  1. Many have already turned on Jay, too. Much of that is dumb, unsophisticated "I'm frustrated at my team and I want to be mad at the guy who personifies the offense" complaining. That's kind of the point. We have too many of these kinds of fans. We need a qualification test or something.
  2. Uh, thread taking strange turn alert.
  3. Many have already turned on Jay, too.
  4. It's easy for Wade to heap praise on Rose & Chicago now, after he got what he wanted to secure his place above us. But, it is nice to hear anyway. What's the over/under on when we'll see NBA basketball again? I'm not really plugged into it, but it kind of feels like everyone's resigned to a significant outage, if not an outright cancellation of the season.
  5. I don't think he'll handle failure very well, either. If he starts dropping balls, he might not be able to recover confidence.
  6. Well, there's always hope. I was hoping he'd fade into more of a role type guy who could at least provide more of a jump ball threat, or maybe some tougher possession catches. But that he wouldn't be expected to be "the guy." I don't think he's going to be able to do that.
  7. Now I know there's going to be lots of booing.
  8. What the heck does that even mean? He's the starting WR in a pass happy offense, how in the hell is whatever he gives us a bonus? He has to produce. It's very early. It means I don't expect him to remain in that position.
  9. Didn't it just get a huge cash infusion from venture capitalists? It may suck but it is relevant. Relevant to whom? I'm not questioning the truth of your comment, just curious. If it weren't for people posting about how horrible it is on nsbb, I wouldn't even know it existed. To me, as far as I can gather, it's just another random site someone put up to post their ramblings. There are thousands of them.
  10. That's what I mean. There will be a segment of the fan base who will expect to see peak Roy Williams, and if/when they don't get it, he'll be singled out. We've seen it happen in the past, it just feels like RW is the next in line for that kind of treatment, unfortunately. Eh, I don't mind having him on the team. I figure whatever he can give us will be a bonus. The biggest issue I see are the drops. If he can limit those, I'll be good. I don't think Martz will tolerate it for long -- he'll be out of there if he can't hold on to the ball.
  11. I've never tried it, because I can smell piss a mile away. And my Dad inexplicably liked it, which means it's bad and shouldn't be tried.
  12. Why is the bolded a reason to boo someone? Unrealistic expectations.
  13. The best thing to do would be to stop expecting anything more of Williams than a role-playing, bits-n-pieces kind of guy. He'll be booed, partially because he's not very good, and partially because some people think he's coming in here to "revive his career" or "recapture past glory." He's coming here to die, and to make a couple plays here & there. Based on the last Cutler interview I heard, Jay certainly isn't thinking of him as his "new key target" or anything of the sort. He's just a guy, regardless of his past successes and failures.
  14. I recommend using the parking lot at DeVry. The shuttle buses run often, it's very cheap, and you don't get blocked in. But if you absolutely must stick around the Wrigleyville area for hours after the game, this might not be an option (the buses stop running 2 hours after the game).
  15. He started drinking more.
  16. This feels like the 2nd year in a row we're sticking the proverbial daggers into the Cardinals' dead corpse.
  17. I just can't see dropping top dollar for a back. Too risky. Too much banging and bashing, too much wear and tear. I think it's appropriate for the Bears to take their time on this, at the very least.
  18. Hahahahaaaaah. Just got home. Heard the news in between fighting fires at a busy day at work. Been waiting all day to voice my approval! This is a GREAT day, my friends. *NOW* the Ricketts era has begun.
  19. http://www.csnchicago.com/08/18/11/Williams-among-Bears-offensive-problems/landing_moon_v3.html?blockID=550554&feedID=9399 LOL wow. What a free agent signing. Come on, man. Ease off just a tad. It's still pretty early. Lots of teams are dealing with players who are still getting into peak conditioning. Am I a Williams fan-boy? Of course not. But I'm sure he'll whip himself into game shape. The real questions for me are the same questions he's always had. Will he catch all the throws in his direction? Will he create the space, be the reliable big target he needs to be in order to have value in this league? I don't think conditioning should be a *real* concern, at least not yet. Not when we've only just played our first preseason game.
  20. Nah. Watching Jay run around is fun! We need to adjust our mental perspective on this thing, that's all.
  21. They are not making it easy.
  22. Behold the power of twitter.
  23. My bad, XZ.
  24. That's funny. Were the refs just oblivious? I suppose that wouldn't be much of a surprise. For those of us who couldn't catch the game, it's on NFL Network tonight 6pm.
