What he's talking about can contribute to some players deciding to go elsewhere though. The Cubs have not suffered from players refusing to join the team. No, not in aggregate, but they may have missed out on a few individual players because of it. And may miss out on some in the future. -
Wait till Lebron stays in Cleveland or goes to Miami. And watch it freaking explode if he goes to NY. And then Boozer signs with New Jersey and Lee with Minnesota or something. This could be disastrous. It's already a significant failure even if Boozer does come here. Actually I'm not sure it changes much whether or not Booz/Lee comes here. On one hand, you get better to the point where you can win a few more games and land a better seed. But certainly not enough to contend. On the other hand, you keep your salary flexibility if they don't (presumably -- new CBA looming). Once you lose out on the top tier guys, I can't say it's more of a disaster to then also miss out on the 2nd tier guys. Only the top cream really matters in this league.

If you live outside Chicago, think of all the money you will save not having to buy the NBA package.

I hope Cowherd isn't full of [expletive] like he usually is. Although, it would be like LBJ at this point to not have the announcement in Cleveland just to throw everyone off. I agree about Boozer at this point -- what can it hurt? Don't we want him either way? Does Boozer even want to play for the Bulls? He's probably waiting for the Lebron chips to fall like everyone else.

I don't know if fail is the right word because I'm not sure they did anything wrong. Wade was always staying put (and eff him hard for using his kids in Chicago as drama for his documentary) and Bosh wanted to join LeBron or Wade, just not in Cleveland. Now LeBron will probably stay in Cleveland. There's probably not much more that Paxson, Forman, Reinsdorf could have done. It's a failure compared to what they set out to do this offseason, but I'm not blaming them for anything.

An optimistic Soul. Weird. This sucks. This offseason is basically going to clinch irrelevancy through 2016. Not necessarily. We've unloaded a ton of bad money. Lebron/Wade/Bosh aren't the only good players in this league. We don't know the end point for Rose, or really Noah either, right now.

It is what it is. I feel very good about my Chicago winter sports right now, with the Hawks a championship team, and Rose continuing to develop into an attraction as an NBA star. Two championship calibre clubs at the same time was a pleasant fantasy, but not necessary for me to still feel real good about where we're at between the NBA and NHL right now.

Then why would he based his decision on staying with Cleveland on the basis it would hurt the people of Cleveland feelings? because that's been his home and family his entire life. Huge difference. Not that I think lebron will necessarily sign a shorter term deal. I also doubt it. But I can't believe he's going to tip toe around what other players would think of him.

Lebron's not going to decide what he should do based on how it might hurt poor Bosh's feelings 2 years down the road.

Yeah, I don't think with these players that they necessarily feel like they can't win unless they go to X team. Lebron's going to factor in all his personal feelings and loyalties, for example. Then he's going to tell himself he can win anywhere, including Cleveland, despite not having won before. Or he's going to convince himself that Cleveland will make it work -- even if it really won't. It's not going to be 100% cool, logical calculation. There's going to be a whole host of emotions and even irrational belief thrown in the mix.

I figured on the Lebron back to Cleveland thing awhile ago, so if that happens, it is not a surprise or a disaster for me. But I never figured the Bulls would get completely shut out. If that does come to fruition, make no mistake: it's a catastrophe.

Well, it's not his decision. Plus, I don't think I'm disappointed in him if he feels like HE can be the superstar that gets it done. That's actually how I want him to feel.

Interesting he doesn't mention what "signs" are pointing to this. Perhaps they are the signs that only appear when he closes his eyes.

He didn't make it. This doesn't affect much of anything. Barring injury or some kind of freak mental problem with pitch location ala Rick Ankiel, he'll be in plenty of All Star games to come. I guess lots of people want to see the kid pitch because they don't get to see many (or any) Nationals games. I can understand that. For me, I ponied up the dough for MLBEI this year, so I just flip on the game to see him.

I wonder if Hendry will be trusted to start making changes at the deadline, and if so, what that means about his future as GM of this ballclub. I'm most afraid of Hendry being trusted by Ricketts, and brought back. I want new leadership, new management, the works.
