball with tools. Something like "Why have focused on toolsy athletic players with speed, instead of guys that can get on base?" or "You are last or near last in OBP, SLG, OPS, Runs, RBI, HR, BB. How can that all be attributed to bad luck? Shouldn't a new approach of patience be advocated to those struggling, rather than aggressiveness?" or "your manager once said BB's are clogging bases. Do you see that as a negative rammification towards why this team has such a poor OBP?"
  7. MacPhail says some dumb thing about not driving runs in, Dusty complains about not getting breaks, Hendry says he has faith in Dusty. Clearly no accountability, but maybe these guys are really that stupid. How come no reporter has cited our statistics of being LAST or near LAST in OBP, SLG, BB's, Runs, etc. Where is the accountability that these idiots are being held to by the reporters? Really it's all we have left.
  8. Let me try to answer this again in a different way. Using a metric called a Z score, where you take an occurance (runs scored) subtract if from the mean, (average for the year in which the occurance happened) and divide the result by the standard deviation (also from the year in which the occurance happened), this year's CUBS team is arguably the worst offense in the National League since 1961. This type of measurement will adjust for different numbers of game played (i.e. the strike years) and for changes in runs scored league wide over the years (different eras in terms of hitting) since each occurance is measured against the rest of the league in the year in which it occured, rather than over the span of 46 years. A Z score of zero is exactly average. Scores above zero are above average, and scores below zero are below average. -2.4 is just pathetic !! Year Team Runs Lg Avg Std Dev Z score 2006 CUBS 164 217.88 22.436 -2.4013 1969 San Diego 468 657.50 81.254 -2.3322 1961 Philadelphia 584 700.00 50.522 -2.2960 1970 Philadelphia 594 730.92 59.689 -2.2938 1983 New York 575 666.08 41.106 -2.2158 1993 Florida 581 727.86 66.876 -2.1960 1989 Los Angeles 554 639.42 40.903 -2.0883 1982 Cincinnati 545 662.25 56.276 -2.0835 2003 Los Angeles 574 746.56 83.377 -2.0697 1964 Houston 495 651.70 78.512 -1.9959 1990 Houston 573 681.08 54.358 -1.9884 1985 San Fancisco 556 658.25 52.650 -1.9421 1965 New York 495 655.80 84.345 -1.9064 1967 New York 498 621.80 65.103 -1.9016 1973 San Diego 548 671.83 65.247 -1.8979 1977 New York 587 713.00 66.462 -1.8958 1971 San Diego 486 633.42 79.318 -1.8585 1999 Florida 691 810.38 65.048 -1.8352 1974 San Diego 541 672.50 71.976 -1.8270 1992 Los Angeles 548 628.25 44.572 -1.8004 1988 Atlanta 555 626.83 39.960 -1.7976 1995 St. Louis 563 666.36 57.576 -1.7952 2002 Milwaukee 627 719.75 51.777 -1.7914 1963 Houston 464 618.10 87.087 -1.7695 2004 Arizona 615 751.13 78.567 -1.7326 1985 Pittsburgh 568 658.25 52.650 -1.7142 1981 New York 348 419.58 41.820 -1.7117 2001 New York 642 761.63 69.897 -1.7114 1979 Houston 583 682.17 59.069 -1.6788 1987 Los Angeles 635 730.92 57.603 -1.6651 1982 Houston 569 662.25 56.276 -1.6570 1996 Philadelphia 650 758.79 66.868 -1.6269 1991 Washington 579 662.92 52.677 -1.5930 1975 San Diego 552 667.83 73.105 -1.5845 1967 Los Angeles 519 621.80 65.103 -1.5790 1980 San Fancisco 573 654.33 51.647 -1.5748 Dude there is a reason why I never want to take another Research Methodology and Statistics course. Z and T scores are the reason. It would be nice of you not to remind me that I WILL have to take one in the near future. Thanks for nothing Hornkohl.
  9. Wood had his velocity back? You can't be serious. He is consistently throwin 91-93 and sometimes hitting 94-95 with the wind blowing the same direction. Clearly, he does not have his velocity back and who knows if he will ever get it back. Wait, now there is a question as to whether or whether or not he will get it back? I thought you declared him damaged goods during your intensive medical evaluation with no chance of him gaining velocity back, say, after a few games and his arm getting used to the workload. Which way is it? Is it over or is not over for Woody?
  10. That's the worst idea I've ever heard in my life. Maybe so, but I know 15 NSBB'ers I'd give it to yesterday off the top of my head. Would you pay for the postage with your injury settlement? Overnight express my friend.
  11. That's the worst idea I've ever heard in my life. Maybe so, but I know 15 NSBB'ers I'd give it to yesterday off the top of my head.
  12. Actually that's incorrect. I clearly stated my innuendo about Prior being a "wuss" was incorrect in the thread you are referring to, after Goony's long and eloquent post about Dusty destroying Prior. I think neither Kerry nor Prior are wusses, and I just don't get why people want to get their panties in a bundle and assume things, when the EXACT same thing was said by the eXACT same people before Kerry's start on Tuesday - and Kerry himself was pissed off by Baker saying it. It doesn't make any sesnse to me. Sure he's gonna be pretty sore, much more sore than normal pitchers because 1) He head no spring training 2) He's had little work over the past year.
  13. http://cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060524&content_id=1469589&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc "Right now, [sunday's starter] is to be determined," Baker said. "We're going to see how he feels after two outings. He was a little stiff [Tuesday]. We'll see if he's going to feel good enough to do it on Sunday or if he needs to skip a turn." Sounds like the same thing they were saying about his start yesterday. Once again it was Baker and Rothschild saying one thing, and Woody coming in being "bristled" about the rumors saying everyone is sore after starts and he's going to be pitching.
  14. He's damaged goods. He won't fool anybody with a 91mph heater. Jesus christ. Can we WAIT for him to return to normal healthy form. He's had 2 minor league starts and 2 major league starts. Can we allow that before we deem his career to be ended? He hasn't pitched a whole lot, he's had surgery, yet his career is over and he's damaged goods? He's had 4 game experiences and one rookie league experience since last August. This entire Website needs a Jump to conclusions mat.
  15. Well supposedly he could have missed last night's start, but he pitched anyway. Source? My only problem with these threads is that EVERYONE jumps to the conclusion that ISNT starting (like the thread regarding yesterday's game) and in the processes look like idiots. Why not wait to see if he starts or not to estabilish whether or not Kerry is a wimp? ANyway, who cares. This team is awful Wood or no Wood.
  16. I'm with Glass Cow....this season has hit "funny bad." Laugh it up for the next five months. The season hit funny bad LONG before this series my friend.
  17. I really wish I didn't have tickets to this Saturday's game and the game on June 17th.
  18. "AJ your wife gives AMAZING head" If you keep yelling versions of the sexuality of AJ's wife, he's bound to say something to you.
  19. Ozzie sucks. However, I would give anything for Williams.
  20. And he got an extension.    :( :( :( :(
  21. Whose keeping track on how many wins Kerry wood SHOULD have at this point in his career?
  22. And who wants to bet that Ohman blows another win for Kerry (probably at 30 wins and counting now for Woody's career).
  23. So is Dusty going to try and ruin Woody's arm again?
