  1. Bill Hall's stance looks really forced & contrived to me. Like someone who didn't have clue once told him it looked cool. He pulls out of it way before the ball arrives too. Doesn't really do anything productive at all. It's silly.
  2. He implied it was smart to not waste money on a retread. But he has still decried their overall situation and the lack of attempts to fix it, primarily through the draft. It was stupid to not draft QBs in recent years. It was not stupid to avoid Pennington and others. But they must fix the development portion of the puzzle or drafting QBs will not likely yield the results they want. Unless the guy is simply good enough to succeed in spite of the coaching/teaching. I know you addressed this earlier, but I just wanted to re-point to it here. They must have the people ready to take that draft talent and hone it for the NFL, on the offensive side of the ball.
  3. Yep. I blew it on the fact that we don't play tonight. LOL, I suck
  4. I'm with you, but I'm also like..."DAMN Jerry, start turning this thing around enough already."
  5. He's picked twice in the late first and once in the top five. And one of those late first picks was due to the team's record before he took over. His other times he's picked in the middle or traded out to the 2nd. right, but to judge his record on top 1st round picks when he's had one top 4 pick is jumping the gun abit. It was a horrible pick, one that much of Chicago anticipated he was going to make and was begging him to reconsider. He would screw it up again, I feel certain of it. The best pick he's had in the 1st round was Tommie Harris @ 14. That's what I'm basing it on. Harris essentially fell into his lap. I dont know, to argue which set of juggling pins to give to the jester is abit unnerving in itself. why cant we just get rid of the clown entirely? LOL, nicely said. I'm coming to that conclusion myself. I'm resisting it a bit.......he did somehow assemble a pretty good ballclub a couple years back. Was it just a mirage? It was 2 straight years of playoff football, that's got to count for something right? Or should it? Blah.
  6. I think it's a very good idea to win tonight. Anyone disagree?

  8. 6-28, what is this, tennis? :D) Maybe the Bears should go to a spread offense since they have had so many problems with finding a QB, I'd like to see how it would work in the pros. First order of business there would be to fire Turner, because he wouldn't run it. That would be a good start no matter what offense you would want to run. I can't say I'd be upset. I'm trying to keep expectations low on this one. If we lose but keep it close I will focus on the positives from the game, because I feel like there will be positives to talk about if we are competitive. You'd rather go 6-10 than 2-14? Given the cost/benefit of top picks, I'd say that's a defensible position. LOL, yeah Jerry seems to do better when he's mid first round than when he's top 5.

  11. I'll put the losing streak aside. I'm more anxious about the reality of both Z and Harden's arms.
  12. Glad to have football season back. Not very optimistic about this game though.
  13. They've been playing tomato cans for the past month. There are 3 series I recall where they played solid ballclubs: Cubs -- got swept Dodgers -- lost 2/3 Mets -- got swept These are teams they would likely face in the playoffs, not the Nats or the Pirates. How did they match up? Not all that well from where I'm sitting. Not all that well.
  14. I want to see how the Z & Harden things play out before making any judgments because that will affect my expectations once we do get into the playoffs. It's not about winning the division or getting the Wild Card. It's about erasing that 100 year drought. I don't care how the hell we get in. I care about how much damage we can do once we're there.
  15. Alright with the Cubs on a 4 game bender I'm starting to crave some football talk.
  16. Bears pick up OL help: http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=5079 OG from UW -- he's been recovering from knee surgery for the past year, says he's finally healthy again. He did start for Tampa before he went down.
  17. It will be great to finally get the season started, even if things don't look too good for my team.
  18. The update on 1070AM this morning was that Sheets will make his next start.
  19. What do you think Lou would do if it was Harden? That would be an interesting decision.
  20. We happen to have run into some pretty solid pitching these past few days. That ends tomorrow with the horrid Backe: 5.42/78/1.575 Remember who you are facing, Cubs. Don't turn Backe into anything more than what he is.
  21. I don't see how we can lose the wild card either. It's one thing to be overtaken by the very hot and good Brewers with a 4.5 game lead in the division. It's quite another to be overtaken by lesser teams with like a 10 game lead. And for the record, I'm ambivalent about facing the Mets/Phils as the WC team or facing the DBacks/Dodgers as the division winner. Either way I think we have a significant advantage.
  22. I can't believe how bad Craft was, and how good he finished.
  23. Blahahahahah.
  24. My God what the hell are those, fish skin wraps? Now I'm not hungry anymore. Thanks vance, you did my diet good! 8-)
  25. I don't agree with Sabathia throwing this many CG (except for today) but why is this just assumed that Sabathia got lit up from being overused? He did face the 2 of the best teams in the AL last year in the postseason. Okay, I guess he just can't beat good teams then. Anyway a point I saw brought up on BTF is that a big part of a no hitter is holding on to it as you start counting down outs late. CC didn't have that pressure because of the hit. He didn't have to worry about making his perfect pitches because he had nothing to pitch for. (And a logical manager wouldn't have had him pitching to begin with. Well obviously thats part of it, but if MLB does overturn the call its not going to matter because it will count as a no hitter. Yes, but SSR's point is a good one and I hope MLB takes it into account. Should CC get a no-hitter when he didn't really have to go through the same circumstances as others who have gotten no-hitters? It should make it into the discussion at least.
