  1. If the league is really going to make an example of the Hawks for a 12 year contract, then they'd better make an example of the Canucks too: http://www.freep.com/article/20090903/SPORTS18/909030578/1052/SPORTS04/Canucks-give-goalie-Roberto-Luongo-12-year-extension
  2. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AkTRBAKNCS7Mo3emY2Mo_2FDubYF?slug=ms-ownerrankingspartone09020&prov=yhoo&type=lgns As I understand it, the Bears are a top 10 franchise in terms of value of the team, and cash flow. How can you be ranked lower than the Lions when that is the case? That ranking seems like a joke to me. I don't think the McCaskeys are one of the best, mind you -- but worse than the Lions? Huh?
  3. The snowball effect is in full force now.
  4. You saw the Cutler GQ pix, yet you still doubt?
  5. It's so douchey-good, we might need to post one of the pics for every Cutler passing TD this season.
  6. Yes. Because of Bears & Blackhawks hope, I've almost successfully convinced myself that the baseball season is already over.
  7. Preseason vs all games
  8. I give. Why ? I assume its because there is nothing else on and I still have hope that we can get hot and win the wild card, although that hope fades every day. Hope is lost. But yea there's nothing else on so why not a little self-torture.
  9. Likely. I think it was to keep expectations down and have an excuse if he didn't play well. He was basically telling local media earlier in the week not to expect a great, smooth showing. So basically he's now the GW of football.
  10. The NFL is investigating, as I understand it... Gruden was saying, "but he told us he had bad ribs.." Yes, Jon. He lied. Like he always does.
  11. This was the highlight to their season. It's all downhill from here. LOL :rotfl: I had to laugh at some of those pictures though. 666, hah.
  12. Favre looked pretty good to me last night. As a Bear fan, color me concerned. Looks like there's going to be 4 tough division games for each of the Bears, Packers, and Vikings this year as each team squares up against the others. I'm not sure we could say that in past seasons. I'm expecting all 3 NFC North QBs to put up decent numbers this year, with Rodgers leading the way. That's how I'm reading it, anyway. Stafford -- just too young to make a difference yet.
  13. So very eager for this to be over.
  14. I doubt very seriously the league will do anything. Q might make him skate some extra laps. Perhaps this will make him more mature, but I don't really care unless it makes him more interested in being a two-way player and laying off on the lazy stick penalties. I'm getting geared up for bitching about hockey already! Can't wait for the season, btw. Maybe the Hawks secretly wanted this. Kane's a criminal now, he's got more street cred.
  15. There was something that came out at the time about Bowlen's memory. I must've forgotten. :rotfl: Seriously though, why are they bashing Reilly for that? To me, Bowlen having memory loss might explain much, and it's pretty good writing if it is confirmed by 3 sources. Isn't just about everyone trying to get to the bottom of how something like this could have happened? Even though we benefitted, I'm definitely interested in how it got as far as it did. There are many things you can bash Reilly for, this piece doesn't seem like a very good one.
  16. Most of those players don't get back into the fold until training camp though. I can see why the Broncos didn't want to have that uncertainty with their QB situation and then potentially have to trade Cutler for even less than they did. Especially when he would be working with a new coaching staff that he was refusing to meet with. Still though, it's the Broncos fault in the first place. If they had wanted him, then they would never have tried to trade for Cassell, and Cutler would have had no reason for wanting a trade. The Broncos made a horrible mistake trying to get the player the coach wanted and it has backfired on them. I think Cutler acted poorly, but it was a highly unusual situation in that very few times will you see a team trying to trade for a 2nd starter when they already have a QB like Cutler. Jay should have taken a deep breath at some point, and he didn't. He's going to need to develop that ability or he will probably run into more trouble at some point. I definitely agree with you -- if I'm the Broncos, and I'm going to go down that path, then I need to understand the risks of it backfiring. If I don't, then that's on me. I don't go out afterwards and try to pretend I did everything right and it was just a whiny player who made everything a mess. That's just silly. I made that bed, sleep in it.
  17. To be fair, on the postgame NBC show, they gave Rodney Harrison a lengthy spot of airtime which he used to pretty much thoroughly trash the Broncos for how they dealt with the Cutler situation.
  18. In order to avoid lawsuits, most waterparks are designed so people don't get hurt. Or so I hear.
  19. Of all the questionable decisions Z has made, visiting a water park wouldn't be in my top 5.
  20. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/norman_chad/08/30/couch.slouch/index.html?eref=T1 BTW...this article is by Norman Chad, of WSoP announcer fame. I never thought I'd see a more poorly used stat than W-L for pitchers, but here we are. Indeed.
  21. I hope you're right, but I could see other teams seeing that Pace is having issues with a small guy and line up a LB or something on him... He looked better in the later drives. It could be a concern, but the Bears were giving help to St. Clair on a bunch of plays last year. Giving Pace some help on a few plays, if the situation calls for it, would still be an improvement.
  22. I have beeeecooomee.......cooomfortably nuuuumb.
  23. Went to bed when it was still close, checked the score this morning expecting it would be a loss. Lather, rinse, repeat. Probably the same crap tonight.
  24. I assume its a blip. He's more than 100 points higher than his career OPS with the Cubs, and its only 76 PA's. I'd love for it not to be though. May as well keep playing him as long as he remains productive. Maybe he's catching his wind as a player @ 28.
