  1. I'm not buying it until Reds44 states that a trade is eminent. Why does Reds44 always get crap? The rumor he posted was TRUE. Get over yourself. As to this rumor, where the hell would they put him? I mean no doubt, it would be cause for celebration, but WHERE?! Right field?! Maybe move Soriano back to center and Dunn to left? Who knows. Anyway, this is why I LOVE the trading deadline. :D PS. w00t! 6,000th post! :o Could Dunn be any worse in RF than Floyd is? I know Dunn is awful in left, but still, Floyd is awful in right.
  2. i'm sure it isn't true...but i can't help but get excited...
  3. To be honest, I don't really focus on the WC that much until later in August. But it's never too early to think about getting the division lead.
  4. If they don't get Griffey, and I don't think they will, I'd love to see Hendry move in on Tejada. You can platoon Fontenot/Theriot at 2nd while giving Tejada some time off at SS, and you can go with a permanent OF of Soriano-Jones-DeRosa.
  5. I honestly don't think we'll do anything, unfortunately.
  6. Before the Monday Cubs/Giants game on ESPN Phillips was going on and on about how Bud Selig should MAKE Bonds sit out until he hits 756 at home. Seriously.
  7. Why should it be stickied? This is mostly common knowledge, or you can find it at Cubs.com, Yahoo.com, ESPN.com, CNNSI.com, etc. etc.
  8. All Times Central •Giants (Zito) @ Brewers (Vargas) - 1:05 PM •Phillies (Durbin) @ Padres (Peavy) - 3:05 PM •Mets (Hernandez) @ Dodgers (Stults) - 3:10 PM •Cardinals (Thompson) @ Braves (Reyes) - 7:05 PM - ESPN
  9. I remember watching that game somehow, I dunno if ESPN switched over to it or if it was on national broadcast or what, but it was an amazing game.
  10. That's stinks. Who hit him? Cliff Lee.
  11. Sammy was honored tonight for his 600th HR. And then left the game after being hit in the head again...
  12. When was his last HR? June 25th. His OPS has dwindled from .858 on July 1st to .806 coming into today.
  13. Weak Links Catcher (Soto for Hill would help but it's still weak) Bullpen (Wood+Guzman for Eyre+Petrick) 3rd & 5th OF (Murton/Floyd Platoon in RF, Pie or Lofton in CF to replace JJ+Pagan) Bench/SS (Cedeno) Overall: SLG - Dunn or Griffey for Murton, JJ, and spare parts. Fair point. But really, 3 of those aren't "weaknesses" they're just mismanagements, according to you at least . . . we have the players to plug into the roster, we're just not doing it. And that is different from years in the past. Agreed. Which points out the weakest link of all: GM you know who'd be a good GM? Adam Dunn. Hendry + Eyre for Dunn?
  14. As RynoRules said, if he'd come cheaply I'd be for it. I wouldn't even think about giving up E-Patt for an average rental like Byrnes.
  15. Cubs looking like they can gain ground all over the place tonight!
  16. Except Stairs can hit HRs. Historically, when both have gotten a decent amount of playing time they've each hit around the same number of home runs and had similar slugging percentages. Very true, I guess I should've just specified this year. Stairs has 13 I think, and Ward has 0. I can't even recall Ward ever coming close. I love having Ward on the team, he's done a great job, but if we could land a guy who gets on base like him and can hit for some power, I think we'd have to for the right price.
  17. Gameday has seemed wonky all day. They were all fairly close pitches. The strike two call was a little high and outside, I was watching the Live coverage on BBTN (I flipped over so I could see Bonds hit), and the SF announcers said that hasnt been called a strike either way all night. The strike 3 call was definitely a strike.
  18. i love this. all i wanted out of this series was 1 giants win. if they hold on, we could split the last 2 with AZ and still only be 3.5 gb at the most (not that i want that to happen, but i definitely want to stay about 4 gb)
  19. Hahhaha. I was looking at old game threads and the one from the 6/25 game where the Cubs blew it against the Rockies and then won in the bottom of the 9th has the title of: "6/25 - nevermind, cubs win"
