  1. The thing is, even though some may be using stats, it's still subjective because they're saying those stats should mean the award goes to that person, even though the award itself does not define it specifically according to those stats. So ALL the arguments for the MVP are subjective, stat-based or not.
  2. Subjective, like the award itself, since there are no defined metrics attached to it. It's a popularity contest.
  3. I haven't purchased tickets, and may not. I found the price hike distasteful in this economic climate. But the truth is, I'm just not very excited about this team.
  4. MillaR Stupid iPhone auto edits.
  5. Millard can go suck eggs for all I care. Soriano's comments mean more to me, but ultimately he's not likely to deliver a WC to our lives either. I said for months and months that Lou was mailing it in, so I guess it's nice to receive the confirmation. Really, these comments, and these people, just don't mean enough to me for a strong reaction either way. Give me the World Series and I'll care what comes out of your mouth.
  6. Based on the last couple pages of people bashing each other to death, one need not check the score to know we lost.
  7. So, it took approximately 7 innings for Quade to go from having a bustling fan club thread to being on his way to being labeled a moron.
  8. "If you're a Cubs fan, cheer on but know your efforts are fruitless." Sigh. We are made to suffer, apparently.
  9. blowout-ism crushtastic spankgasm
  10. I didn't like it. Wasn't challenging enough for him.
  11. YEAH-HAHAH. Mama. How 'bout that for a first half?
  12. It's like Bears QBs and passing yardage. Doesn't take very long to move up the list.
  13. Well, to be fair, it's better than "It's called 'hitting', not 'walking.'" The secret to LaRussa's success: play good baseball, and don't play bad baseball. Who knew?
  14. Now Cincy fans get to find out what it feels like riding the "will he or won't he" train with a starting pitcher. Certainly, if history is any judge, he'll miss more than just the start of the season -- whatever that really means in the first place.
  15. Addition by non-Addition?
  16. I'm not surprised anymore when this happens, but it still sucks for fans of that team when it does.
  17. I don't get how he says it will never be good, as if there's no possible way. Green Bay manages to do this acceptably, in arguably worse weather conditions. Nobody calls for them to go to field turf. Stop saying it's impossible when it's not impossible. The Bears & Park District are simply doing a bad job of it, that's all.
  18. Romar just threw the officials under the freaking bus. Think about it. What are the chances UNC wouldn't get a requested review? Zero. I can't imagine the refs would deny Romar's request if he actually did ask. It's not worth it for the refs to risk their job. Heat of the moment. It's not necessarily a rational, well-thought-out decision. I don't know what actually happened, so I'll shut up.

  20. Ouch. That really hurt Washington. Going to be very difficult now.
  21. Is there really a significant number of people who think those fouls shouldn't have been called in the Pitt/Butler game? Or is this just a media-generated story? They looked like pretty obvious fouls to me -- the kind that can't be ignored, even in the final seconds.
  22. It's really hard to talk trash after a season of licking wounds... I speak from experience :)
  23. Lebron's been all over TV imb already used that joke I have him blocked. With the bad taste of "the decision" still in people's mouths, and the fact that his team -- supposed to blow everyone summarily off the court -- can't crack the top 2 seeds, and he's playing with 2 other superstars. I don't know. I realize he's Lebron. There are some negatives there that Rose doesn't have to deal with. Built-in negatives.
  24. From another perspective though, you should be all for it. The only thing something like this accomplishes is to galvanize Philly fans, which in turn fuels even more passion. It becomes a badge of honor. I'm surprised Cub fans aren't somewhere on that list. There are plenty of Cub fan haters out there. Pretty much the entire city of Milwaukee, for example. And St. Louis. Some of the comments on the list are funny. Boston fans: Insufferable hypocrites. LSU fans: deep-fried lunatics (LOL -- that's you Vance) Cowboys fans: Deluded trash-talkers Badgers: boozehounds (oh yes, confirmed)
  25. This thing's coming down to the wire.
