  1. Don't let stinking Conine beat you. Thx.
  2. That was Theriot, not Murt. The Gameday is throwing some of us off. It says Murt
  3. I don't want to say anything lest I jinx him. You never ask how a guy is doing, don't you know that? :P
  4. Can you order on a website or some other alternate to the phone?
  5. I have to agree with you davhern. I grew up in the north suburbs and I always dreaded fighting the traffic on Irving Park Rd coming from/heading towards 94... same goes for taking the scenic drive down Sheridan Rd. along the lake. And the parking absolutely STINKS! Always has, always will... I always thought and said the Cubs should build a new stadium out near the Tri-State... JMO. Come on guys, this isn't LA. Use the available public transportation. The following for weekend or night games or take the L for weekday games. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/chc/ballpark/directions.jsp The Chicago Cubs operate a shuttle and parking service at the DeVry University campus located off Addison St. and Western Avenue for all weekend and night games. For $6.00 you can park your vehicle and all occupants ride the shuttle free to and from the ballpark. Take advantage of the savings with the easy in and out of our secure remote parking facility. The first shuttle leaves two and one half hour prior to the game. The shuttle runs for one hour after all Night Games and for two hours after all Weekend Day Games. Good point. There's also park n' rides at Howard, and Skokie. I rather enjoy riding the El to the games. I've done it since I was a kid w/ my Dad. Lack of parking @ Wrigley has never been a concern. I actually like the fact that the ballpark isn't surrounded by parking lots.
  6. It might scare him away, LOL.
  7. cuz Briggsy (as good as he is) cant play 3 positions at once... but who would play the will spot? posluszny? Timmons if he is availible @ #20, or possible Rufus Alexander...but there are options this year.. I'd do this deal, and snatch up Timmons. At 20, Timmons would be ultra-cheap compared to what Briggs wants. And Timmons has incredible athleticism, though word is he's a bit raw.
  8. It's interesting. His biggest weakness is that he can't account for injuries. Maybe he should re-run the numbers at the All-Star break to account for changes in rosters. Or better yet, after the trade deadline.
  9. Now watch as ESPN systematically attempts to rebuild Bond's image in anticipation of his breaking the record. They want to hold their grand celebration, they'll need a more likable Barry Bonds. I won't ever recognize Barry Bonds as the home run king. Not ever.
  10. Well, I see we've crossed over into "just make up controversies where none exist" territory. Wonderful. The guy had 72 hours to report, and he reported on time. Done. End. /thread
  11. BTW, if you have DirecTV they're doing free MLB EI this week........wait for it.........wait for it.......INCLUDING HD GAMES! Last night's slate, I counted 2 HD games besides the ESPN one (which EI also offered in HD from the Fox affiliate for St. Louis). Too cool. I might not be able to resist, though I have been doing a good job so far. I think the first time I see Cubs in HD on the schedule and I can't get it, I'm going to have to cave in and buy the EI package.
  12. Yeah, the Charter CSR I talked to said they were negotiating...and that since InDemand just got the deal yesterday they really just started to see what InDemand agreed to...I told them I'd pull everything from them if they didn't get it done...I'm sure they were scared. It's just like Charter to be "just starting to look into" something while games people would be paying for are bleeding away...
  13. Masterful move by MLB. Now they not only get DirecTV's $750 million, but they get to double their pleasure with cable, too. This has to rank as one of the greatest sports broadcasting money-grabs in history. Nice work.
  14. Great statement win by the Bulls. It was better even than I was hoping for. They demoralized the Pistons to such a degree, they just gave up. Empty Palace half-way through the 4th quarter was hilarious and beautiful to see 8-)
  15. Oh, that wasn't that long ago, was it? I thought this was proposed maybe a year ago. Not too much longer.
  16. I love Wrigley. Sometimes I get a bad rap because I'm open to the idea of a new stadium. Doesn't anyone else think it would be awesome to have the Cubs in a brand new, Wrigley-esque ballpark but with all the amenities? One thing we could do that nobody else couldn't, is we could actually HAVE the old scoreboard, HAVE the old Wrigley sign --- we could have any nostalgic piece of old Wrigley we wanted, and just incorporate it into the new ballpark. Isn't that basically what they're doing by rebuilding Wrigley piece-by-piece anyway? The difference being, with old Wrigley there's not enough lot space to really build a modern, top-notch superstructure. Again, I *do* love Wrigley. But new ballpark, with the Cubs, with some of the best parts of old Wrigley........wow, I could see that too.
  17. I've never had to reset, but I did get a "subscription expired" message on my basic tier channels once. This made no sense, obviously. I called and through using the phone menu, the computer was able to send a signal and reset. Now -- I'd rather talk to a human voice. But I did find it interesting that they were able to fix a real problem without needing an operator. I have no idea if DirecTV is blacking out local channels, but if they are then that's crap. Actually, I thought that was in violation of league-wide broadcasting rules. Local people are supposed to be able to get their local team, period. I'd be shocked if they are really doing this, but if they are then somebody should step in and stop it. For the record, I'm still getting Comcast Chicago -- no blackouts are in place, and I have yet to subscribe to MLB EI.
  18. That is a valid concern, but if he'd keep Wrigley and allow for baseball people to run things it can't be all bad right? His success with the Mavs has been long-term. Snyder has never won at all. I don't see how the comparison is valid, although I certainly admit there's no way to predict with 100% certainty that Cuban would be successful here.
