  1. The only question that matters in my mind is when Cowher would be interested in interviewing and actually coming back. He recently said he doesn't want to come back for another 4 or 5 years. He also said he has been contacted by several teams and turned them all down because he isn't interested in coaching in 2013. Unless he's lying, I'm not sure there is much point talking about him as a serious candidate. Once he agrees to interview somewhere, I'm sure his name will by flying around all over the place.
  2. I'm not saying that I want him, but I think it's fair to say that Trestman is getting his interviews off his work in the NFL as a QB coach / OC, and less for his HC gig in Canada.
  3. I called about the job a few days ago and Phil hasn't gotten back to me.
  4. We will see soon enough. I certainly hope that some of the picks from last year were due to remnants of the old regime still in place. Because nobody can argue, some of those picks had all the hallmarks of "Angleo reaches" -- starting with the #1 guy chosen. So, let's all hope for a clean break this year, and a much more comprehensible draft strategy.
  5. OK Vandy was a reach, ha, but having not seen ND play at all this year, I was stunned at the difference in speed and physicality between the teams. Physicality, maybe. But the speed difference was pure B1G vs. SEC stuff that we see all the time. Not surprising at all. If OSU wasn't on probation, and made this game, the results would have been very, very similar.
  6. Hmm, I thought Tice would have been Lovie's hire (as most coordinators are the HC's pick). As for the draft, you've got to give McClellin more than one season, and Hardin we don't know much about due to injury. Alshon Jeffrey looks pretty good so far. It's a little harsh at this point to say he botched it, IMO. Though the lack of attention to OLine is downright maddening.
  7. Somebody tweeted last week that they had been informing candidates they were already down to 2, but I assume this is all just rumor and assumptions and Emery's is being straightforward about looking everywhere. Anybody know who the 2 candidates Emery likes? Of course not, or it would be plastered everywhere.
  8. I've heard that Toub is a great football mind. Not sure where I heard that, or if it's true, but I like to think it is. Could be, but I'd rather not go from Lovie Smith, to one of his assistants. New blood, thx :)
  9. Grrr, Ohio State would have been destroyed by Alabama too.
  10. Dang, he really is going to interview the entire league.
  11. I worry about that, but I can't point to anything concrete that says he'll blow it.
  12. They keep a camera on her at all times, it seems. Doesn't help that the football is unwatchable.
  13. Look at the picture they have of Emery in that [expletive] article. LOL.
  14. championship grrrrrrr Hehe. Saw jersey's post and immediately thought of you.
  15. Have you noticed a lot of news about the other interviews? I've only heard blurbs about whether or not they happened. Well we heard about the one that went 6 hours instead of 3. McCoy is possibly the highest profile candidate so I thought we'd hear some sort of reaction from a beat writer. I'd like to hear any reaction, of course, but since these are presumably closed door interviews, someone in the room would have to leak something. I assume Emery is going to keep his own reactions close, since he has said he doesn't want to exclude anyone. At least not yet. Also, Clements & McCoy still have a chance to be in the Super Bowl. If they do, a 2nd interview can't happen until after the conference championships. Here's a Biggs article on what lays ahead this week in the search: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-01-06/sports/ct-spt-0107-bears-chicago--20130107_1_offensive-coordinator-phil-emery-bruce-arians
  16. I guess the only thing that really matters is what the top 1 or 2 candidates for the job think about it. But man, that's some incredible nonsense from Aikman. First of all, it doesn't even address the lack of OLine scouting and acqusition that has been taking place in Chicago for years. And secondly, my god YES guys like Mike Tice are not good enough to run an offense in the NFL.
  17. I'm surprised at Aikman. Not Sharpe.
  18. The NFC is full of suspect teams. Of course Seattle deserves to be there. Sleep it off gooney :) :)
  19. How do you award a Stanley Cup with a straight face?
  20. I'm counting on you, SEA vs. WAS. If you are as boring as what we've seen, this will rank as one of the worst wild card weekends ever, if not the worst.
  21. Knitting is more exciting
  22. The Jets couldn't even figure out how to get Tebow on the field in a meaningful capacity. McCoy won with him as a starter. Think about that. Tebow could easily have blown a lot of those great Denver defensive efforts with a worse coach/scheme.
  23. It was going to be 15-13 and a decent, if less-than-thrilling, game. Then boom, missed FG and like 2 plays later. 22-10 and back to blowout. Klein is a mess. He's playing like a crappy B1G backup QB.
  24. [expletive] you, K-State. I was looking forward to a good football game tonight.
