  1. actually, I don't think that's the rule as explained by Len and Bob. I think the 'when a play is made on the obstructed runner' before 'the play is dead' is significant. in other words, DeRo and Pie are still in danger of being put out, until they make a play on Pagan. once they do that, the play is dead. it's a good rule as it doesn't reward the defense for interference by making the play dead right then and there and preventing the other runners from the opportunity of advancing. OK, that's what it sounded like they said to me.
  2. Haha. Yeah, Hawk sometimes goes silent for entire innings. It's pretty funny actually.
  3. Hawk: "This'll be overturned under protest!!!" The League: "Um, no, once obstruction occurs the play is dead, period." I think I'll be taking the league in any bets on how this will turn out.
  4. You mean like Ozzie? LOL. The Sox love this kind of low-brow, hacking, spitting, bush-league stuff.
  5. Pagan needs to learn that there's such a thing as a cutoff.
  6. Alright so do the White Sox get to whine about this forever, with every minor coach they have? Give me a break, he obstructed our guy, you freaking lose. Time to move on. How about teaching Uribe how to play freaking baseball next time? kthxbye
  7. Would be nice if the Brewers were scheduled to play actual major league teams every once in awhile. Ozzie tossed 8-) 8-) 8-)
  8. They're calling the interference, and saying nobody would have been out if not for it. Gonna work out nicely for the Cubs, for a damn change. Actually, this might be the FIRST time all year.
  9. Pie needs to score from 3rd there. He stopped (or was stopped) for no good reason. Looks like Quade held him -- very bad.
  10. Yeah, how convenient. hawk now whining about the 2-2 pitch not being called a strike Actually, I listened to Hawk & DJ yesterday and maybe it's just me, but they seemed unusually complimentary of the Cubs for some reason. They were almost gushing over Lee & Ramirez.
  11. Hill had periods of total shakiness and periods of total dominance. Marshall was consisently spotting well. overall, I think Hill probably has to get the nod as the defense did alot to bail Marshall out today. but overall a really tough comparison. I agree. It seemed there were a few balls hit by both sides that would have been homers on another day, too. Only Soriano's monster shot made it out of the ballpark. Good defense definitely helped Sean today. But hey -- he's here to give us innings and gut out some victories where & when he can, so he's doing a good job IMO.
  12. Marshall was throwing fine, and Dempster is not available. This was a dumb change. didn't the sox go like 1-66 against someone's bullpen last week? not saying he shoulda pulled him, but going from a soft tossing lefty to a hard throwing righty might just put the dagger in a team that clearly can't adjust to new pitchers. they weren't doing crap against the guy who was in there already hey, i said i didn't agree with the choice, but i can see where they got their inclination to do so. we also don't know if marshall said something to lou or larry when he was in the dugout last time. he didn't seem to argue too much when lou came out for him. That is very, very true. Marshall was neither surprised or upset. They had hit 3 or 4 warning track flyouts the last few outs, so maybe he told them he simply didn't have much left in the tank, or maybe they decided it themselves and he just agreed. Maybe Lou is a little better about not throwing his pitchers 100+ pitches every time out, too -- unlike Dusty.
  13. Wow that last pitch was clearly a strike. At any rate, has Lou used Marmol too much? Maybe he's a little gassed?
  14. Yeah, he was fearless, taking the mound knowing there was nothing left. Somehow in '98 he got the job done consistently. RIP Shooter. 38 is just way too young to die, no matter what. BTW Len & Bob just announced it on the Cubs broadcast too.
  15. OK, but where did you get this info?
  16. 11 K's now. I'm watching this guy, and the more I do, the more I realize how ridiculous it is to suggest he didn't deliberately throw at Lee. This guy has absolute pinpoint control, nothing gets away from him, and certainly not up high. He was no-hitting the Cubs when it happened, and it just so happens he "loses it" against our superstar? Absolutely ridiculous. Young is a damn fine pitcher, and he head hunted Lee without any doubt whatsoever.
  17. Shockingly, the signing of a MLB contract or two does not magically confer moral fortitude on a player. If guilty, put him away like any other criminal.
  18. Agreed. Thanks for being a voice of reason, Bruce. Bruce should call in to Murph's show and clear it up with him, because I was listening the other day and he was saying it was justified that the Cubs traded Barrett because he was "leaking to the press that everyone hated Lou, when really it was only Barrett." (that's a paraphrase). Apparently it has gotten around to other media members that Barrett is a bad guy who was backstabbing people. I find that very hard to believe.
  19. Go to hell! That is the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen on this board. Seriously, it's the grounds fault? Please. There is nothing wrong with the field itself. I've walked on it, run through the diamond (as part of the Wrigley neighbord days) and that is the least of their worries. Sometimes it's tough to read when a poster is being sarcastic. I didn't think that one was all that difficult to pick up on.
  20. Yeah, stranding leadoff doubles and triples is a specialty of the 2007 Cubs. Surely, a good indicator of a bad ballclub.
  21. Yeah I was just going to say -- unfortunately looks like Vaz is getting it together.
