Vaughn is maddening. He’s exactly the kind of player somehow the Brewers get what they need from, even though objectively he’s not good. It’s like what do they know that no one else does?
I’d rather be overjoyed at the unexpected resigning of Tucker than disappointed with losing him, when the scales seem heavily weighted towards losing him anyway.
So the Cubs essentially behaved like the Brewers once again. They picked up a couple players that are sort of OK, “sounds good” guys but nothing splashy. Then they hope they can get a great Aug/Sept out of them without trading away the farm. So is Castro this year’s Mark Canha?
Jed made his two BP moves. He wanted a great deal to materialize for a starter but it isn’t going to. He’s OK with it because he has 2 starters coming back. Maybe I’m wrong, but that seems likely to me.
A whole bunch of teams have struggled beating the Crew lately. I hoped we might rise above that, but the fact that we haven't, in their building, isn't really a surprise.
This is probably just my Chicago sports fan doom mindset but there are so many teams vying for help this year. It’s a seller’s market. Cubs have a couple guys working their way back from injury. It just feels like there won’t be a big trade. Smaller trade or two maybe.
