  1. teams are scheming towards Fotre, they believe he is our only weapon until Orton proves them wrong consistently. It'll take more than 5 games. I don't think teams believe Orton is really good yet. They'll make a few adjustments, see if he can handle it. I would imagine you'll see 8 in the box for many more games before teams become convinced. If I was a DC, I'd start throwing more creative and intense blitzes at Orton first. I also think Bear fans should temper their enthusiasm a bit. Not that I think Orton sucks, but remember we saw this sort of thing from Grossman in '06 too. Then teams dialed up the blitzes and it was over.
  2. I mean there's good reason for optimism but this is the Lions. Next week isn't much better. Beating the Falcons won't really mean all that much either. The Eagles win was the one that gives me some hope, because even though Westbrook was out, it's still a well-coached ballclub with a pretty good QB and a solid D.
  3. I don't think I'm ready to say they're definitively good yet. They might be good, but what we really learned today is that Detroit is the NFC blood-brother of the Raiders in terms of the level of disarray and poor management going on with their football team. The Bears were just there to take advantage of it like many other NFL teams would be. A Marinelli firing should be coming soon, although I'm not sure that will really solve anything since it appears their ownership is simply horrible. And it's those very owners who will now be charged with hiring the next wave of people to try to turn around the team.....AGAIN.
  4. :stickman: :stickman: I've developed a fairly healthy dislike for that team. Having an unapologetic juicer on your defense and the biggest blowhard in the league as a QB doesn't help.
  5. And Houston implodes. Indy with the ball at the 20 down only 3.
  6. I love when they play the "blowout" music and you're on the right side of the blowout.
  7. Come on Rashied.
  8. There's just something really fun about watching Roy Williams whine and cry.
  9. Wow Indy gives up 27 unanswered points. Houston 27, Indy 10. What a roll over and die season for Peyton's crew.
  10. Tied in GB. I'll bet GB goes on to win that one now.
  11. Nice. Orton with the sneaky run for 1st down.
  12. He looks very tentative, not quick at all. I don't know if it's because there are no lanes to run in, or if he's still a little hurt, or what. It's not the same right now though.
  13. Well actually, there's Smith. He's got some good upside. How about no more stupid mistakes.
  14. Is it worse than being a SF Giants fan. It has to be terrible. Getting to watch Tim Lincecum every 5 days has to better than the Lions. Plus they're starting to build a good farm system. Conor Gillaspie and Buster Posey will be really good hitters. They also have terrific pitching prospects. Bumgarner is such an awesome name. Umm, wow. Ok, scrap the Giants idea. How about Baltimore Orioles. Replace "Conor Gillaspie and Buster Posey" with "Nick Markakis and Matt Wieters" and you pretty much have the same story. The Lions have good players too.................... name em Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams and Ernie Sims basically sums it up. I like Smith, but won't see him too much more today since they're down 31.
  15. OK now I feel pretty good :) Thanks Bears. Thanks for helping to deaden the sting of the past few days a little bit.
  16. I'm still not comfortable because the Lions have been a better 2nd half team and we've shown a propensity to give up 2nd half leads.

  18. Iowa is a turnover machine. Still in it though.
  19. He has a child he cannot see a lot. Some issues with the mother. That's what was reported on the radio. Hub Arkish also said his knee problem was degenerative. They also said that about Urlachers back and he seems fine. Hub says lots of things. Many of these things turn out to be incorrect.
  20. All you can do is win the game in front of you. I'm glad these guys are pissed, they should be. I don't if it will make any difference, but you've just got to take it one game at a time. There's a game Saturday night. The job is: win the game you are about to play. That's it. That's all. Nothing else.
  21. Kendrick? I'd love to have him on the Cubs. Are you watching him flail at junk? Certainly not in the playoffs, you wouldn't want him. He's a prospect. He's only 24 and has put up some pretty solid numbers. He didn't look good there though, I'll give you that. He's 25 actually, and he's not very willing to take walks. His OBP is VERY average dependent. Again, no, thanks. Guys that have a tendency to swing at junk like that.....do we really see many of them "grow" into patient, well-disciplined hitters? I don't know the real stats on that, but I don't seem to see it happen very often. Free swingers are free swingers from what I see. They don't have a good batting eye, so they swing at too much. How do you learn that at 25 when you didn't learn it since you were a teenager, or before?
  22. :rotfl: :rotfl: Yeah that's classic man.
  23. Kendrick? I'd love to have him on the Cubs. Are you watching him flail at junk? Certainly not in the playoffs, you wouldn't want him.
  24. Yeah, LOL. That was funny.
  25. This guy is horrible. I know nothing else about him, but he swings at the junkiest pitches imaginable.
