  1. He wouldn't be good at that either. I don't think he would be either, but he could be the sacrificial innings eater for blowout games. I'd rather get the rookies some action in blowouts. Miller is also not a guy I'd want relieving in a winnable game either. If he can't pitch well enough to stay in the rotation I'd just clear his roster spot. Put him in Iowa and make him show he can still play. Send down/cut: Ohman Miller Bring up: Guzman Cherry Problem not necessarily completely solved, but if I'm going to throw a starter out there to get whooped up on, then I'd rather it be a young guy like Guzman who has some upside than Miller, who's career is obviously not going to continue. Lots of us have been saying this for weeks now. There's no reason for Wade to start another game for the Cubs.
  2. Yeah, we'll we're still arguing over who starts where in late April. These are February arguments, not May arguments. There's really no wonder we're bringing up the rear. I expect this will continue unless they figure out what the hell they want to do.
  3. I still think he has the potential to be good, but the current numbers are what they are. He's not all that great at the moment.
  4. I thought it was the Vegas line at first at that seemed high to me given national opinion. Also wanted my 6 wins opinion to be on the over side. How are you only picking 6 wins? I thought you had us in the conference finals?
  5. Alright, good. So now we know. Next bus for Iowa leaves at 5:30.
  6. No way Lou makes it out of April without an explosion on the field. God, he's got to be thinking retirement looks real appealing right about now.
  7. The fact that Pie needed to stay on the bench in that situation just further illustrates why Cedeno is a big concern. You can't throw Pie out there as a pinch runner every time. Sometimes, it's got to be Ronny. And he's brutal. I try to be nice, but this kid should be spared further embarrassing himself and sent back to AAA where he belongs.
  8. THIS....is beyond doubt. And THIS has been the cause of the problems through the years. Again...as the original poster stated....with a very few exceptions. Those of you in you in your 20's and 30's....buckle up....this team has been breaking peoples hearts for 90+ years. What you are seeing is not new. Its been the norm forever. That they havent gotten lucky and stumbled into a World Series along the way is astonishing. We're cursed. It's got to be.
  9. Lou not going to be much happier with the base running after today, that's for sure!
  10. He just cost us a game, and it won't be the last. He's not the only concern, but he's pretty high on the list. Every time he gets in the game it's badness all around.
  11. This club sure doesn't look like it's going to magically start hitting. I will say that. God am I ever glad I didn't pay for EI. Talk about $200 -ish bucks down the toilet.
  12. Lou will find a way to put Ronny on a bus. Dusty did everything in his power to keep Neifi a Cub. There's a difference.
  13. LaRussa gets more wins like this. If he's drunk he sure does know more baseball then many do when they are sober. The Cards just jimmied a win because they know the game, and we obviously don't. I've never heard of that rule -- but all the Cards do. Cub players obviously don't. There's your difference in organizations right there.
  14. No. It's an out because even on a walk you are entitled to take a base, but if you overslide then all bets are off an you can be tagged out. Ronny took more than he was entitled to.
  15. thanx. it's official. Ronny must go.
  16. I'll take you one step further. Ronny Cedeno is a crappy baseball player, and has no business in the major leagues. I'm sure he's a great kid. But he's the Sanjaya of Cubbie-dom. He needs to be gone. You've got Angel Guzman at AAA and this guy is in the majors, for Christ's sake.
  17. Alright. I've never heard of it before. Must be a rule then. That's the risk with having Cedeno run. His baseball IQ is about the same as a water boy.
  18. Hmmm, I can't see the game but surely on a walk it's a dead ball situation.
  19. WTH is goin' on? LaRussa trying to gt Izzy some extra time to rest?
  20. LOL, if Jacque would have K'd this place would have melted down
  21. Take the 'premium' out of the url and it's a regular link. Whew. I didn't rail on Hill. I was definitely thinking that his late season '06 doesn't *necessarily* translate into '07 success though. I thought the same of Theriot. Happily, it looks like both are on track as of now. Hope it stays that way. There's still more upside to explore with both guys, IMO.
  22. They better go over 4, that's all.
  23. Cashman looking like a genius right now. Seemed like the entire city of NY wanted ARod gone after last year. IIRC, it was Cashman who came out and said they wouldn't necessarily be unloading him.
  24. I don't see how someone couldn't be concerned. The guy is sucking. Just because he's pulled out of it in other seasons doesn't mean he will this year. He's also never been quite *this* bad in April, IIRC. Sure, I'm hoping he'll snap to it. I'm definitely concerned though. I think his velocity looks alright -- that's something good at least. Doesn't look to me like he might be injured or anything (knock on wood..........bad pun).
