  1. Think of it this way. In terms of draft points, this would be like picking up 2 mid-2nd round picks. Or, a mid 2nd-rounder and 2 3rd round picks. Briggs himself was a mere 3rd round pick.
  2. He wouldn't be trading the 6th pick overall for Briggs. He'd be trading that for Briggs and the 31st. He'd be trading one potential all pro player for an all pro player and a guy who is a little less likely to be all pro. My only problem with such a trade from a Bears perspective is, with 31 and 37, we know they already need O line help, secondary help, and offensive playmaker help. Now, trade Briggs with the 31 for that 6th, and all of a sudden you add one more need, without adding anymore draft picks. The guys who are obvious replacements for Briggs aren't worth anywhere near being a 6 pick, so if you take them, then you are essentially removing much of the value of that 6th pick in the first place. Angelo would almost have to trade down, to try and get 2 later 1st round picks. If you are giving up Briggs and your 1st, I think you have to end up with at least 2 picks when all is said and done. Because all of a sudden you have multiple needs and serious depth issues. The draft point upgrade from 31 to 6 is 1,000. It's massive. You may not be adding another pick, but that's not how it should be viewed because a pick can be turned into more picks. It's about the value gained. This is the exact same reason why most people didn't understand what we gained in the TJ trade.
  3. According to The Trib, the two had a meeting sans Rosenhaus this evening. And apparently the Bears offered to promise to not franchise him in 08. And he turned it down. So to recap, he was offered a 6 year 33 mil deal last year, then turned down a guaranteed 7 mil for one year, along with the promise he could hit free agency next year, and possibly get more than the 20 million guaranteed he is looking for..... So we could draft Willis, Landry, Branch, Okoye....... We could draft anyone @ 6. It's immaterial. The point is, Briggs is not worth nearly the 6th pick overall. If Snyder does this, he is confirmed as the biggest idiot in football.
  4. Yep. It's been a good long time since we had real pop off the bench. Lefty pop, too. Just stay healthy, Cliff.
  5. DAMN STRAIGHT!
  6. This time at a bargain basement price, with other BP options available. Not a big deal.
  7. Cool. I haven't followed his career very much. Hopefully you're right. There's always a couple under-the-radar signings that turn out great for teams. Let's hope this is one of them. I think Tommie Harris is going to be fine, which means Adams really only has to be as good as Ian Scott. I don't think that's all that hard (though I liked Scott in his role).
  8. Hard to disagree with this.
  9. Bruins might just take this whole thing.
  10. It's interesting that S & DT have been addressed in FA this year, when Angelo usually likes to draft at those positions. I think this signals a change of approach for JA. He's officially out of building mode -- looking for veteran help instead of relying so heavily on the draft. At this point I really don't have much of a clue what Angelo will do come April.
  11. Cialis has the creepiest ads on TV. There are crimes less shocking that that stuff.
  12. Pitch like this all year Ted, thx.
  13. The radar gun was off. I don't think he actually topped 90. doh, they need to fix those radar readings.. :? Actually, they did fix it during the game. :) How can anyone really know what's correct? I think they're just guessing.
  14. I think his point was that Prior's pitches looked more effective, regardless of their exact velocity, which I think we can agree on. The thing I found most encouraging was that Mark actually pitched more effectively. Beyond that, there seemed to be some mild hope that his fastball was sharper.
  15. Who's making excuses for what he did? Nobody that I can tell. Seems like some are jumping to the conclusion that if you don't want the maximum punishment (more than the maxiumum the law will allow, even) then you are making excuses. Also---someone mark it down, put it in a database, something: Truffle and I agreed on something.
  16. It's the difference between a misdemeanor DUI charge and manslaughter. If that's irrelevant to you, I don't know what else to say. It's a fact that drunk drivers at Tony's level (.93) kill people all the time. Just because an innocent person didn't get in his way and get injured or killed is pure luck. If that's irrelevant to you, I don't know what else to say. I'm not saying it's irrelevant. You're reaching.....badly. All I'm saying is, he did not, in fact, kill anyone. Therefore the punishment will be less. And the punishment *should* be less.
  17. Denver's a club that has been playing much better lately. That was a big win. It really didn't look good, but I liked the way the Bulls stuck with that play to give TT a chance. There were 3 points where Bulls players tipped the ball away from Denver players. Any one of those doesn't happen and Denver gets the ball and we lose. So good play, good to see.
  18. They're making a late season run, which, for my part anyway, was expected.
  19. It's the difference between a misdemeanor DUI charge and manslaughter. If that's irrelevant to you, I don't know what else to say.
  20. Predicting this division is difficult. There's no clear front runner. I'm suprised to see us ranked 5th though.
  21. It's perfectly fine to be more outraged at a higher level. What's disgusting and ignorant is the dismissive attitude toward the light end. "That used to be legal." Nonsense like that is absurd. No, it's not absurd. I was merely trying to gage the level of outrage I would apply to this case. The fact that his BAC wasn't all that high is definitely a factor. I'm not saying it's trivial, I'm just saying he shouldn't be hung from the highest tree as I would advocate for someone who was .25 BAC and plowed into a bus full of kids. You seem to be unable to make that distinction. That's fine, but it's also your problem, not mine. I'm not going to advocate throwing LaRussa to the wolves as I would someone who actually killed someone and was way further above the limit. I would more advocate treatment, and appropriate misdemeanor punishment. And I'm pretty sure the courts will agree.
  22. It's the top two seeds, not the top three, that are determined by overall record. Too bad, too. The Bulls are the 5 seed at present despite having a better winning percentage than both the Wizards and the Raptors. That is true this year. I saw what me meant there that usually it would be the top 3 teams with the best records and then the bad division winner in 4th. It just so happens that 2 of the divisions are poor this year, and so they have to take both the 3rd and 4th spot away from Chicago who has a better record than either of them. It's too flaky. I'd rather it be top 3 by record, then the "bad" division winners. But oh well, at least it seems a little better than before even though it doesn't benefit us.
  23. The courts will take it into account. If he had been .25, it would have definitely been worse for him.
  24. ....which is probably why he pulled over. Yes, it's a bad thing. Maybe Tony should visit a clinic or something. if he had pulled over for that reason you would think he would have put the car in park. .093 is not trivial - there is a reason the limit is what it is. I never said what he did was trivial.
