  1. So I guess OU needs to just run the ball, except on 3rd and short, then don't run.
  2. that mock's about a month old, but Mayhew's telegraphing that he wants to take Bradford #1 (and Garrett as HC to develop him) Still feel Bradford wouldn't drop after tonight? Not looking so spectacular against an actual defense.
  3. Game has had its share of injuries.
  4. Just be thankful you aren't watching his mom & sisters in between each play.
  5. It's like saying "please beat us now so we have to relive this game in our nightmares forever."
  6. That's what Tebow should've been doing the whole game.
  7. The former Bear, Chris Leak.
  8. With all the talk about how horrible higher picks are nowadays, and how nobody wants to trade up and everybody wants to trade down, I think a shrewd NFL GM should be able to make a great deal moving up to get the guy he wants this year. That's a good point. Though trading up involves losing picks, which the Bears can't afford to do. You can also trade players. Angelo seems to know how to maneuver up in the 2nd/3rd/4th rounds, if he finds the right player and right trading partner, I could see trading up in the 1st, then moving back in the later rounds to maintain the same number of picks overall, or close to it. Hey, it's not like they have been spot on with their 2nd and 3rd rounders. I'd much rather trade up for a stud in round one than end up with a Bazuin or Wolfe later. Yeah, he's never traded up in the 1st though -- that I can remember.
  9. Hmmm, I never thought Cuban was automatically going to come in here and spend like a demon. I thought he would come in and make some big changes though -- sounds like he would have. Pull this blog out in 10 years, see if we laugh or cry. It will be interesting.
  10. I don't like their starting rotation either. Parra melted down as the #3 last year, is he really going to be expected to be the #2?
  11. Deadline. See how it goes with our current rotation, give new ownership time to mull it over if the need is there.
  12. 129th all time in RBI!! 50th in DOUBLES!!! 245th IN RUNS SCORED 395th in Batting average. Enshrine Buckner! I didn't say he was HOF worthy, but those are pretty damn good career numbers. Anyone who knows anything about baseball would agree. Those numbers are over 22 seasons which is not a usual career. If you average those numbers over a 162 game season, they don't look all that great. Not terrible, but not great either. It is rather amazing he racked up 22 seasons with those knees though.
  13. It is kind of funny how they traded away a bat like Lee, got Pods, then won the World Series in spite of it. You never know. Maybe DeRosa goes, Fontenot doesn't fill the gap, but somehow the Cubs still get it done. There's a lot games that need to be played. Hard to sit here in January and pretend to know what will happen by October.
  14. ...I think it was more the pitching, which was indeed marvelous for them in '05.
  15. Sell high, get a little younger, dump a little salary during a time of bankruptcy, open up some salary room for a more LH lineup. Are you suggesting that because a team expects to win this year they shouldn't cast even a glance at possible future seasons? I'm not that hot on the DeRosa trade either, but I think there was a point.
  16. I had no idea they were even in the top 8 right now. They suck. But their gs/ga stats would be pretty even if not for the Blackhawks matchups. Edmonton could easily overtake them though, with 3 games in hand and only 2 points behind. Chicago is probably going to end up the 4 seed though, and will be playing a significantly better team in round 1. Yeah, the only way the Hawks play someone like the Coyotes is if they somehow manage to pass a Detroit team that recently realized they will not actually be able to coast to a division title. Barring that unlikely scenario, the Hawks are much more likely to play Calgary/Vancouver/Anaheim in the first round. I guess as long as it isn't the Sharks or Red Wings we're in decent shape.
  17. He gives a pretty detailed explanation why he thinks Oher might slide. In the past, his mocks have turned out pretty good in the end, so I read it. It's one of the more popular draft sites out there.
  18. I think they need to update post December 15. That has Bears at 14, aren't they 18? Yes, unless San Diego makes the Super Bowl. Go Chargers! I thought the positioning looked a little optimistic. Hey -- I'm a Charger fan now.
  19. What do you guys & gals think of drafcountdown's mock that has Maclin falling to us? http://www.draftcountdown.com/sub/Mock-Draft-A.php I might jump on board with that, provided we address the OLine soon after or in FA. I really think we need more pass rush though.
  20. It's a pretty good bet he never will.
  21. I don't understand why we always just take the guy's word for it that it was some over-the-counter GNC pill he took. That's become the very.....convenient....explanation. Get caught? Blame it on GNC.
  22. So maybe it isn't one pitcher that replaces Marquis throughout the year, but do any of you really think it will be all that difficult to replace Marquis' production? Even if they go to 2 different guys through the season (for example), I don't see that as a huge challenge. Maybe I'm wrong.
  23. I don't know that I agree with that. I don't think JSC is significantly worse than Tait, if at all. JSC is a better run blocker at this point. Tait is probably a better pass blocker, but JSC faced much better pass rushing ends on a consistent basis. Factor in Tait being a year older next year, and I think St Clair is the better OL going forward. I don't want either starting at RT, but JSC is clearly the better backup, because of his versatility. Oh yeah, and Jordan Gross would be a no brainer if you are going to spend some money this offseason. I'd probably play him at LT and move Williams to RT. Gross has been a pretty good LT for a few years, moving him to RT would be a waste of his ability, whereas you don't know if Williams can play LT effectively or not. Arguing who is better between JSC and Tait is like choosing between a rusty civic and a trashed out corolla. Just give me something viable. If it's Gross, then so be it. True, but if the rusty civic or carolla can get you to work everyday, it's a lot cheaper than buying an Escalade....especially when you have other bills that need to be paid. And again, I am on record that I don't want either Tait or JSC starting, with the exception that it may take 4-6 games for a young OL to step in (or injury). If the Bears spend, I'd rather they spend on OL more than anything. But if they believe in Williams (then they should have played him this year), they probably won't go hard after a LT. I'd be happy if they picked up a OG to replace Garza, and then a RT. Shouldn't have to waste big time picks to do that, given that Tait's production is low enough that cheaper options would be an improvement. Williams is a #1 pick, he's slated to get his chance. I agree that going hard after a LT isn't likely going to be the plan.
  24. So they save $4.875 on this one, but are down one starter and up one more mediocre reliever. Exactly. Marquis has never been lights out, but I have a feeling fans will regret this trade later this season. I am going to wait to see who the 5th starter is and how he does before I will see if I may regret the trade. It's not the fifth starter I'm worried about. It's the sixth starter when Harden gets hurt that worries me. I really think we need one more good (to great) starter. Would be nice. I'm not sure finding a 5th starter to eat innings needs to be all that difficult though. I think Sean is fine in the #6 role if we can keep him there.
