  1. Maybe we should just cycle pitchers through the rotation. Call them up for 1 start at a time. We'd be unbeatable. I believe that's what the Royals are doing right now. Hey -- it's gotten them a couple wins against the White Sox
  2. And so does just about every other team ahead of us. When you can beat the Stros with a couple callups against Clemens and Pettite? Something ain't right, man. Now with the Mets having a load of top guys on the DL or struggling --- this entire league is just complete junk. Not a single decent team anywhere. I've never seen anything like it. I think we can pull closer -- just because there's nothing out there to prevent a terrible team like the Cubs from looking better than it is.
  3. He didn't review the Raiders either. Personally, I'm offended because it should have taken him all of 5 seconds to come up with: "Aaron Brooks = 5-11". Some other [expletive] from yahoo sports offered to eat his laptop if the Bears won the division last year. Maybe the two should meet. They can discuss their jilted Bear love with each other, and spare the rest of us.
  4. You can only plug players in that other teams haven't seen for so long. Not a viable strategy long term. Being Cub fans, it's safe to say that we of all people should know the cycle of marginal players performing well their first few times on the field.........then tanking when the league figures out their weaknesses.
  5. cubs.com is listing todays pitcher as Ryan O'Malley. 7-7 with a 4.08 ERA at Iowa. Hah. ahahahah. ahahAHAHAHAHAH. This will be funny. Hey---at least the Stros won't have any tape on him.
  6. Just days after losing Chad Greenway for the season, the Vikings are dealt another massive blow: K. Robinson Arrested: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NFL&id=549&line=70785&spln=1
  7. Murton's one of the very few Cub hitters who actually has a respectable OBP. Dumping him for a "power bat" would be sooooooo typical Cubs. We'd probably get another Nevin in return. No thanks. I'll take my chances with Murt -- either as an eventual starter, or off the bench. Either way, at least the guy has an OBP more than a few points higher than his avg.
  8. everything about this is wrong Really? I like the blue jersey too. I don't like the red bill on the away caps though.
  9. Greenway tore his ACL and is out for the year. At first I thought you were kidding. Whoa, that's a pretty big blow. I admit I wasn't really watching the game close last night. I missed it. Yeah, that's a big one.
  10. I don't like the job Hendry's doing either. But can we criticize without resorting to personal attacks please?
  11. Why can't we just win and be happy like other teams? :)

True. Looks like I opened my big mouth too soon. Again  I have heard that this is the other achilles, not the one he originally injuried. I'm not sure about that though. Not that it really matters. You kind of need both.
  13. I guess you must have missed The Sex Pistols getting beat by Genesis. Yes, that Genesis. The people that voted chose a mountain of formulaic pop crap over a band that produced one of the best albums ever. Or Radiohead being beaten by CCR. Yes, I'm still bitter Nope. Still going with Queen. You Floyd fanatics are angry, bitter people! 8)
  14. Add that to the pile. Of course, there's no way a GM can know something like that. But it's [expletive] to go after a FA full-bore and then just give up inches before the finish line-------which is how I interpret what happened.
  15. Try as I might, I can't whip up any tears over this.
  16. I know. Between those new unis, and the refs new unis, I had to check myself to make sure the Raiders weren't playing an exhibition against an Arena League team------in an Arena League stadium, no less.
  17. Nice start Viking fans. BWAHAHAHAH
  18. They shouldn't lose to the Beatles? They're losing, as they should. And honestly, Page > Townsend, Plant > Daltry -- Who shouldn't even be here right now, IMHO.
  19. Voted Zep. Queen, however, gets my vote for most unjustly maligned band in the tourney.
  20. Nope. Apparently metallers don't hold grudges like stoner rockers do. Beatles all the way on this. The Who was a great band, but just not in the same league, and that's a cold hard fact. I'm not so sure on the grudge thing, it's half grudge and half liking The Who more, anyway. I'll bet even those who have the Who as a favorite band have still heard just as much Beatles over the years. We all have. Their music just permeates society. Even decades and decades later.

Interesting banter back and forth (minus the insults), but I feel it necessary to point out the obvious. This was the first preseason game, and has absolutely no bearing (no pun intended) on the upcoming season. It was a glorified practice, nothing more. As are all preseason games. Looks like we emerged without any serious injuries.
  23. I have one. It gets old after awhile. The last time I was into OC'ing it was about 3 years ago, and finally I settled on a more normal speed, that's it. Meddling with the innards of a PC and watching benchmarking numbers roll past my eyes is no longer something I have the patience or desire for.
  24. Agreed. I guess if I want that "hot doughnut" taste I can follow KK's instructions after visiting DD......and pop 'em in the microwave. :P Save a whole bunch of $$$$ too, as KK is ridiculously overpriced for undersized doughnuts.
