  1. I believe they changed it, although this description on ESPN's website for ESPN2 isn't very definitive: ESPN2's Telecast of The World Baseball Classic Is presented by Taco Bell: Andre Agassi vs. Paul Goldstein
  2. My TV schedule says ESPN2 is airing Tennis in this time slot. Did they change up or something?
  3. Channel 642 on DirecTV is the Wisconsin "alternate" Fox Sports channel where most of the Milwaukee-area sports are aired (main channel usually gets the Minnesota stuff). My guess is, if you have the sports package from DirecTV or if you live in the Wisconsin region you will get that game.
  4. What is the WHIP myth and how did you destroy it? Feel free to link to your posts (I must have missed them). I'm not being argumentative - I really want to know what you mean. Personally I think WHIP is just about the truest objective summary of pitcher performance. If I could ask for one stat -- one stat only -- about a pitcher I knew nothing about, that is the one I'd want (HR/9 and K/BB being a close 2nd and 3rd). I always considered WHIP to be an informative stat, too. And I try to look beyond stats when I can.
  5. Baker doesn't really want to be here anymore. That's why he isn't discussing deal with anyone. His agent takes care of the negotiations anyway----this talk about "I'm too busy right now" is hogwash. People's agents negotiate multi-million-dollar contracts year-round. That's why people hire them. Baker's just playing out the string.
  6. I still think if we can have a healthy Prior to start the season and a healthy Wood and Miller to complete the rotation in May that we will be a strong contender this season. We just can't tank in April, though. I really hope Kerry comes back soon, and he doesn't make a single DL visit this year. I'd like to see him as a Cub for many more years. I fell in love with him after the 20k game and I don't think that'll ever go away. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for him because of that, too. And the two games he pitched in the NLDS against Atlanta. But I refuse to buy into the idea that he's healthy until I see him pitching well over a period of time. You know what they say: fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. With Woody, it's fool me the 8th time and I should be lobotomized.
  7. I heard the most insane thing about McCown. He says he's looking for a starting job off the bat. How ridiculous is that? What has Josh freaking McCown accomplished in the NFL to warrant a guaranteed starting position? With respects to the McCown camp, they should be begging on their knees for a chance to compete for a spot on the Bears, a division-winning team which McCown has no idea what it's like to play for... he had 2 games last year in which he threw for almost 400 yards so they'll probably be selling that. i think he's ready to become a pretty good starter in the NFL. Jim Miller threw for 400 yards a couple times, too. So have a bunch of other guys nobody remembers. Shall we hand them guaranteed starting jobs, too? Or would it be more wise to ask someone who hasn't won a thing in this league to earn his position? I vote the latter.

  9. With all due respect, when I see Wood make a whole bunch of starts in a row, then I'll believe he's fine.
  10. [-( I agree with Meat, we'd look like a college team. What?!? How dare you oppose my grand vision of the new Cubbies!!!! j/k 8)
  11. The Cubs' are all blue though. They should paint the vents red. You know, add a little pizzazz. Style. Fashion.
  12. So we're through to the next round? Sorry, I'm completely out of it. At work, hell is breaking loose all around, no time to follow the WBC 8)
  13. Under know circumstances should you proofread your work, MC.
  14. LMAO. Great sig.
  15. Very good to hear you had a good time. I'm sure the WBC will exist for many years to come. I have my reservations, however, whether it will become a true all-star experience with all the game's superstars participating. I'm also not sure it needs to be.
  16. No surprises - just the way we like it. Yes, but what does that really mean? If I'm expecting someone's head to be cut off and then it happens, I can safely say "there were no suprises."
  17. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2359699 Sounds like the Vikings asked Pep to learn how to be an actual Quarterback now that Moss is gone
  18. It's curious to you that people seek to make money :?: In context, yes. When said people are journalists and choose not to publish their findings in the general news media, rather they choose to reveal their findings in a private publication. So I question their motives, which then leads to questioning the validity of the research. The repurcussions for inaccurate statements in a private publication are not nearly the same as if published in a reputable news publication. From what I've read about the authors, they are some of the best investigative journalists around. The fact that they chose a book rather than some other form of media to present their findings should be irrelevant. I'm sure they spent much time and resources to discover this information. I have no problem with them choosing the media form that could reimburse them with the most profits. I don't think it impacts their credibility at all. I do understand Dude's point though. But I think in this particular case, because the book is being touted (rightly or wrongly) as "finally the proof Bonds did it," if the facts in the book were proven to be wrong or poorly investigated the repurcussions would probably be pretty bad.
  19. Those two dunks, particularly the and-one, were fantastic. :D I doubt we're making the playoffs, but when I see the Bucks drop a game at home to the Knicks I must admit there's still an outside shot. It would be very good to see the Bulls fight all the way to the end instead of giving up.
  20. Madison can't cover much of anything anymore. Don't tell that to Jay Mariotti who is advocating us breaking the bank for him. It's pretty hard to justify spending big money on older CB's when there is so many talented defensive backs in this draft. I could even see us taking a Ko Simpson in the first, if he was there. I wouldn't be surprised or upset with that. Mariotti has always been known for his lack of knowlege and common sense.
  21. It's curious to you that people seek to make money :?:
  22. Hmmm. I respect your opinion, but books like those are traditionally very good sellers, as I'm sure you know. I will probably check out the Bonds book, though I might try to get a used/borrowed copy rather than spend any cash on it.
  23. Well, it's not like Sing hasn't logged a decent amount of minor-league playing time in the outfield. He's not a good fielder - which is why no one grabbed him in the Rule 5 draft - but he'd be a great choice to platoon with Jones. I did not know that. It's settled then. Grissom out, platoon Sing with Jones. God, being a GM is fun!!! 8)
  24. Brandon Sing baby. Cut Grissom and teach Sing how to play the outfield. Come on, do something imaginative for once.
  25. Haha. Seriously though, I think the words "fun" and "cool" will probably be the last words that come to mind if Bonds is allowed to break the most sacred record in baseball. You know, with confetti flying and ESPN fools hurling superlatives. If it was to happen, and they were to give him a chocolate colored Corvette or some such nonsense, I might even vomit.
