  1. I know. It's hard to take this team seriously when the GM basically throws the QB under the bus when he hasn't provided him with an OLine worth a crap, a single viable receiver. Then the DC is retained when the most clear, glaring reason you are sitting at home right now is because of the defensive breakdowns that occurred all year long when you were playing with a lead.
  2. I don't know that I agree with that. I don't think JSC is significantly worse than Tait, if at all. JSC is a better run blocker at this point. Tait is probably a better pass blocker, but JSC faced much better pass rushing ends on a consistent basis. Factor in Tait being a year older next year, and I think St Clair is the better OL going forward. I don't want either starting at RT, but JSC is clearly the better backup, because of his versatility. Oh yeah, and Jordan Gross would be a no brainer if you are going to spend some money this offseason. I'd probably play him at LT and move Williams to RT. Gross has been a pretty good LT for a few years, moving him to RT would be a waste of his ability, whereas you don't know if Williams can play LT effectively or not. Arguing who is better between JSC and Tait is like choosing between a rusty civic and a trashed out corolla. Just give me something viable. If it's Gross, then so be it.
  3. Hmmm....I think if you polled around the league you would find that ARam is at least close to being "feared" or whatever. Teams certainly would rather not see him coming up in the 9th with a 1 run lead and a couple runners on.
  4. Yeah but it's only 3 years. It's not like we're locking ourselves in for half a decade or more. I don't see how the risk is excessive.
  5. It's very likely that none of us on this board ever even knew a Cub fan who watched the Cubs win a World Series. We're spoiled? LOL, that's a joke man and you know it.
  6. I mean look at this joke of a team he's built. But few people get in his grille about it because he talks a good game. Talk isn't action, man. Lots of guys can smooth talk their way through interviews. His actions scream incompetence. He needs to go. His team has no concept, no direction. There's nothing to hang on to outside of Rose, who is just flapping in the wind right now. Does anyone really have confidence Pax will actually bring in another stud to play along side Derek? Not without another lucky #1 pick he won't.
  7. Why? Last I checked players that get drafted #1 overall alawys go to bad teams, for the most part. He had to know what he was getting himself into. I'm starting to fall into the 'this team isn't very good' camp. That Timberwolves game was atrocious. Tyrus was very good for the most part up until he was letting guys on Minnesota jump all over him late in the game for some big rebounds. Whatever, if we don't make the playoffs, maybe Stern can rig the lottery again so we can get the #1 pick. If we don't get Griffin though, we better trade that pick for something more meaningful as soon as possible. Yeah there's when teams get drafted by bad teams I think they know what they're becoming apart of. I think he's stuck with us at least for a few years A few years yes. I'm thinking 3-4 years down the road. I don't want to be sitting here in 2012 watching Rose tear it up for a contender while we shrug our shoulders and hope for another lottery pick. That's all I'm saying. Then Tell Paxson to not be a moron and actually ad some good players to this team either via trade when you still can with Gordon or picks and or FA in 2010 I've been telling him, but he's not listening. His secretary doesn't return my calls. :banghead:
  8. Huet seems like a lightweight. Perhaps good for a couple nice stretches. I still think it's a bad signing. Funny how an expiring contract has turned Khabi around though. Just don't pay these guys, sheesh.

  10. That's pretty much my point. While QB is the single most important position, offensive line is arguably the more important position group, as it's 5 players plus multiple backups. And no QB can thrive with a bad line. I think it's foolish to focus all of their attention on QB when the line is as shaky as it is. You've got a left tackle of the future who showed nothing this year despite being drafted because he was closest to ready (but not the one with highest ceiling). You've got very questionable guards, an aging center who hasn't played up to his reputation in 3-4 years and an about to become obsolete right tackle. There is very little youth on this line, and thus, very little hope of internal improvement. Any upgrades are going to have to come from outside the organization, via the draft or signings. I'd much rather keep improving that line and seeing what Orton can do, while developing Hanie and another draft pick, than sign a veteran to play with this same line and get killed. We're on the same page. Orton's not going to be a superstud but I'd rather fix the supporting cast and then figure out QB afterwards. On D we need more pass rush, I'd start looking for that DE first. We have other needs, but much of our defensive backfield woes can be mitigated with more pressure up front.
  11. If I remember correctly, Warner wasn't all that great in his one yr stint with the Giants. So I agree, unless the Bears bring Fitz and Bolden with Warner and perhaps the Vikings or Eagles OL, then making Warner a priority is like giving Verne Troyer keys to a HumVee. I think he was okay, when he played, but he only played like half a season. There's so many QBs who would get killed with this OLine & receivers though. It limits our options down to close to zero. Who can be great without great options and little protection? Probably just a handful of the most talented QBs in the league. On offense, priority one: fix that damn line. Two: give me one WR to compliment Hester.
  12. That was just horrible tackling. What was he even doing?
  13. Right down to the wire. Great game.
  14. I've got to wonder what it would have been like if Pryor would have played all year, and Wells wasn't injured. This OSU team isn't half bad, win or lose.
  15. Not sure why I'd be offended, but no, I didn't expect that out of Theriot last year. But he was at his peak age so a career year wasn't at all crazy. And he still wasn't good. He had a singles inflated OBP but his overall production was mediocre and weighed down heavily by double plays and outs on the basepaths. It wasn't just about sending him too much. Theriot is a pretty dumb baserunner. Cedeno takes all sorts of heat for dumb mistakes, but Theriot does the same crap. He's just not good, and I'd rather there were better hitters atop the lineup. And eventually a better player taking over shortstop. We might be able to regain some of that productivity by simply realizing he shouldn't be sent stealing very often, if at all.
  16. Now I'm afraid Rose is going to get fed up with this crap team and start thinking of a way out.
  17. If that happens, this could turn into a trainwreck in a hurry... At least it'll be entertaining. Bradley is probably far more likely to have a Cubs career somewhere along the lines of Rondell White/Moises Alou than Jacque Jones. Jacque was a relatively weak hitter compared to those three. The key is that at least the Cubs have some other quality bats. They are maintaining their status as a team of good but not great hitters, which, when couple with minimal holes, can lead to a lot of runs. Rondell White is a name that keeps coming into my mind as well.
  18. OK, unless this deal actually happens I'm not wasting my mental and emotional energy freaking out over it.
  19. Was I just used as an insult? Yeap. Looks that way
  20. I'm sure the Cubs are talking to alot of players' agents.
  21. I think the Childress firing is on the horizon, but the division title probably netted him another year.
  22. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=MLB&id=2962&line=253548&spln=1 Let's hope it is sooner this week rather than later. Now that we've downgraded our lineup by dealing DeRosa we actually NEED Bradley and his 100 games of better-than-league-average OPS.
  23. there's probably contract language that states any other school/team must ask permission from BC before interviewing, and they clearly didn't give it to the Jets Could be, but I haven't heard contract language mentioned in the stories I've read. It's just been a "threat" from the AD. I don't see how he can go back to BC now. You know your AD is essentially trying to trap you into the job with threats, what kind of working environment would that be?
