  1. Yeah, but Cleveland can't seriously have any expectations. They're Cleveland
  2. Good Lord, it's like a 2 mintue delay! Cubs haven't won yet in my house.
  3. I'm very glad about Gregg's 9th inning performance tonight so far, BTW :)
  4. Its not what I expect from Gregg - I would just like to have a dominating closer. Fewer walks and fewer flyballs would be a good start. He reminds me too much of Bob Howry. The Cubs don't have a guy like that now. Gregg is who they have, and he is getting the job done. Try to project out a little bit. Gregg is a 3 run jack in the playoffs just waiting to happen. He'll get owned by the better hitters in the NL, in a playoff situation, with a ton of pressure brought to bear. People are rightfully worried about his abilities. well we're not in the playoffs and he's doing fine now, so i'm not going to worry about it too much. plus marmol can't throw strikes, guzman hasn't been great lately, heilman has blown for a year and a half now, and marshall is okay... so there aren't exactly a lot of options down there. That's true. But I've been thinking playoffs since last year particularly. I can definitely see this entire pen being a nightmarish blowup if we do get there. Think of how you will feel getting swept again, 3 years in a row. I'm not saying I don't root for these guys, but I do think there's some very well-founded concern out there. Gregg is part of that.
  5. They are expecting their closer to have much better stuff. Like Wood? Gregg has been fine this year. Like, better than Gregg. In what regard are you basing Wood's performance this year better than Gregg's? I didn't even mention Wood. I just don't think Gregg is very good.

  8. Who's left? Samardzija is all I can think of. Is Stevens still here? I assume yes, because Dibble mentioned him. I haven't been following the transactions.

  10. And I can't even blame Lou because Marshall was fading, and then Marmol and Heilman just plain sucked. He's got to do something to try to keep the lead.
  11. This bullpen has put together the most dominating 2 months out of a bullpen that I think I have ever seen out of a Cubs team. They have simply been brilliant since late May. Tonight hasn't been their best night though. Hopefully Gregg can somehow get out of this one. I agree. Besides Heilman I am starting to like our pen. I don't know how you can watch Marmol and say that you like that. I think it's a freaking joke. Maybe it's worked for a couple months, that doesn't mean they're going to be good walking everyone and loading the damn bases all the time. Because I still have hopes he will snap out of it. Heilman won't. It's been what? 12 months since he was throwing his slider with some snap? I'm not so sure. And Heilman's going to keep getting trotted out there, you know that.

  13. That was a meatball right down the middle to Zimmerman. Gregg is so damn average.
  14. I don't have a good deal of confidence Gregg will succeed here.
  15. Lou gives the big vote of no confidence to Heilman. Patience is running thin. This has become a joke of a ritual too many nights. Cubs get lead, bullpen comes in and either craps the bed or comes damn close to crapping the bed. Earn your money or get the hell out of here.
  16. Hahahhah. Ooooh, this doesn't look like it will end well.
  17. He's "supposed to be a starter" or something.
  18. They've had baserunners all over the place. Any other team and we'd be getting killed right now.
  19. You have got to be [expletive] kidding me.
  20. Thanks for walking freaking Belliard, Heilman. Jesus.
  21. I still hate him right now. He's a friggin' guaranteed nightmare every time he takes the damn mound.
  22. This is like a nightmare or something.
