  1. It's not like he wasn't getting outs last night. He pitched pretty darn good, outside of the one little blip. It was only 2 runs. Pujols doubles off everyone. I'm not worried based off last night's performance at all. It was a pretty good outing.
  2. Mike & Mike were talking about what might happen if one of the games is made up at the end of the season. For all of our hand-wringing in Chicago, nationally people expect that the Central race is all but over with the Cubs holding a 5.5 game lead heading into the final 2 weeks. If the Cubs' lead holds, then that game tacked on to the end of the season could get real interesting. The Cubs would probably send all of their scrubs out there, and Houston might be in a position where they would put their "A" squad on the field. And how would that go over in Milwaukee and Philadelphia if Houston is able to tack on a game at the end that is close to a sure thing? Not that I care, but I would be very interested to hear the talk here in Madison & Milwaukee if it comes down to that. Certainly we aren't going to deny our best players the rest just to humor the Crew & Phils.
  3. Cedeno could get hot too. I think it's wishful thinking that Lee might get hot again (i.e. starts hitting for power). He's been too cold for too long. Maybe he strings together some singles. I can hope for that.
  4. I'm more interested at this point in finding out what happened to the guy. His fall from productivity was much quicker and pronounced than other hitters. Something had to have happened. Could it be the wrist? I don't know -- he was productive after that wrist injury, at least for a time. So I just don't know.
  5. Except that Lou obviously doesn't buy into that philosophy because he moves everyone else around in the order. So that doesn't explain why he won't move Lee down. And I support a move down for Lee, because there are better bats who would get more PAs.
  6. Well let's go there then, for the sake of argument. Would Ricketts be bad, good? I really don't have much knowledge of the guy. But it's not like Cuban is the *only* possible good owner for the Cubs.
  7. From what I've seen, Harden's fastball velocity is around 93/94 when he want to sting it. He did that a couple times last night. Look, the man uses his fastball for a lot of different situations. It's not like he has 4 pitches to go to. He switches up the velocity on his fastball all the time because it makes it much more effective. That said, it's pretty obvious his arm is fragile, and he is sensitive to any pain he is feeling. So we've got to live with that. We did know that coming in to this deal though.
  8. Well it's a different matchup for us than the Colts. That's what worries me the most. I do like that SD was able to pass on them. I'm not sure how the pass rush matchups will go. I know Pep is good, but we can compensate if it's just one guy. I suggest we switch our running game to the outside to stay away from their interior line. We won't have the luxury of going up against smaller DTs this game, but that doesn't mean we can't get some room for Forte to run. It just has to be done differently. It's such a different opponent I can't say the Colts game means much of anything in terms of any kind of prediction about this one.
  9. The most interesting thing about that article is the Ricketts bio. I didn't realize he was so young (42). The rest is just blind speculation.
  10. Just give me one win against these guys. I'm not going to be greedy about this one. The Crew aren't going to steamroll the Phils in their last 3, I think. 1 win. I don't care which game.
  11. We're going to outnumber Astros fans in friggin Timbuktu. Might as well rule out EVERY non-Houston city. Heck we might outnumber them in Houston. Astros fans aren't going to see baseball games in this crap. They have enough trouble getting their fans out to the ballpark when it's Sunny & 80. Meanwhile Vance is debating driving through a hurricane to see his Cubs. The Stros are just being stupid.
  12. struggle struggle struggle press press press
  13. Monday's now spoken for. Where the hell would they put this game if it rains hard?
  14. They just want to play in that stadium at all costs because they think they will make the playoffs and they think it will give them a big advantage over the Cubs.
  15. What the mutha frak? They're really going to do this? Seriously? Have 2 major league teams huddle in an evacuated city through a hurricane so the Stros can make their *GATE*?!?
  16. I decided to drive through the remnants of hurricane Ivan a few years ago to get to Atlanta for a concert. Big mistake. There were these idiot truckers all over the road going like 70 MPH up & down mountainsides and everything. Horizontal rain, big time winds even though it had been downgraded to a depression. I saw 3 trucks crashed alongside the road, and still they wouldn't slow down. My advice -- don't drive through this mess to get to anything. Some people have no concept of what's going on, and your life could be in danger because of it.
  17. Think of it this way. For 4 straight days, one of the magic numbers will be going down no matter what. If we win that day, then one of the numbers goes down by 1, and the other by 2. So let's win some damn games.
  18. If the pass rush is good, I have my doubts Orton would be able to consistently beat Carolina deep to the WRs. However, the strength of the Bears passing game is looking more and more like it is the TE's and possibly the RB's out of the backfield, so covering the WRs is probably not going to have the desired effect since the Bears don't *appear* to be looking for a lot of deep passes to WRs right now. And I don't see many LBs being able to cover Greg Olson 1 on 1. Dez is quite capable of getting open too. This is based off one game though, so it's not a real clear picture.
  19. color me skeptical. jesus christ...fred miller, seriously? At least he'll be a backup, not a starter. But he'll probably get rotated in there on occasion. why dont they just put a jersey on a tackling dummy. same thing really. Lay his jersey on the field, hope they trip over it.
  20. Mass exodus from Houston. Mass exodus TO St. Louis or KC
  21. Yeah, he should have bunted Pena there

  23. HAHAHHAHA ... what is Francona smoking? They're in the 12th at home, that probably greatly played into his decision. I'm not going to try and run the numbers, but I think that was a ridiculous move. Didn't work either.
  24. That puppy's rolling right at Houston. No way they play all the games there. I wonder if Houston will insist on that Friday day game to try and get 1 home game out of the deal. Then hurry everyone out of there to parts unknown for the final 2. This is going to be crazy.
  25. The playoff magic number is now under 10. Nice.
