  1. http://www.mercurynews.com/giantsheadlines/ci_7669450?nclick_check&nclick_check=1 A little surprised SF is really considering this. I mean they obviously need hitting, but I still wouldn't trade a potential ace who's worst case scenario is an above average number 2. Lincecum's worst case scenario is career ending injury, and it's not that far fetched.
  2. Go get him, Jimbo. There's a lot of eggs in that basket now.
  3. The AP is reporting 10 million guaranteed with 1 million in performance incentives on top of that. Gagne could be good, but there's just as good a chance he will be terrible like he was down the stretch. Giving him 10 mil guaranteed is pretty silly, IMO. Link
  4. That and the Ramirez trade may be the two best I have seen in my years as a Cubs fan. Well, aside from the Sandberg trade.
  5. It's not a matter of being smart anymore, but having perceptive abilities slightly greater than that of a fossilized turd. Unless this is your first day at NSBB.
  6. If the Brewers want to pay 10 million for one year of Gagne, I say let them. If they want to invest 10-15% of their payroll in the empty husk of a once great reliever, I'm all for it.
  7. Right, because I am sure he hasn't looked into it, and that none of his friends and colleagues know anything about it either.
  8. I guess he picked the wrong year to have his worst season. Wasn't Boras talking about 5 years and $100M just three weeks ago? Yes, but that was Boras talking.
  9. What makes this deal bad is that it makes the Pierre deal even worse.
  10. Dang, you beat me to it. Andruw for 18 million per? I wouldn't have thought it possible before the Hunter deal.
  11. Like Colt Brennan, Harrell won't win because he will be viewed by many as a system quarterback.
  12. I think it will take at least Gallagher and Murton, and I don't think that is particularly unreasonable.
  13. According to what I heard Kap say tonight, the plan would be to have DeRosa play 1 day a week at 2B, 1 day a week in the OF (either Soriano or Fukudome getting a day off), 1 day a week at a corner infield spot, and then the rest of the time be a bench option. For whatever reason the Cubs really seem to think he is more valuable playing 3-4 days a week than 6-7 days a week. It's stupid. Replace Theriot with DeRosa in a lineup that includes Roberts and Fukudome, and you have a likelihood of getting a .350+ OBP from 7 of the 8 everyday positions.
  14. Somewhat OT, but would you think about batting Soriano 3rd or 4th so he gets better pitches by being in front of Lee and/or Ramirez? I would. Soriano isn't a good hitter w/o protection, and Fukudome is an unproven commodity. I'd put him between Lee and Ramirez. Provided the Cubs don't get Figgins, but do get Kosuke and Roberts, I'd stack it like this: Roberts Fukudome Lee Soriano Ramirez Pie Soto Theriot
  15. If you got 2007 Roberts and Figgins, that's a very good lineup.
  16. Chone Figgins in CF? Is he serious? What can Figgins do in CF that Pie can't? I don't get it. Not much, though he did have an OBP of .393 last year, which would look awfully nice at the top of the order. Of course his career OBP is only .354, and he has less power than Pie.
  17. If the Cubs landed Kosuke, Roberts and Figgins, the Brewers could forget about the division in 2008. That said, I don't see Figgins happening, and I'd like to see Pie get his shot anyway.
  18. I have a 60 GB, and I have played more PS2 games than PS3 games on it so far. And all have played flawlessly. Unlike the 360, the PS3's backwards compatibility (if you get a model that has it) is universal.
  19. I'd be happy if Felix ends up a .270/.350/.410 guy. His defense also makes him valuable.
  20. Maybe it's going down and he needs more time to gather info? Or maybe he has obligations other then filling us in. Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at. I'm sure doing his job takes precedence over placating a message board.
  21. Maybe it's going down and he needs more time to gather info?
  22. Rotoworld was speculating that it was EPatt & Hill or Felix Pie & Sean Marshall/Sean Gallagher Eww. I'd do Patterson and Marshall/Gallagher, but not Pie and certainly not Hill.
  23. Yes, the ultimate shame.
