  1. God this is ridiculous.
  2. Ill give Martz credit, he definitely doesn't point the finger at other guys, or shy away from taking the blame. Its pretty refreshing to have a coach in Chicago like that. With that said, man he makes it sound like the Bears are a bunch of dummies. It is refreshing. But I agree with you -- there's 2 sides to that story. It was week 4 of a season after an entire offseason of work, and he's saying they can't handle a short week and a few extra wrinkles without suffering a complete and total catastrophe? What does that say -?
  3. That's pretty great. Of course I missed it working, but stii pretty great
  4. Yeah, if Ricketts needs someone to tell him his GM is an idiot, then we're in deep trouble.
  5. Of course he's going to say that. Lots of older players are going to say that. I guess we're going to find out if it's true in his case, whether we want to or not.
  6. Well of course. What, did they think the league was just going to let him skate by? This is sounding so stupid.
  7. If you & raw are right I might have to kill a few puppies. I don't think I can take Angelo's insane 300-lb elephant routine on draft day again.
  8. I don't know, but I can't remember a team go from riding high on a 3-0 start to spontaneous combustion in about 48 hours. I'd like to know what the hell is going on over there.
  9. LOL, what the hell man.
  10. What I remember most about '85 was all the adults around me freaking out during the 13-game losing streak. That left a wound on my psyche that persists to this day :) '84 was all about my Dad having champagne on ice after we won the first 2 games of the NLCS.......and watching that champagne sit, day after day until the inevitable death of the dream. This year was about expectations for mediocrity, and then watching those expectations happen. Nothing really surprising at all, good or bad. I guess I would characterize '10 as a season where my interest in the Cubs was relatively low from the beginning, and stayed that way throughout the season. I just didn't care all that much compared to other seasons, outside of seeing how our home-grown and younger players performed. I'm looking future with this team. The now is pretty blah.
  11. Nailed us down pretty good. Missed on the Reds though.
  12. Yeah, this year wasn't stellar but not even close to the worst.
  13. Man, if only the professional athletes in Chicago were as tough as you. They would be unbeatable Kids these days, I'll tell ya. Why, when I was younger we rubbed dirt on it and gritted it out.
  14. Bess isn't half bad. I like him more as I watch him more
  15. Carolina has 4 sacks all year, Im willing to bet they get 4 in this game by itself. That's what? An improvement of 8 over yesterday? W00t!
  16. Off the mat and dusted off. Also in the positives column: Carolina doesn't rush the passer nearly as well as the Giants.
  17. 8 weeks takes to around December 1st or so. I guess we can go that long without him. It'll suck though. Kind of like the whole Hossa thing.
  18. Yep...it was in David Haugh's column this morning. He's the only one that apparently noticed though. Others are saying that his teammates on the sideline noticed he wasn't acting like himself in the second quarter. They thought something was up. I'm just criticising to criticise at this point, but if teammates noticed him acting strange on the sidelines, he walked to the wrong sideline for a play, and on several plays he was for some reason unable to get the ball out of his hands while staring at an open target, why did it take until halftime to put 2+2 together and get him out of the game? Not that having Collins in earlier would have done anything but still. Denial. They looked at Collins and Hanie and went "nah, Jay's OK. He's got to be...."
  19. Well it just so happens it occurred right when our big offseason acquisition suffered an injury, so I guess that's why there hasn't been much talk of it. A good chunk of change though. I guess they see what a lot of us hope we're seeing with Noah. A very active big man who is still young and hopefully still on an upward trajectory.
  20. That's kind of a weird comment, isn't it. Because with concussions I'm pretty sure everyone is going almost solely off what the doctors say, not what coaches obervations are. And Lovie doesn't mention the doctors at all in that quote. So if it's just Lovie saying "There's no visual signs, that I can tell" then no disrespect to him -- but what he sees doesn't really matter. What does the doctor say? That's what pretty much everyone is going to want to know.
  21. I honestly don't know if I would. He looked useless last night. Not in the same sense that all Bears players were useless last night, but in the sense that he looked his age and moved even slower. I'd take Hanie over either of them. Collins had this look on his face that I didn't know what to make of. Kind of like he wasn't really sure he wanted to be running any plays....at all....under those circumstances. A real "I've been playing NFL football for 15 years and I know a death trap when I see one"......sort of look.
  22. I'm sure all of that went into it, but I don't think it "boils down" to those factors. It wasn't just that they were motivated and we were overconfident. There were clear talent, scheme, and coaching exposures that were blatantly on display last night.
  23. It seems strange that you can have NFL players who are all just turnstyles like that. I mean -- it's not like guys such as Manumaleuna have never blocked in the NFL. Olsen sucks, sure, but he's still a physical specimen. The question in my mind is -- have these guys really prepared like they should have to protect the franchise QB? It seems unfathomable for 6'5" men who spend all their days in the weight room to simply not even be able to slow down a defender, even for a moment. Something is really wrong with this, and it goes beyond just talent and drafting. I think there's a lack of all kinds of organizational and coaching factors to go along with the lack of talent. Only a complete and comprehensive breakdown in all areas can yield this kind of suckage.
  24. Yukky. Just plain old friggin' yukky. I don't have proof of course, but it wouldn't surprise me if Jay received his concussion much earlier than the play they showed on TV. He wasn't making quick decisions like I'm used to seeing from him. They showed at least one play where he was looking right at his hot read receiver and he was open (Bennett), and he just inexplicably held the ball. I think he was essentially "out on his feet" for a good portion of the 1st half.
  25. Can't wait to check out those power rankings tomorrow, hah
