    I have a strong sense of optimism that Hendry is going to land Griffey, and I also have an equally strong feeling of sickness that Hendry is going to either stand pat, or worse, get someone like Payton.

    You can't be serious. This post doesn't really even deserve a response. What a joke. Fanboys, LOL. LOL @ you thinking I'm a Dunn fanboy. Right. I was actually calling the fact that you'd base your decision on whether or not the Cubs should get one of them (I'd prefer Griffey, FWIW), on what they did this weekend a joke. The mere suggestion that anyone should no longer discuss or consider (or hope for) the possibility of one of them coming to the Cubs based on what they did in this series is completely and utterly laughable. Thanks for playing. Plus, the stupidest thing about all of this is that neither one of them wouldn't be facing the Cubs anymore.

    This is one of the dumbest things I've ever read on here. Will you be able to go on living next week when the Great Adam Dunn isn't a Cub? Goodness, the Cubs have no chance without him! The whole Adam Dunn circle jerk--THAT is the dumbest thing I've ever read on this site. It's moronic, it's imbecilic, and it's beyond boring. Yeah, I think I'll be ok. I'm not an Adam Dunn fan boy by any stretch of the imagination, but I am intelligent enough to notice that an OF of Soriano-Jones-Dunn is light years better than having Floyd in that OF. If you think this team doesn't get better with Dunn or Griffey out there, then you need to get your head checked.

    I don't know if I'd go as far as saying most, but a lot did.LOL...funny how that changed so quickly. :lol: It's not hard to change when the guy in question goes from an arrogant, teammate-fighting, not good pitcher back the fun, exciting Ace pitcher that he should always be.

    So? Then we take over first by the end of next week and we build the lead up even bigger over both them and the Brewers. I understand it's the Cardinals and we hate them at all, but I want to be in first place, I don't care who has to win for us to make that happen.

    If he's moved in a package for Dunn or Griffey, it's for better. If he's moved for Payton or Conine, it's for worse. Hopefully it's the former.

    This is pretty much exactly what I was going to say. This team has a serious chance to compete for a World Championship this year if they add another big bat. Standing pat and just resigning Z, albeit nice for the future, does nothing to improve our chances this year.

    murton wasnt a late scratch today. He wasnt in the lineup at all today, "supposedly" he will start tomorrow Okay, you're right, but still, I thought Murton was "supposed" to start today. And I'm surprised a lot of you guys are giving Hendry that much credit. If he acquired Payton, I would not be surprised at all if it were Payton + Cash for Murton. Yea he was. But Len gave some excuse for Lou as to why he wasnt starting, since Lou wanted to give Floyd and Jones a day off. He wanted to get another lefty in the lineup, but also keep DeRo in. So Fontenot(he of the sub .600 OPS since the All Star Break) got the start at 2nd with DeRo in right. And Im not giving Hendry any credit, as it wouldnt surprise me at all if the trade you described happened. Gotcha. I missed the first 3 innings, so I didn't hear the whole explanation. Like I said, Payton sitting isn't much to take stock in, but with all the rumors I thought I'd throw it out there.
