  1. His .097 batting average and .121 On Base % meant enough to get him a bus ride to Iowa. He'll be back, and hopefully he will be doing what we all feel he is capable of doing. 31 ABs are meaningless enough. 31 ABs over a monthlong period are worse. 31 ABs over a monthlong period with half coming off the bench cold aren't worth the time to come up with something clever to end this. Ronny was absolutely terrible last year. He was also 23. He's done nothing but mash in AAA this year, and has been instructed by my baseball god Von Joshua. I think it's worth giving him a chance. The only problem arising from this as far as promoting Cedeno, promoting Murton are these things have to be accompanied by Jones and Izturis being moved. It's moving the high priced guys that seem to be the problem, not the low priced guys underperforming. Our GM/ownership is too damn stubborn to dump a contract, and it's hurting the team because of it. I'm ready to give Ronny another shot, although as you mentioned, his suckiness in the bigs isn't just isolated to the 31 ABs he had at the beginning of the season. We should bring him up. He's a good kid, maybe he's improved his plate discipline as we all hope. Izworthless should go.
  2. That will suck if both Lee & ARam are out.
  3. Well done. that might work better for me, than the bottle of patron i have been using. Yep. He's our new owner until proven otherwise, brilliant!
  4. No. Bruce doesn't write articles with a clear anti-Cub bias. When Bruce is critical, it's backed up with facts. Sullivan doesn't. If Sullivan posted here, he'd be treated like we treat anyone who makes poor arguments. He'd be called out and made to defend his arguments. Bruce more often sticks to the facts he knows instead of going off into a diatribe of his opinions. I like that. Sullivan's opinions mean little to me, but I do understand that having strong opinions, even if they aren't well backed-up, can gain readership -- rightly or wrongly. Look at Mariotti.
  5. Any argument made in favor of Kendall took a hit long before last night. I argued it's nigh impossible for the Kendall deal to hurt us. That also took a hit last night. He better not be this bad. Blanco, save us!!! 8-)
  6. LOL..who did that fatass know in the Tribune company to get such a job. c'mon... he works on the grounds crew, it's not like you have to be in peak physical condition to do that sort of thing. I feel bad for the guy, he's obviously overweight and wasn't able to keep up with the rest of the grounds crew, and for some reason the ESPN cameraman saw fit to single him out on national television. I was at a game where they came out to pick up some garbage and one of them actually fell down. Might of been that guy. I don't know if it was the Cubs, but one of these groundscrew guys got sucked under the tarp as they were taking it off the field. God, that was funny. I felt bad for the guy though.
  7. If they screened the questions properly, we would never hear about how much he hates Wood and Prior questions because he would never receive them. I understand the jaded bit, but I mean come on. If you constantly insult the people who are reading your reports and boo-hooing at every perceived slight by the Cubs organization, who are you doing a service to? I've become convinced that Sullivan's work is largely schtick intentionally designed to give the impression that the Trib isn't providing biased coverage towards the team they in fact own. Just to play devil's advocate on this, say Bruce Miles had his articles published by the Tribune. Would the perception be that his work was biased? Probably not, which goes back to the overall bitterness and some times sensationalistic quality of Paul Sullivan's work. Bruce Miles work is for a different organization. A different organization = different expectations or requirements. I'm not in any way trying to defend the drivel that is usually the tenor of Sullivan's work. I'm simply suggesting that he has his job because the Trib likes his 'unbiased' Cubs coverage. Yes, I would imagine he has a job because the Tribune wants him to. Hard to come to any other conclusion than that. We're talking about him on here, so I guess he would say "you're reading it," and that's the primary job he has: get people to read it.
  8. His baserunning this year has been excellent. I've seen him run extremely hard on routine grounders all season. He got hurt trying to beat a ball out. You're taking one incident, where he thought a ball was going out and didn't, and saying that he's still a lazy, disinterested baserunner. That's completely wrong. Well I certainly hope you're right and I'm wrong in the general. Doesn't change my opinion of the specific. ARam's mucked things up in the past by standing and admiring near-homers. It's frustrating to see it continue even when it doesn't wind up costing the Cubs. When? There are millions of babies starving in Africa, although if you wanted to challenge me on that, I couldn't name you even one. I can't recall the exact dates and times when ARam's standing at the plate while the ball caroms off the wall has bit him and the Cubs in the behind. But I can recall it happening more than once. We'd struggle to win 65 games without this guy, but you're going to damn him because of a couple non-specific times when he has 'mucked things up'?? Come on dave. That's silly and I venture to say you know it.
  9. It confused me for a second, but then I looked a little closer at the screen names 8-)
  10. This sucks. I'm going to join Mike Vick's dog fighting ring.
  11. Despite their record, they actually have a big negative run differential. They've basically been really lucky this season. Looking at the DBacks lineup...I have no idea how that team is above 500 I've been thinking the same thing as I've watched these Brewer games.
  12. Augie in to run for the D-Backs. The Crew are doomed.
  13. We play the D-Backs right? They better suck as hard against us as they are against the Crew right now.
  14. Not when it's ended by a game like this. I think I might go out and kill a random dog.
  15. Well at least I get to watch us lose in HD tonight.
  16. I'm having trouble comprehending that just happened. Circuit overload. Must be a trick or something. He didn't just walk in that run. Couldn't be.
  17. Oh for God's sake. This is starting to get horrid. HORRID.
  18. Crew blew a bases loaded opportunity. D-Backs still in it, down 3-2
  19. phew. one more out to get. does lou pull him?
