  1. Pie wasn't in the group. Here's off the top of my head who I remember us having. Corey Patterson-he flopped it happens. Mark Prior-I would say his '03 and '04 made him worth the hype. Bobby Hill-He turned into Aramis Ramirez and Kenny Lofton. That worked out well for us. Hee Seop Choi-He turned into DLee. That worked out well for us. Carlos Zambrano Juan Cruz-we should have been more patient with him. David Kelton-He flopped it happens. Angel Guzman-having a great year, really wish he would have stayed healthy. So basically even though you claim that whole group of guys flopped, we actually got productive 3 and 4 hitters who play plus defense at the corners, an ace, and a great bullpen arm. It seems like all the "he flopped it happens" guys are all hitters who never developed plate discipline, correct? Pretty clear to me we have been deficient in developing great hitters in our farm system. Pitching has been a better endeavor. So we need to get some better hitting instruction on our farm. I don't see why 30 years goes by and we don't do this.
  2. You & Shep. I always figured you were buds.
  3. I am at work. Don't have problems at home :) I realize IE isn't the greatest.
  4. That's true? Twice the legal limit for what? Sitting in your chair? I'm pretty sure the legal limit for that is whatever you can take before passing out.
  5. I see nothing at all wrong with being drunk, passed out in your own chair. I agree, this story is basically over. Let the man rest in peace.
  6. IE is 7.0.5730.13 I'm running XP sp3 When it happens again, I can try to grab the link that is displaying at the bottom of the page for you.
  7. Don't know if you realize this, but that big honkin' CBS Sports Ad sometimes freezes my browser. It's pretty random. The reason I know it's the ad is because whenever the browser freezes, you can see the ad link down at the bottom of the browser trying to load. When it happens the only thing that can be done is to ctrl-alt-del and kill the IE process, and re-open. It's not the end of the world, but I just thought I would post it on here.
  8. Kopecky is a 4th liner...which is what the Hawks signed him to be. Not sure where you think Kopecky was given a chance to be on the same line as Hossa and Datsyuk in the past. He was given some PP time when Holmstrom was out, but that is all that I remember. His job then was to park his can in front of the goalie. I dont think anyone thinks Kopecky is a top 6 forward. When Kopecky was getting ice time again later in the season, he did have some time on the top lines. He did spend parts of a few games on the same line as Datsyuk and Hossa, and he did nothing outside of one game. After the 4th line, he is worthless. He has no ability, and no hockey sense. He tries to compensate for this by hitting guys, but too bad they have no effectiveness. Hell, he falls over half the time. The best part of last season was when he went into a fight, forgot how to take a punch, and then after the game said "I didnt know the guy was a lefty". I love Marian Hossa, but if Kopecky wasn't Hossa's buttbuddy the Black Hawks would have never signed him. I guess it's fine if he just plays on the 4th line the whole year, and I could see why the Black Hawks signed Kopecky if they thought it would oddly help them land Hossa. But, I doubt he'll be playing on the 4th line all year. It's inevitable the lines will get switched up, and he'll be playing with higher caliber players. If so, that would hurt these guys, and I bet you guys will be making fun of Kopecky by the end of the year. Maybe, but you seemed to be suggesting that Kopecky was on the higher lines because Hossa was requesting it somehow. I don't know what was going on in Detroit, but Quenneville isn't going to go for that.
  9. I blame ElCaballo.
  10. Booing McD seems really dumb to me. If they suck next season, or a few seasons after that -- then booing would seem more appropriate. But right now, after the most successful Hawks season in forever?
  11. I'll add my voice to Sosa. He's got a bad reputation now because of the roids, but I've never seen anything like that in a Cub uni, before or since. There are an awful lot of great Cub players in the past who I would have liked to be able to follow on a daily basis. I can look at the stats they posted, but I like to see them play.
  12. it's interesting that the W flags & shirts have only recently taken off. The Cubs have been hoisting that thing for decades after every win. I've got 2 neighbors here in Mad-town who faithfully raise their W flags after every win. It irks the Brewer fans :)
  13. Even if WCO is WCO, there are many other factors in play as well. Look, maybe he slides right in without skipping a beat. I'm just saying, nobody knows for sure that will happen as of right now.
  14. I don't see why you are touting this as some kind of slam-dunk advantage. It's still a different team, different playbook, different terminology, and probably most importantly, all different & unfamiliar players. Given that he's not participated in any of the OTAs, there will still be an adjustment period. It might even lag significantly into the season. Read my posts on the subject and tell me when I've insinuated it's a slam-dunk advantage. It's not. There's more risk with Favre than Rosenfels in my opinion. There's also more upside. The offense and terminology is nearly identical to what he ran his entire time in Green Bay. He also would be joining earlier than he did last year. He would have a better o-line, a much better running game and better targets to throw to. He should be able to adapt faster and easier than he did last year with the Jets and he started the season pretty well last year. Maybe. Maybe not. You don't know any of this for a fact. There's no accounting for putting someone into a new situation, how long it will take. It could be much more difficult than the Jets, or easy. This is one of the things I've been trying to be cautious about with Cutler as well.

I didn't realize Cink's history, an hence what a huge moment this must have been for him. It's too bad what happened to Watson, but I was actually happy to see Cink finally come through once I realized that this was a big moment for him after underachieving for so long. I watched a lot of the final day. There really wasn't anything else on. Watson's collapse was painful, but that was a great run. It's just too bad the approach shot came all the way through, and then the next shot was just too strong. I didn't feel like he was ever going to make the final put -- even when the announcer said "this is right in his range, he'll stroke this one."

  17. Yeah, it was a radio report that I heard over lunch a few days ago. ESPN. I don't have an article link.
  18. That's really not saying very much, so why belabor the point? Tavaris/Sage/Frerotte/whatever else is dreadfully bad for the Vikes. You can have an upgrade and still fail relative to what was there anyway. There's so much to be decided before we even reach the regular season. I'm hearing Favre isn't even feeling very good, and that he's having trouble making some of the tougher throws, and is still feeling pain in his shoulder. Nobody really knows if he can even perform right now.
  19. I wasn't expecting a sweep. I figure even a poor team could find a way to scratch out a win at home in a 4 game series. I hope they can build on some momentum, because they are definitely going to need it against the Phils. But obviously I'm tempering my enthusiasm. It was fun to watch though. Today was A LOT of fun to watch. Been awhile since I remember seeing a merry-go-round like that in an inning.
  20. Dude. Cubs and Clippers. That's Summer AND Winter misery. Give this poor guy a break. If your Dad did this to you, there's a case for child abuse here.
  21. If he sucks, it'll be blamed on him being hurt too. It's a no lose situation for them. I heard somewhere he said the pain hasn't gone away. That can't be a good sign.
  22. Harrington. It was a no brainer to sign the contract with the $3 million bonus. its a cliche, but he is literally working at Wal Mart now. I thought it was Costco http://graneyandthepig.wordpress.com/2009/04/23/first-round-bust-now-changing-tires-at-costco/ And I doubt Boras even feels bad about it.
  23. They're hot though, right? I'm thinking it would be a very good idea to win tomorrow as a buffer against what might happen in Philly.
