  1. Bring back the 9 game WS.
  2. So here's the question I have. Tommie hasn't been very good this year. He's probably slated to come back this week. Play him? Izzy's been pretty good. Maybe there's a better game to plug Tommie back in other than this one, against one of the better rushing teams.
  3. Personally I really couldn't care less if I'm right or wrong about a QB in this town. Show me someone who can play well, and I'll back the guy. I thought Grossman was being criticized for not only the things he sucked at, but also the failings of the rest of the offense. Even so, I'll readily admit I didn't expect this level of play from Kyle and if he keeps this up I would be happy to never see Grossman again.
  4. That BS is getting real tiresome for me, wait till next season' playoffs when we'll read and hear crap about how despite being the best team in the 2008 NL they couldn't manage a playoff win, etc. There have been more than 1 team with the best record who lost in the 1st round. Funny how we don't hear anything about those clubs right now. I believe the Braves in '03, when we bounced them. Weren't the Randy Johnson Stros also tops in the NL? I don't think it's all that unusual, yet you would think it's never happened before.
  5. Unfortunately Jones didn't look all that good to me. He's done a few nice things. He's not a primary back anymore, but he's ok as a compliment to Forte. One of the huge difference I see between Kyle and Rex, and I think goony was getting at this, is that Kyle has some pocket presence. He'll step up in the pocket when the pressure is coming, rather than backpedal himself into a 30 yard loss. When Kyle gets sacked, it's a 5-10 yard loss. Kyle calls out the defense better, and when he knows they're bringing pressure, does a good job of getting rid of the ball quickly. He's developing nicely. I think it's going to be a fun season to watch him grow. Just please. Can we get a guy who continues to develop instead of suddenly starting to suck and never regaining his composure? One time.
  6. BTW, the title of this thread is hilarious.
  7. Unfortunately Jones didn't look all that good to me.
  8. Think so? I think they'll try to run it, like they did this week with success. Hopefully they won't have the same level of success against the Bears.
  9. ANSWER No. Would you move him down the line-up then? No, I'm not a fan of making quick, rash changes. Who would you lead off? Roberts? I keep hearing Jimbo's still pushing for him.
  10. They limited his carries this week because the Bears were ahead by so much it didn't make sense to play him in the 2nd half much. He's catching the ball well out of the backfield, he's a stud in pass protection, he's near the top of the league in total yards. That's pretty impressive for a non-1st round rookie.
  11. I'm not too concerned in that aspect..from what I have seen teams have been blizting Orton just as much as Grossman, the difference being Orton does a much better job of hanging in the pocket and getting rid of the ball. Oh yeah no doubt. Orton knows when to step up a bit to avoid the sack and he doesn't panic like Grossman did with pressure around him. I gotta tell you, I've been very pleased with Orton. I think he can actually be an average NFL qb. That throw to Sheed down the sideline yesterday was a thing of beauty. I was like, "OMGZ, that's like....an actual NFL QB type throw with great timing and touch and everything!!" Yeah, Orton's been good to watch so far. Hopefully he keeps it up.
  12. Bears are the only team in the NFL to deal a NFC East team a loss this year. Well the only team not from the NFC East to do that anyway. ;) Right right.
  13. Having a running back on your team about to turn 29 is usually a bad idea. Jacksonville went from looking good to being embarrassed by Pittsburgh in florida. that was some one-sided reffing in that game, and I was rooting for (betting on) Jax. How is losing 26-21 to a consensus Super Bowl contender an embarassment? The Jags haven't been particularly good this year, but I don't think last night was an example of that. I wasn't particularly impressed with either team, but with the Pats & Colts down this year they each probably have a legit shot. I think this is the year when the NFC is finally fielding teams that are better than the AFC. Right now I'd take the Skins & Giants over anything from the AFC in the Super Bowl. Heck, I might be inclined to take any team from the NFC East over any other team in any game at this point. The entire division has a combined 10-1 record against teams in other divisions. Bears are the only team in the NFL to deal a NFC East team a loss this year.
  14. The comment didn't seem all that bad to me. Soriano's just a guy who is really disappointed, searching for answers like the rest of us.
  15. No all I'm saying is the fans need to get behind the team and encourage them. Just like they did against the Rockies and the Brewers and all the other times they came from behind to win! I would put it to you sir, that the crowd was mighty quiet in those games as well until the Cubs started showing some life. The Cubs looked like a dead corpse the entire series. I don't think the fans failing to manufacture phony cheering is what cost us this series, or even close.
  16. What are they supposed to do? "Loney Grand Slam! WHOOHOO! Gooooo CUBBIES!"
  17. He is, watch him at the line. Rex never stopped and pointed out defenders like Orton does. He's doing that to get the protection right. Forte seems to do everything right. I'm starting to freak out over how good he is, so early too. Please stay healthy.
  18. '85 is still even higher than '03 for me.
  19. I'm not too concerned in that aspect..from what I have seen teams have been blizting Orton just as much as Grossman, the difference being Orton does a much better job of hanging in the pocket and getting rid of the ball. He calls protections at the line much better than Grossman. Actually when I think back, I'm not sure if Grossman really called much at the line at all. Orton is way ahead of Rex on this. Hopefully that holds up, as well as Orton's accuracy, which has been much better recently.
  20. Having a running back on your team about to turn 29 is usually a bad idea. 21. Outside of a few Lee hits and a DeRo homer, who else was so great in the postseason that we should pile on Soriano to the exclusion of everyone else?
  22. In the case of the Bears, I don't think it can be argued that after 5 games you must be overly excited or else you are a pessimist. 5 games, 3-2 record. This team has a lot to prove. I don't accept that a little realism at this point should be seen as pessimism. It just isn't. If they are 12 games in and 10-2, then that's a different story.
  23. Hey there Mr. Buzzkill....as a Cub fan...I need this. Don't you take this from me.... ;) I can't handle getting up high like I did with the Cubs this year only to be crushed again. I intend to inject as much realism into my attitude as possible. I don't think the Bears are a bad team by any stretch of the imagination, and I admit I thought they would be much worse. But it's going to take a lot more than what I've seen for me to really become excited. Sorry about that Banedon. But the Cubbie scar tissue may affect my Bears attitude, at least until the 2nd half of the season.
  24. It's a huge difference. Look at all the things Forte does well as a rookie, and those are many of the same things Benson couldn't/wouldn't do well as a 3rd year back.
  25. True, the right handed-ness of our lineup didn't cause Dempster to melt down in game 1, or the defensive meltdown in game 2. I'd still look for a big lefty bat, a real leadoff hitter, and then move Soriano down in the order, maybe Lee too. But that doesn't mean it would solve all our problems.
