  1. not that i'm worried too much about the development of Fox, but i hate to see Lou make a decision on whether or not the team "needs another bat" based a two week stretch. especially when you consider Fox isn't likely to play much during that stretch. that's extremely short-sighted. anyone can have a hot or cold two week stretch. He'd likely be back up in September anyway, right?
  2. When it comes from people who work at the Tribune, I can only assume it's because Cuban is an outsider and each of them probably has a more 'inside' candidate they've been eyeing for awhile. Given 98 years of failure, mark me down for wanting some outside help at this point.
  3. Well, Hardy has finally started to come down to earth (*KNOCK ON WOOD*) Hopefully Braun is next on the list of overperforming Brewers to regress to their mean.
  4. That'll do it. 3.5 back again :)
  5. They do have some fireballers in that bullpen (AZ), I'll give them that much. Not necessarily well-controlled, but power.
  6. And I think the fact she's mentioned at least twice that Bruce can back her up adds credibility as well. It's not her fault if nobody actually takes her up on it and asks Bruce. who are your sources? Mine is this great radio station. Oddly enough, the broadcast range exactly matches the diameter of my cranium. :-s
  7. Think Augie'll hit .342 for the rest of the year?
  8. Yes, I want to see Brewer fans leaving early 8-)
  9. Pena has been really good this year. 2.26 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 34 K/15 BB in 51 2/3 IP this year. And Milton Bradley just HRed to put the Padres up 3-0 His fastball is electric, I'm seeing 98 on the gun if it's to be believed. But he's been horrible at targeting it. Graffy just gave him a gift by swinging at ball 4.
  10. Good to know that we're not the only team that walks him. I believe that's 5 all year for Mench, and 2 of them tonight. D-Backs catcher just pulled a Kendall, missed a popup behind the plate because he didn't see it.
  11. Add horrible relievers who can't get the ball over the plate to the list of D-Backs flaws...
  12. I'm liking these new MLBEI features. Anyone else getting these? Press the red button when you are on a MLBEI channel......pop up scores, standings, stats......cool stuff! 8-)
  13. Prince missed a homer by about a foot. D-Backs huffing and puffing trying to keep the Crew down.
  14. You don't wanna know........but, Giants
  15. The pretender contenders strike! The way Miller Park shut up as that one sailed over the left-center wall was awesome.
  16. yyyyyyyyyYYYYEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh.... that felt good, really really good 8-) D-Backs up 5-2
  17. I doubt they'll be over .500 much longer. It's Hudson, and like Byrnes, and that's it. Oh, they have Webb, that's pretty good. The Milwaukee guys were amazed the D-Backs picked up Byrnes off the waiver wire from the Rockies. That's not a bad pickup, true, but he projects out at around 25 homers this year, and he's *the guy* in the lineup. After that it's pretty much Hudson, who was an all-star because Byrnes isn't up to it and they needed to send someone. That's what I'm getting just watching these past few days anyway. They're severely power-starved. I can't see them bobbing above .500 for much longer.
  18. Gotta love them starting Augie. Granted he's at the bottom of the order, but it's still Augie Ojeda on a team in contention. 2-8 in their last 10, fielding a lineup that honestly I don't see much difference over the Giants.... They were pretenders and are now done. I was just playin' around :)
  19. I feel a massive D-Back EXPLOSION comin' on tonite!!!
  20. And I think the fact she's mentioned at least twice that Bruce can back her up adds credibility as well. It's not her fault if nobody actually takes her up on it and asks Bruce. What does credibilty mean? That she actually works for the trib or that she has inside information that she can only hint at while sounding important? I can believe the former and I question the latter. I suppose. I kind of stopped caring about credibility on this board once I realized it's just a MB and not in and of itself a source of truth. If I can't check the real sources, then I'll just do what comes naturally, take it with a grain of salt. No one on here knows who anyone is anyway, outside of Bruce who is probably more brave than any of us to let it be known his actual identity. If I'm not going to reveal who I am, then I don't feel like I should demand anyone else do so. And I'm not going to reveal who I really am. That's just my 2 cents.
  21. Playing Hill today will light a fire under Kendall? :-s
  22. Winning does wonders to demeanor... No matter how one feels about JJ, I agree it is good to see him playing like a kid & enjoying the game. He isn't a bad guy, I think, so I hope he continues playing w/ some joy. maybe we'll get lucky in the process & he'll start producing on a semi-regular basis... How'd he do today? Work called me away, I missed the whole game, including Hill's performance
  23. They applauded him early, then booed him late. I kind of chuckled at that.
  24. Kendall can't possibly know the pitching staff yet. Maybe it was just too soon to start him in the first place. I hate that Soto was sent down and Hill is still here.
  25. Gotta figure the Crew will make mincemeat out of the Giants, and I have little hope the D-Backs can beat them. Looks like we'll be sliding in the standings comin' up.
