  1. I think the Colts can take this, but I'm not underestimating that Jets D again. I hope that will be a good game, lower scoring, with Peyton frustrated and really needing to dig deep for yards. It will be really disappointing to watch if the Colts find a hole or two in that Jets D and rack up points. I don't want to see that. I've seen it a thousand times already -- what I want to see is Manning pushed and challenged. But that Minny/NO game -- looking/hoping for more of a shootout down there in the lowlands. My biggest fear is looking at the Vikings on the road this year. They're pretty much pedestrian, even bad at times, when away from the Metrodome. I'm hoping the fact that the Superdome is very similar to the Metrodome will help equalize that a bit. Looking for two good games, finally, in these playoffs. Colts 20 Jets 13 Saints 34 Vikings 31 Colts/Saints in the Super Bowl. Very good game/matchup, and well worth the hype.
  2. You could just refresh the thread list over & over. Once the thread title changes to "Ben Sheets signs with Cubs" you'll know it's safe to open again
  3. LOL, they're going to run this whole thing by committe. Who needs a coordinator? You've seen the player huddle on the sidelines. Now the Bears are going to invent the assistant huddle to vote on plays & defenses. Supah Bowl.
  4. It would've been, hands down, the biggest fight between the two best fighters since the Leonard/Hearns/Hagler/Duran era. The winner goes down as a top 5-10 greatest pound-for-pound of all time. I don't see what's sad about that. You put this fight 30+ years ago and you've got literally half the country following it. I still think this fight happens somehow. Maybe I'm just stubborn. These guys really excite you the way Leonard/Hearns/Hagler did? I'm amazed by that comparison. I'd pay to see those guys in their prime. Pac, yeah. Floyd is pretty boring, technically amazing, and plays a good villain. I mean, they don't excite me like Arturo Gatti and Mickey Ward killing each other or anything but you've got to take their skills and place in history into account as well. I don't know. I've seen them both fight. I'd definitely watch, but not shell out $60 bucks for PPV. Maybe catch the replay. Floyd is to me exactly as you say. Technically really good, but I never get excited by his fights. Pac has put on some great fights, but I can't get to where he's as exciting to me as a Leonard was, for example. And keep in mind that this is now the exact best that boxing could possibly offer. Back in those days there were exciting fighters crawling all over the divisions.

  6. That's good stuff, thanks Tim. Piniella's comment about Soto looking "like a jockey" was hilarious.
  7. Theriot is bringing my level of joy down right now. Perhaps we should get rid of him.
  8. Bah, this wouldn't have even come close to getting $60 out of my pocket anyway. This was going to be the great fight of our age? Sad, sad state of affairs. Boxing has turned to crap.
  9. you mean like when Derrek Lee put up similar ridiculous numbers in 05? that was 5 years ago..i'm talking about now (and more specifically, that sexy OBP). pretty wild the hawk won MVP over him despite lower SLG and over 100 fewer BB I'm glad he did.
  10. http://blacksportsonline.com/index/2009/03/15/cutler.jpg qft LOL, yeah, not the best picture of Jay.
  11. Looks good in that video. I'm glad.
  12. Good question, I've been asking myself the same thing. I'm not even sure they know what they are up to. A very sad and scary statement, but unfortunately one that I think is true. Whether we like it or not, we are really hamstrung here. Who wants to come in with a lame duck head coach? Probably not anyone with a good name. Unless they think that they can benefit by this and eventually become the next head coach. But even that's a double edged=sword. because if they truly make a difference, then it's likely all they're doing is saving Lovie's job for him. Hiring retreads or hiring a little known guy who we hope can turn things around offensively is about the only options we have right now. I am resigned to the fact that 2010 is going to suck and hope that it's enough to get Angelo, Lovie, and the rest of the staff out of here. If this IS the case, then I wouldn't be disappointed if we aren't all that active in free agency THIS year, with the intention of giving the new guys in 2011 alot of money to work with, so a complete overhaul can be done, if needed...... The even scarier part for me is that they could actually win a couple more games next year. Football is a funny business -- the ball bounces a few times your way, bingo: you win. And I wouldn't put it past these guys to take a 9-7 one-and-done season as a sign of progress and keep people around for even longer.
  13. Yeah, the Sosa hate isn't related to PED's, at least not to a significant degree. Sosa was a bit of an ass, but there was an effort to smear him at the end. Even if there hadn't been it's stupid. The guy was pretty much the only reason to tune into or attend a Cubs game for years, much the same as McGwire was for the Cardinals. I have no ill will for Sammy Sosa at all. The opposite, in fact. Me either.
  14. Yeah. No telling how much cash they can squeeze out of that city.
  15. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/jays-gm-sticks-to-his-guns/article1434416/Take it for what it's worth. Hopefully it's true, just not for the $10-12m he wants a year. Im done taking stock in any of those types of statements. If there was any truth to those types of things, Brian Roberts, Jake Peavy, and Mike Cameron would all be Cubs by now. I'd like it to be true (for less than what he wants), but yeah it's just some guy writing stuff.

  17. Agreed after the first period. I'll take a win in Detroit any day though. Detroit never lead in the game. It was a road game against a divisional rival. That's hardly "stealing one.". It's winning a tough road game in hostile territory. so? they outplayed us and were the better team for most of the game. and i hardly made up the term "stealing one" (even though i never said "stealing one"). No you didn't. But your defintion of it is certainly different than mine.
  18. That's it, the Chargers' journey to chokesville is complete. Jets defense is pretty damn good though.
  19. Interesting situation here
  20. Choketastic
  21. You cannot be serious. Does Jackson have a job lined up with the Jets or something?
  22. At least I don't have to see the Pillsbury Doughboy for another 8 months.
  23. I prayed to Jerry Jones for salvation; prayed for justice. And all I got was a KICK IN THE NUTS.
  24. Just a classic misunderstanding. Sorry. It's funny because I never saw the media comments on Romo.
  25. Agreed after the first period. I'll take a win in Detroit any day though. Detroit never lead in the game. It was a road game against a divisional rival. That's hardly "stealing one.". It's winning a tough road game in hostile territory. well that's true, but what he said was still true (although i would never complain about a road win, no matter how much we get outplayed). "stealing one" refers to a game that you get outplayed in yet win, which was the case today. you get outplayed like that and you don't usually come away with a win. that's why we stole one. I guess I just don't find it unusual to get outplayed a little on the road.
