  1. I agree with the latter part of your post about reloading, but I don't know if I can predict next year. Obviously we're a playoff team with our top lines, and we've kept the D mostly in tact, assuming we keep Hammer. But considering how close the margin of error was in the Vancouver and SJ series....we won out with our depth. We could have lost both of those series last year...now all that depth is gone. I don't think I can predict how well we'll go until midway through the year. The margin of error is always narrow in hockey, though. I don't think it's as simple as "it was close and we lost a player so now we'll lose." We were a good team that caught some breaks and a hot streak, and we'll need to do that again. You're being too modest. Last year's Hawks were fantastic, not some lucky break cinderella.
  2. I bet there's a page like that for each team that is in contention for Lebron...and this one just accidentally got published. Probably. It might not have really been a mistake though. Someone may have been having a little fun just to see the reaction.
  3. That's one big, ugly, expensive mistake. Next time you screw up at work, remember -- Tiger outdid you big time :)
  4. All the biggest names in FA are already in the East. I guess if all those guys stayed in the East and Boozer, Stoudamire, and Dirk came to the East too it might make a difference, but I doubt it will make a huge difference. Well, but if it produces a conglomeration of that talent to one or two teams, it could bump up the stakes at the top level of the conference.
  5. One thing I haven't heard much discussion about is whether all this jostling of top players might result in a power shift further to the Eastern Conference. I'm sure it will at least be talked about once all this concludes.
  6. Yeah, I saw an article link for that on realgm too. He's probably just dotting all the i's
  7. Good. It seems going last would also give them a chance to perhaps make another move first to dangle in front of LBJ. If such a move is possible. From that article: Huh. Because I've heard a few argue that D'Antoni actually isn't this magnet that the Knicks were hoping he would be. Anyway, once the Bulls get in the room with Lebron, I vote for a blockade outside the door to pick off any Cavs personnel who might think they are actually going to talk to him :)
  8. I don't mind them, but only because I know the WC is only going to last a little while. I hope they don't start showing up in American sports like the NFL or MLB. As an interesting little WC quirk, I think it's fine. Not on an ongoing basis.
  9. I didn't buy that the Bears were going to throw around big money again this year, anyway.
  10. That's it then. Can't go to another team when the Bulls already have the merchandise up on the web. DONE DEAL.
  11. I'd rather be last than first. In sales you want to be last if possible. Second best choice is first. If you're in the middle you almost never get the deal in a fair competition. Hooray for being last, then.
  12. So then no managerial change midseason has ever helped a team.
  13. Yeah, that sounds about right. Want your ring? Couldn't get it done? Join up with the super team for a season for peanuts before you retire.
  14. It's all speculative at this point certainly. But why don't you see it as a possibility?
  15. If he was going to stay with Cleveland, I don't know why he wouldn't have already done that. Who knows? I never said he has made his final decision. Maybe he just wants to see exactly what kind of other situations are out there.
  16. I predict after all this speculation and excitement, Lebron stays with Cleveland.
  17. It's interesting we are thinking about going after him. I'm not sure how they would fit that proposed contract in though. I'd like to have him, but I also hate sitting on the sidelines every draft because we traded away every high pick.
  18. It sounds like like the Bulls wants a big man (rather it is Bosh, Boozer, or worse case scenerio Amar'e) in the bag before they go chat with LBJ6. Then pitch the ideal or Rose/Noah and said FA PF to LBJ6. Not a bad plan, but I guess whoever can get Bosh, or Johnson, or whoever committed to them the quickiest/earliest, then my guess that team will have a legitimate chance at landing James. I'm sure just about anyone would want Bosh, too.
  19. Yeah, it certainly appears to me like Colvin was a solid pick now. I don't know much about rankings of prospects, but I do remember the up-in-arms reaction to the pick. Lots of it was based on his personality too, IIRC. He seems like a well-grounded person to me. Just feels like a bunch of people missed the evaluation a bit on him. It happens.
  20. http://web.sny.tv/news/article.jsp?ymd=20100629&content_id=11717746&oid=36320&vkey=18 Somebody knows they aren't getting Lebron... Yeah, that's known as rationalization :)
  21. But isn't tampering a charge that would be levelled against a team, and not just a player?
  22. Uh, how can the players be charged with tampering? Because these players are not "FREE AGENTS" yet, they are still employed by the current team until July 1st. As such, these players are still a respresentative of said teams. Which means, like their organizations these players cannot BY NAME talk about another team's player who is still technically under contract. Hence, tampering. Maybe they've spoken before, but it seems pretty unlikely that this summit took place as described this weekend. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/06/agent-disputes-report-of-free-agent-summit.html If Wade was in court Friday for his divorce, then it seems more likely to me he wasn't in Miami Saturday and Sunday.
  23. Yeah, this is now firmly in the realm of unfounded-rumor-explosion-ville. I think it's time for me to fall back on the old standby: I'll know which team Lebron is going to when I see the logo behind him as he stands at the microphone to talk about his new contract.
