  1. This Riddick guy might want to stop tweeting
  2. Maybe Lovie will grab him.
  3. Peppers didn't even show up until game 4, so if by "needs strong group around him" Riddick means that he'll need more than ghosts playing alongside, then I agree with him -- and several other teams should be able to provide that
  4. He's had visits with several teams, so there's definitely some interest around the league. Maybe his asking price is too high given the issues he's had. I don't know, I feel kind of bad for a player who gets a serious injury at the exact worst time contract-wise. He never had a chance to come back and prove himself on the field before trying to sell himself around the league. It's got to be tough.
  5. Still not weird to me that they didn't lay out detailed plans for him in March.
  6. why would that be necessary? it's no secret what Pep does. they know what they're getting, and he knows what he does. exact detailed plans aren't needed.
  7. Seems out of character for the Packers.
  8. Yep. Noooot wooorth iiiit.
  9. I've been a meatball on occasion, but that's pretty over-the-top. Besides, I wouldn't be very proud if the heart & soul of my team was Steve punk Smith.
  10. Emery said he wanted to get younger on defense, and his two big signings in free agency on D have been on the DL, and guys on the young side of 30. So from that perspective, there appears to be a plan and it's being implemented. I like it.
  11. Yeah, his playing career was during the Super Bowl shuffle-era Bears. Long, long ago.
  12. The Graham being classified as a TE situation can't hurt But...they had $1.9mil in cap space before the Byrd signing...they're going to be in cap hell for a long time. This Byrd contract has to be heavily backloaded. Here's the Saints payroll without Byrd added in (no contract details yet): http://overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Saints&Year=2014 I think it just goes towards the reality that the cap rarely keeps a team from adding a single piece. Things can be moved around to accomodate it. Several pieces? Probably a different story.
  13. Nor did I. Although it makes sense -- the NYG were a hot mess last year, not much reason to pay attention to them.
  14. As with everything, depends on the details
  15. lol, wow. at least there's nowhere to go but up.
  16. Better get a good backup. 13 games in the last 2 years. Not a difference maker when he is in there. Whatever he costs, I'd rather have spent 500K-1Mil more on someone similar who might actually play 16 games this year. With Briggs, DJ, Bostic, Greene, and McClellin, I'm thinking all we'll add is a mid round type for depth. If there's an injury, maybe they get a vet to come in late. That LB corps scares the crap out of me.
  17. One thing I love about Houston -- his age. He'll play 3 more seasons before his 30th b-day. By comparison, the Bears signed Pep when he was 30. Hopefully we're catching a player with more upside to explore, in addition to just filling a need.
  18. Sure why not. Go get 'em Jets. Can't blame him. I wanted him back, FWIW. 4Mil for a guy you never want to see on the field. Glad they're not matching that crap. Yeah, definitely not at that price.
  19. Sure why not. Go get 'em Jets. Can't blame him. I wanted him back, FWIW.
  20. Houston: It looks like he had his best year as a pro last year, but I don't see anything special -- other than lowering the price tag from Peppers' contract.
  21. did he come back in? yeah he did. took a two handed chop across the forearm and his left arm immediately dropped to his side, but he finished the game thankfully I'll bet he has a nasty bruise on that forearm, though.
  22. What doesn't this dude get? When you make a lot of money and don't perform to your standards, teams move on. That's any team in the freaking NFL. The Bears aren't going to resign you because you played well for them in 2006. The more this guy talks the more I forget how great of a football player he was. I know, but realistically you've got to expect this kind of thinking from ex-players.
