Are they really going to let the Cubs announce this tomorrow? I doubt it. Ricketts was introduced as the chairman of the Cubs on October 31, 2009. Same day as Game 3 of the World Series. Nobody outside of Chicago knew who the hell Ricketts was. To most, He was basically just another billiomaire buying a sports team. This is huge. Epstein is one of the most well known, recognizeable, and highly regarded non player personel in the game. Hopefully, everyone will know it's coming by tomorrow. For sure. They'll delay the official announcement until Friday to keep up with appearances. I think that's our best-case scenario. I hope it goes down that way. I'll be on my way to tropical climates on Friday. It would be a *great* sendoff.

"something fairly significant" could mean almost anything. Therefore it's a meaningless statement. No matter who it turns out to be, unless it's 2 prospects from the butt-end of our system people would be able to look back and say Kaplan was right. So it's really just reading tea leaves.

Nothing else on, mostly. I'm kind of watching, listening to music for the most part. I look up every 15 minutes and re-confirm that the Cardinals are God's proof he hates us. Then I listen to some more music. What do you want from me!!! :)

The video someone posted in the celebration thread is amazing. Once this thing is announced I'm going to have to freak out and dance in the streets or something. Epstein's a smarty. We've not had a genuine SMARTY run this team.

As much of a bs hit that was, I don't believe the Cardinal pen is going to be able to shut down the Rangers. I mean, they showed the Cardinals getting a bs hit in game 6 of the NLCS. Then they get another bs hit in the WS, right after they show that. WTF is this crap? Being a Cardinals fan is like walking between the raindrops. Nothing bad ever happens.

Is it me or is De Luca mixing up headlines from other MLB writers to come up with his own conclusion, if Gammons had not mentioned a Cubs CEO of Business being involved would this article even mention Kenney? De Luca is an idiot. The article also mentions an MLB source who said that an annoucement during the World Series would be fine -- on one of the off days. If it winds up merely taking a week longer than expected, then it's really not a big deal.

He's quite the talker, isn't he. I don't think anyone can make him stop. Seeing "pay the man" signs all over the place probably just encourages him - even though the signs aren't for him.

I certainly don't know the rules, but this sounds like it might get the Cubs into a significant amount of trouble if it was confirmed someone on another team's payroll was actually GM'ing our team.
