Lets' not take anything away from Cook, facing a hot team like the Cubs, and his handling them very nicely, he's having a good performance. And Marquis is matching him pitch for pitch. So, something tells me this game will go to the bottom of the ninth. I really don't get it. Since when has "giving up hard hit fly balls that hitters have barely gotten under" been the same as "matching him pitch for pitch" Fine, if oyu want to play technicality, Marquis was matching Cook, OUT FOR OUT. Is that better? What i was trying to say is that marquis wasn't doing anything besides getting lucky. Something tells me this is reserved for the whipping boy. If Z or Hill pitched the same way, no one would be saying anything (of course he's a crap-ton better, but the point is still the same). Luck is only thrown out there when the NSBB anointed whipping boys do well.

I forgot that all of NSBB's brilliant minds (who just happen to not be brilliant enough to have jobs in baseball) do. Pretty much always it seems. (I'm not saying I agree with yanking Hill, but seriously, people on NSBB think they know everything about baseball - sometimes it gets tiresome).

No, but any thread that gets bumped for the sole purpose of saying, "I told you so!" and then more people piling on has a great chance of being locked. The "Wood will be the greatest closer ever" thread was started Thursday had a number of posts Friday, Saturday and now today yet was locked by Banedon. For what reason? If it's because someone said "I told you so" or was being sarcastic, you're going to have approximately 127 locked threads in the next few months. I didn't post anything in there, it just seems extremely odd. 3 threads were bumped with the sole purpose of rubbing in the fact that Wood has done well. It was unnecessary. This one had been around the longest, and had recent posts, so it seemed like it was a good one to keep around. In any case, there isn't anything that would have been posted in there that can't be posted in here. The topics are quite similar. If there's 127 Wood threads bumped for this reason, than 127 locks it will be. But those who wanted to rip his chances without any legitimate basis for it WAS necessary? So in essence you can say anything you want about any player you want, and aren't held accountable for what you say? OF course people are going to feel vindicated when he does well, and it's human nature to want to express that vindication. I told you so is alot better, IMHO, than some of the personal sniping that goes back and forth. Sham Closer for president!
