  1. He doesn't have the power though, and we're getting out-blasted just about every day out there. I love Matty Murt, but I see no reason why he can't be a solid bench player in favor of a power-hitting LF. It's not like our bench doesn't need a TON of work. Every player doesn't have to be a starter to be a good Cub.

That sucks. But yeah, Lovie didn't seem happy about it. He did say that it was his fault, though, because there's no tackling in camp. I also forgot that Harris was still playing out of position, but still, that was pretty ugly. At least Harris is putting himself in position on plays. He just needs to wrap up. This is something that is taught, so the coaches need to address it before the season starts. I'm happy with him just being in the right place for now. Also, I noted that now Kreutz is back, so the QB fumbles stopped.... Grossman is pressing, because he knows this is it for him. He needs to settle down, but everyone is ignoring several excellent throws he did in fact make, as well as 3 drops on passes that should have been caught (2 by Davis, one by Clark). Simms noted the Bear receivers were dropping way too many balls, as well. The INT was stupid. Dumb throw. And I've got to say: if I see Gabe Reid on a WR fly route during the season, then that's just pathetic. Reid's a TE, not a WR. Too slow to ever get separation on a fly route. So I think they were just experimenting on that play since you would never see it in the regular season.
  3. Well, they just said Robinson was named the best defensive catcher in the Tigers' organization last year. So he probably can't hit, but hey Blanco won't be here forever. 319 AB, 92 H, 22 2b, 1 hr, 47 rbi, 6 sb, 72 so, .338obp, .367slg, .288 avg OK........ So then Detroit's insane. The guy has good D and at least passable O, and they handed him to us for the human no-playoff guarantee.
  4. The Sun just came out! Kids have started playing in the streets again! Flowers are blooming! My life seems more meaningful!! *weeps with joy*
  5. Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Halle-luuuu---uuuu--uuuuu---jah!!!!! 8)

  7. Tell you what though. Phillips was right. Gotta give him props, he called this on Wednesday, right? Pretty good.
  8. It's two years late, and Hendry traded Neifi AFTER making the mistake of paying him more unwarranted $$$$. But hey, at least he's gone. Watch him systematically dismantle the Tigers.
  9. I had no idea OSU was going to be ranked #1. Guess I'm out of touch. I'm having a hard time believing Texas will be able to maintain it's dominance without Vince Young. Having that ace in the hole all year helped them immensely, including in the title game when Vince basically loaded up all of Texas on his shoulders and carried them to the title.
  10. Kid tosses a shutout from nowhere for the team he loves. Couldn't have scripted a better story. Good for him. And now, no matter what happens, he can always show his kids & grandkids the video of the time he went to the big leagues and got the Cubbies a win.
  11. i hope he was joking. Wow, if he wasn't kidding, that reaches whole new levels of pathetic. Wowza. Even if he was joking it's not a wise thing to say given the circumstances.
  12. Maybe we should just cycle pitchers through the rotation. Call them up for 1 start at a time. We'd be unbeatable. I believe that's what the Royals are doing right now. Hey -- it's gotten them a couple wins against the White Sox
  13. And so does just about every other team ahead of us. When you can beat the Stros with a couple callups against Clemens and Pettite? Something ain't right, man. Now with the Mets having a load of top guys on the DL or struggling --- this entire league is just complete junk. Not a single decent team anywhere. I've never seen anything like it. I think we can pull closer -- just because there's nothing out there to prevent a terrible team like the Cubs from looking better than it is.
  14. He didn't review the Raiders either. Personally, I'm offended because it should have taken him all of 5 seconds to come up with: "Aaron Brooks = 5-11". Some other [expletive] from yahoo sports offered to eat his laptop if the Bears won the division last year. Maybe the two should meet. They can discuss their jilted Bear love with each other, and spare the rest of us.
  15. You can only plug players in that other teams haven't seen for so long. Not a viable strategy long term. Being Cub fans, it's safe to say that we of all people should know the cycle of marginal players performing well their first few times on the field.........then tanking when the league figures out their weaknesses.
  16. cubs.com is listing todays pitcher as Ryan O'Malley. 7-7 with a 4.08 ERA at Iowa. Hah. ahahahah. ahahAHAHAHAHAH. This will be funny. Hey---at least the Stros won't have any tape on him.
  17. Just days after losing Chad Greenway for the season, the Vikings are dealt another massive blow: K. Robinson Arrested: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NFL&id=549&line=70785&spln=1
  18. Murton's one of the very few Cub hitters who actually has a respectable OBP. Dumping him for a "power bat" would be sooooooo typical Cubs. We'd probably get another Nevin in return. No thanks. I'll take my chances with Murt -- either as an eventual starter, or off the bench. Either way, at least the guy has an OBP more than a few points higher than his avg.
  19. everything about this is wrong Really? I like the blue jersey too. I don't like the red bill on the away caps though.
  20. Greenway tore his ACL and is out for the year. At first I thought you were kidding. Whoa, that's a pretty big blow. I admit I wasn't really watching the game close last night. I missed it. Yeah, that's a big one.
  21. I don't like the job Hendry's doing either. But can we criticize without resorting to personal attacks please?
  22. Why can't we just win and be happy like other teams? :)

True. Looks like I opened my big mouth too soon. Again  I have heard that this is the other achilles, not the one he originally injuried. I'm not sure about that though. Not that it really matters. You kind of need both.
