  1. This game looks over to me. Purdue looks nothing like themselves. What an inopportune time to [expletive] the bed.
  2. Dammit Purdue, get your [expletive] together.
  3. This is just ridiculous.
  4. I'm kinda of the mind that the refs probably should have swallowed the whistle on the second one. I think you have to understand the consequences of your actions, and essentially giving the game to Butler because Howard was a little obstructed in an attempt to wheel and throw the ball 85 feet doesn't seem very just to me. I think saying a little obstructed is underselling it. His left arm was being held down as he grabbed for the ball to heave. It's not like Brown had a great look from 45 feet when Mack fouled him. If Mack didn't hip check him then Brown would've been able to get to the 3 point line with his momentum and the time remaining. I'm not even sure they blow the whistle on the second one at all if Howard didn't flop like a dead fish. Howard was clearly fouled. He flopped a bit, but it was absolutely a foul.
  5. This, no way should that be called. The problem is that the first foul wasn't much of a foul, either. In the final equation, I don't have a problem with the end of the game because one dumb foul negated the other. The end result was Butler up by one, which was the scenario at the start of the sequence. I don't think Pitt was wronged at all.
  6. That's true. But what I wonder is that if Soto gets hurt, who will get those starts? Thing is, Geo has averaged about 104 games the past two years, so what confidence do we have that he will be able to make 140 starts, if they really intend to give him that many? Koyie hill starting 20 games interspersed throughout that season isn't a big deal. Having him start 50-60 starts to drag on the offense. You'd like to think that if Soto gets hurt, the Cubs would be wise enough to bring up Castillo to start games (and not to back up Hill), but I'm not so sure they would. But it is probably true that Castillo would be better served starting in Iowa (if for no other reason but to raise his trade value), but then you have Max Ramirez, who is also a better choice than Hill. And what will happen to Ramirez? Isn't he out of options?
  7. That was glorious. It's also the reason I don't put money on the NCAAs - I have nothing tempering my enjoyment. I didn't buy Pitt as a title contender anyway, and I love seeing the Big East teams going down.
  8. Oh look, another hit for Castillo.
  9. This has to be the coup de grace for Silva's rotation chances.
  10. The MLB network is so freaking bad. I briefly saw a 30 clubs in 30 days episode, I can't remember which team. Harlod Renyolds unloaded this gem (parahprasing), "In order to be more consistent they need to get better as a team". What the [expletive] is that supposed to mean? I think that was just Harold's attempt to take over for Joe Morgan's role of a vet who has no business commenting on baseball. Not sure how Harold can be this guy when the show also has Mitch Williams sitting right next to him. Yeah, Mitch is an absolute moron. My favorite was when he was saying he wouldn't trade Ryan Howard for Pujols straight up. MLB Network is a mixed bag, totally depending on who is on any given show. It's still much better than ESPN.
  11. If Soto doesn't start at least 120 games, it'll be pretty bad. Hill is a black hole, and having him get 250 PA again would be a bad thing for the offense. And it's not annoying Hill will win the job, it's ridiculous.
  12. And he'll probably still be sent back down so Koyie Hill can stay on the team. :-x As Castillo hits a 2-run double, raising his average to .692. And Hill strikes out to go 0-2, dropping his average to .043.
  13. I forgot: Castillo threw out Figgins from his knees on the strike-him-out/throw-him-out DP. And also had 2 more hits. Hes now hitting over 600 for the spring while Koyie Hill is 1 for the spring.... And a homer today for Beef Wellington, average up to .667.
  14. He did? My TV shows LA 1 Cubs 0 It's split squad today.
  15. I know, it's painful to think of the possibilities that couldn't happen because of Tommie's injuries. I agree -- let's focus on getting Jay the protection he needs and see how far he can take us. If Angelo doesn't focus on the o-line (and probably WR after that), people need to gather pitchforks and torches.
  16. Not to beat a dead horse, but another solid day for catchers not named Koyie Hill.
  17. lalalalalalallalaCAN'THEARYOUlalalalalalalalalala
  18. If it were up to me, I'd frontload the deal. Pay him 36-37 for the first 5-6 years, and then taper it way down as he approaches 40. That way, the bulk of his deal will be paid out when our young guys are still cheap, then decreases in AAV as they start making bucks in arbitration.
  19. Because Max Ramirez has hit about as well as Koyie Hill the last couple if years in the minor leagues? Because he's not much of a defensive catcher? And Castillo? And Ramirez can at least suck at multiple positions. But seriously, Wellington Castillo should be the backup, and it's not particularly close.
  20. oh that was the season you pretended to be a hockey fan so you could bandwagon onto a title contender To be fair, there was a lot of that going around.
  21. In retrospect, I'm glad I saw the game I did. That Camp Colvin stint paying dividends for LaMahieu.
  22. Koyie Hill still hitless on the spring.
