  1. Finally someone asks Lou about Marmol fatigue. What the hell is he talking about learning experiences for? It's about Marmol not having the stuff he used to have dammit!!!
  2. As in: Uh, Mr. Lou sir, sorry to bother you but do you think using Marmol or at least not taking him out was not up to par with your usual brilliance? I'll go sit in the corner now. I'm actually enjoying Plesac's commentary. For his failings, he's right here. Carlos has lost the movement on his slider. After watching the replays, those are spinners, not hard breaking sliders (I couldn't watch the game live). He's going to continue to get hit like this. The fact that the Gnats could only get singles off him is immaterial. They could very well have been homers with good hitters.
  3. Carlos should not pitch for the Cubs again until it can be definitively understood what is wrong with him, and fixed. Discuss. Seriously -- if it's an injury 5 days off won't help. I think there's a chance there is an injury. Not a huge chance, but why take a chance with a young pitcher's arm? Marshall can be the 8th inning guy until Marmol is ready again, we'll be fine.
  4. It's a rare day when I feel such an even mix of anger and happiness. It should never have come to that. It was such a glorious day. Buzzkill is the word that immediately comes to mind. Unfortunate, because it didn't need to be that way at all. Of course, winning in the 11th is exciting and all, but I wanted the triumphant Harden shutdown start to be the story.
  5. So let me guess: because we won, nobody will really take Lou to task for the decision to leave Marmol in. Right?
  6. It's a rare day when I feel such an even mix of anger and happiness.
  7. ROFL. All I can do is ROFL. It's just too out there man. Now I *KNOW* I'm drinkin' tonite. But with a little better disposition.
  8. yeap, wheel play. I was too late to say it before it happened though.
  9. Yeap. I'm past the shock and anger stages now, heading into depression.
  10. I guess....Marshall was warmed up for the last half of the inning but Lou didn't make the switch. It was really bizarre. I would say Lou had a deer in headlights look, but he came to the mound twice that inning ...the second time with the trainer to see if he was ok to continue. Really really bizarre. It's really, really bizarre how bad Marmol has been. It's not the same pitcher. Wow! What a hook by Marshal! Not all that bizarre IMO. Tired arm, can't get the break he used to get, can't control what he used to control.
  11. I need some kind of written guarantee at this point.
  12. It'll make the day at least a little better with a win If by a little better you mean not vomit inducing, you may be right. But seriously, it'll be fine. The Crew probably loses tonight. They're good at home regardless of the pitching matchups, but obviously I'm hoping you are right.
  13. untrue. Yes it is. He has horrible range, a horrible arm, and has made numerous poor decisions in the field. he's a little below average. i guess if you want to ignore all the fielding metrics and say that he's horrible at everything, that's your prerogative. Yes, because we all know how reliable and accurate fielding metrics are. generally they're more reliable and accurate than someone losing his mind after a poor play. Okay so he exaggerated when he called him "horrible", but he's right that Theriot is not good defensively. He's below average for starting shortstops. Fine, but this whole thing was precipitated by a false supposition. This game is not Theriot's fault, it's Lou's.
  14. I don't think I could handle watching this thing on TV right now, so I guess from that standpoint I'm thankful. What a stupid day this is. I'm definitely going to get drunk tonight.
  15. No, but I've got a bottle of Jack I'm going to start working on in a few minutes.
  16. I blame Marmol. I blame lou for not taking marmol out. i don't blame theriot. He was desparate, and he saw that marmol was sucking. It was not a good decision, but I understand it. It was a terrible decision. He was on his back and a runner was on third base. If he botched that throw, the runner could score easily from third. I don't understand it at all. Yeah that was an awful decision. Even if he some how made a perfect throw, one that has maybe a 5% chance of being perfect, I'm not sure if he gets the out in time anyways. He's trying to save his team from Lou. I don't blame him for trying something desperate. It was desperation time. If he holds on to the ball Marmol gives it up anyway in all likelihood. That was probably our only chance to win the damn game. I don't crucify players for trying to win. I do crucify managers for putting the other team at an advantage they shouldn't have.
  17. ....and Milwaukee erupts in laughter. Thanks Lou!
  18. The thing is Marmol should be able to get 3 giants out without giving up 5 runs anyways. Theriots play should have never happened if Marmol does his job. Theriot's trying to end the game in an obviously tough situation. It's Lou's horrible managing and Marmol's shredded arm that is to blame here, not Ryan
  19. Trying to decide whether it's worth my time to follow the rest of this turd. Bad baseball is one thing. But handing games to the opposition is not really worth my time.
  20. Yeah but that's not the point. Lou's an idiot for letting Marmol continue to blow up out there, regardess of what Theriot does. The man's arm is swiss cheese, Jesus.
  21. Someone needs to call Lou to task for this. This is horrible managing, period. Thanks for ruining Harden's first outing Lou. Now we're going into extras probably with no pitchers. Chances are good this is now a loss. NICE JOB.
  22. See? This is what I'm talking about. Harden pitches lights out in his debut, but the national media can't help themselves but to paint it with storm clouds looming overhead. Suck it losers.
