  1. Owning car dealerships, for one. He had one in Iowa City for years that was bought out a couple of years ago. I'm not sure how much the deal was worth, but I don't believe he's necessarily hurting for money. I believe he also owns a technology consulting firm, which is successful. Sometimes he likes to pop off. I think he's just like that. I don't think it necessarily means he spends every moment of his life being bitter. Some guys just like to go off on a rant sometimes.
  2. I'd be all for adding a dart gun option. Fill that thing up with animal sedative. Hunt him down like you would an escaped monkey.
  3. I think the bases loaded strikeout was with 1 out, Griffey ended up striking out after him also. You are correct, and I'm not sure how I forgot about Griffey's ugly at bat. Griffey's strike out was way more pathetic than Bradley's. 3 straight pitches, with the last one being in the dirt and Griffey swinging and missing by a mile on all 3. I watched a bit of that game and saw Jack Wilson's 2nd error of the ballgame -- a blatant one -- which drew a chorus of boos. There's definitely more going on there than just Bradley.
  4. I haven't checked statistically, but maybe he just doesn't do well when he expects, or the team expects, he's going to be this big producer for them. I know the Cubs were certainly expecting big things from him. Texas? Perhaps the expectations were much lower. Just a random thought.
  5. Impossible to say. Right now I'm pretty glad we don't have yet another ultra expensive contract on our books though.
  6. Other options: A few solid knocks to the skull with a club Pepper spray to the face at point blank range Hire Farnsworth to perform the takedowns
  7. Well, he must be lobbing pitches up to the plate so swinging would seem to be appropriate. He's allowed 31.9% LD percentage so far and 35% of his fly balls given up have been for home runs (which translates to teams batting .384 off of him and him giving up 3.26 HR/9 so far). His K/BB ratio is actually pretty decent but he's still getting pounded. Cool. Let's see how it plays out.
  8. Hate to say it, but it's probably a good thing he didn't stick around to talk to reporters after that. Probably would have made things even worse.
  9. I wish he would just go away somehow. But that's probably not going to happen.
  10. Cubs know he's been struggling. Hence, Cubs will swing at everything. Hence, Cubs will make him look better than usual.
  11. I know, it's becoming tiresome. We must have left the real ARam back in Zona or something. Don't know who this guy is.
  12. Oh hey look, we crapped the bed w/ RISP and got beat by a bad team. Waddayaknow
  13. I've never met one. LOL, yeah. What right do those people even have to be upset about anything?
  14. There's a debate on whether this should have been done or not? Wow.
  15. I think Nielsen needs to do some work on their algorithms. I wonder if this was based on in-market surveys, which might account for the readings. There might be a high percentage of Indians fans who "hate" (read: are upset with) their team in Cleveland, vs. New Yorkers, who have a whole bunch of happy Yanks fans to offset jealous Mets fans. You really need to go national to get a reading on how much Yankee hate is really out there. They either blew the survey, or surveyed the wrong groups.
  16. I'm going to have to disagree. The guy sucked cold butt for a full year. There was plenty of reason to doubt whether he could return to his top form. Not a full year, but your point still stands. He finished the year showing basically no signs of improving. then spring training plus the first two weeks of this season (or thereabouts). Actually, it was basically all of April, which is why I was so let down with what was to come because he got off to a fantastic start. Though he pulled this off in July, .345 .409 .583 .992 with 5 doubles, 5 HR's and and 16 RBI's, yet I don't remember that at all. Maybe I blocked out most of the season too, but my understanding of last year was that it was all about Sori's injuries, and that it was likely he'd take some time getting back to form this year. Sure he's getting older, but to me that was always going to take its toll on his bat last. I'm actually surprised we're in May and he's having his first hot streak of the year. I thought it might take longer. Maybe I'm not being rational about it, I don't know. I think Sori will continue to be capable of these streaks for a couple more years. Doesn't justify that salary, of course.
  17. Yeah, I don't like this very much. All I wanted was one team to make it 12, then do a conference championship at the end of the year. I understand it's all about cash though. I still like the regional nature of the college conferences. Super conferences -- seems to me it will sort of wipe that out a bit.
  18. The coach matters a lot. The problem is that most of them are retreads and pretty interchangeable with the rest of the mediocre coaches in the league. I absolutely agree with this. Comcast said Eric Musselman was one of the frontrunners for the job. I mean really??? Cheeks and Johnson were the only names mentioned that would interest me if I were a Bulls fan(and I may be overrating Cheeks because I was impressed with how cleaned up the Blazers' act.) Actually, in my limited understanding I thought Vinny got better as time wore on. But I don't understand why we needed to have a guy learn on the job with the players -- especially since we were a young, developing team. I'm not sure if it turned out all that much worse or not, but I stand by my objection to the Vinny hiring. At least get someone who has coached before. If not for the X's & O's, then for the experience dealing with NBA superstar egos and all that comes with it.
  19. Good news. Also, they are adding 3 more Showtime HD channels. I think that DirecTV Showtime HD package is starting to look pretty attractive.
  20. Have they dug themselves out of a 3-1 hole these past 2 years? I feel like they still need to win one in Vancouver or it's over.
  21. With LeBron having four years left on his five year deal. That's not a problem. Besides, LeBron, Rose, Noah and whoever's left after the sign and trade would be enough to win a title with Vinny still coaching. Cal would win a title with that core. Probably multiple. Yeah, seems to me that the NBA is about having the superstar talent. Being able to draw up the best plays and sets doesn't appear to me to have the same effect it does in college. Put Lebron & Rose on the same team -- that's a Conference favorite for years to come, regardless of coaching. If there's some possible way to land Lebron, the Bulls would be fools to not pursue it.
  22. I welcome the scumbag who lands Lebron. We aren't looking to win any good samaritan contests :)
  23. He's a hot/cold player. This is nothing new. What was mildly bothersome was that some in the media were acting like Soriano's slow start wasn't another cold streak, but rather proof that he was simply not capable anymore. There wasn't any evidence of that.
  24. Luongo is one of the most hilarious players to watch in all of sports when he gets beat. He definitely wears it on his sleeve.
