  1. That would feel bad, but it would feel worse if I knew Isaiah might come back for another year of hell if my team has a good showing the last couple weeks of the year.
  2. Well, I hope you get the package sooner rather than later. I laid down $180 for the NBA package one year, and then the Bulls were godawful. I'll never buy a package like that until I feel the team has at least a mild chance at success. Unless it's the NFL, because you know with football I can sit and watch Texans/Cardinals straight through and be completely entertained, even if it's the last game of the year and both clubs are 3-12
  3. Everyone buy gas-guzzling Hummers and support Big Oil. The only way the Cubs will win the World Series is through global warming. We can do this! lol so an "inconvenient truth" could be the key to the Cubs winning this year  But seriously, I don't get the criticism for Lou here. In the proper context, I see nothing wrong with his comments. Reporters kept baiting him; maybe he should have blown off the weather question entirely but he didn't use it as an excuse either. Looking out the window today makes me wonder whether a little global warming is such a bad thing  I understand the spirit of Lou's comments -- they aren't as bad as Dusty at his worst. I think it was stupid to even go there though. Even if you can find a nugget of truth in there somewhere, it's just not a factor you ever want to lend legitimacy to. Teams should be expecting to go out and win every day, regardless of the conditions and regardless if it gives the other team an advantage. That's the mindset I want my manager to have.
  4. If I'm a Knicks fan, I'd actually want them to get blown out as much as possible. Why would any fan want their team to appear to be better than they are? That just leads to a continuation of badness. Big changes must be made in New York. Whole world's known it for quite some time. I think the Knicks players might find they are very, very alone on wanting other teams to take it easy on them.
  5. Anyone else find some sort of perverted comfort in this?

  7. LOL! You tell 'em Du. 8-)
  8. I've been hearing this a lot. If we were to win the division, it wouldn't make it feel any worse knowing that we beat out a Carp-less Cardinal team. I don't wish injury on anyone either, but I'm glad he's out and I hope it's for the season because it hurts a division rival and helps the Cubs. Simple as that. I'm leaning towards this camp. I'd rather beat a full-strength Cards team, but considering the laughable amount of injuries that probably cost us the 2004 division (or at least a wildcard where IMO we would've steamrolled everyone on our way to the Series), we're owed one (or thirty). I wouldn't mind it of course. But it would be that much better to win the division while having a solid winning record against the full-strength Cards. The way we're playing right now we'll need all the injuries to opponents that we can get.
  9. They should call it. We need the break and it looks like it could get dangerous out there.
  10. Our chances of landing either Oden or Durant are extremely slim... I suppose we can dream though.
  11. Ah-ha! Mr. Optimism has arrived :D it's not about optimism or pessimism.... juggling the lineup has little effect on the offensive output. If your team isn't scoring enough you need new players, not a new lineup. Just a friendly jab, no harm meant. I'm not sure I share your opinion 100% however. If someone is struggling it might be worth sitting them for a game to let them clear their head. This entire team should sit for a little while and clear their heads. Anyway, haven't you heard? It's too cold for these Cubs. They should call the game. We can't win.
  12. It's going to be cold in October, too. I guess we're playing the season for nothing. If we ever make the playoffs, it will be too cold. The Astros are built to rely on Berkman and Lee, and they seem to be doing alright. Our best power, Lee & ARam, are having good starts to their seasons in this cold weather. I'm not going to make too much of the comments. Actually I hope they'll just go away and he doesn't make more Dusty-esque missteps. Nobody blames the weather. If I didn't know better, I'd call that a rookie manager mistake.
  13. Using weather as an excuse = lame. I suppose Houston hitters are more 'suited' to cold weather, being from Houston and all. I think what we have here, ladies and gents, is the first bona-fide stupid Lou comment of the year.
  14. Here is today's web chat...from about 2 minutes ago...it "seems" like good news, but who knows if its true...(Read from bottom up) Craig: Thanks. Gerald W: It is just what I have read that I sent to you and they are moving along as quickly as they can. I am very sorry for the mixed messages you have been getting and I do apologize. If further information is required you can phone into 1-888-438-2427. Craig: My concern is that I'll call back tomorrow and I'll get someone else who will say "oh...we're still negotiating"... Craig: Hey, no offense man, but I've got 20 different answers from you guys over the last week...from being told "yes" we've got it, to "no" we won't have it, to "what's MLB-EI"....its very frustrating and since we're over a week into the season I'd like to see a resolution. If you're saying it will happen today I can live with that Gerald W: they are going ahead to complete plans.Do you want to sign up for sometime that is quite finished whats a couple of more hours at a time like this. Craig: So its not confirmed and we're basically "still negotiating" like I've been told for a week now?, Now I'm confused... Gerald W: Anytime once it is confirmed. Craig: If true, that is Great news...when can I order? Gerald W: MLB Extra Innings Update \u2013 Great news! Charter\u2019s Corporate Programming Team is going to go ahead and complete a deal for the MLB Extra Innings PPV package. Talking points and updates will be completed and posted to KMS over the next few days. Please stay tuned for additional information as it becomes available. (H. Christopherson). Craig: I'm looking for an update on the status of availablity of the MLB-Extra Innings package. Gerald W: My name is Gerald, thank you for contacting Charter. How may I help you today? And people say DirecTV service is bad? LOL. I could barely even understand half of what that guy wrote.
  15. Not sure I agree with it either, though I will say if all the top big men are gone there would be little use overpaying a mediocre player just for height. I believe Batum is a top prospect coming out of Europe this year.....thought I heard someone saying he's got potential, but can't remember. I don't keep up on the international game.
  16. Angelo has to look at this Pacman situation and realize that Tank is probably in some trouble and draft accordingly. It will be a trouble area, yes. The draft won't cure it; DTs in the draft often take a year or two of seasoning before they stop getting dominated. That Adams signing is looking real good right now. I think the Bears are going to have to try to pick up a journeyman backup for depth and pray Dusty is a budding star.
  17. Yes, all teams that miss the playoffs are in the lottery, and the Knicks have been a likely lottery team for the past few weeks at least. They've really tanked it out after a decent mid-season.
  18. DON'T PLAY DOWN TO THESE BOZOS. Thanks.
  19. I'm not that well versed, but it seems to me that Levin has no experience with a big time franchise. He's done a nice job with the Wolves, making it a family-friendly experience for the fans at a good price. But isn't this what all minor league clubs offer? The Wolves, by the way, are associated with the Atlanta Thrashers, not any Chicago franchise. It can be debated whether Levin has been responsible for the Wolves' success, or if it has really been due to solid player personnel moves coming from the Thrashers (who are, by the way, now reaping the rewards of those moves). In other words, if the Wolves were associated with the Blackhawks would we even be talking about Levin? I doubt it. I think Levin would be totally and completely out of his league. But hey, I could be wrong. Remember: we get to do this thing, in all likelihood, one more time before we die. Given that, do we want to give our beloved Cubbies over to a total wildcard like Levin? I'd prefer an experienced, successful big time owner.
  20. I don't know about the rest of you. But it occurs to me that other teams sometimes win when the opposition scores more than 3 runs. More than 4, even! Heck, the Cards won semi-regularly last year with their opponents scoring more than 5. So here comes Captain Obvious: why can't we be more like those other teams, instead of constantly complaining when a pitcher doesn't have a Cy Young type outing?
  21. Alrighty Lou, they're struggling. Time to wack 'em over the head a little...or something.
  22. Now 3-0 Will he take a walk? Doubtful. Reverse psychology. It works.
  23. It wasn't that way pre-TJ surgery. I didn't think it was this bad post TJS. I remember it being much better than this. Pre-surgery he was flat out amazing, like Vizquel in his prime. Our scouts botched this one big time. Average fans knew it though. Inexcusable for pro scouts to botch something laymen all know.
