Most interesting playoff in years, IMO.

Leonhard is way more than just a Chryst holdover. He's a 40 year old alum with 10 years or relatively recent NFL experience. His defenses have largely been very good to excellent. Beyond all of this we were in the same freshman history section. Word is that Aranda was the other coach seriously considered. I’m sure he’s a great guy. This team needs an offense.

Purdue is terrible but whatever. When the entire division is junk you wind with a mediocre team celebrating their turn to go get slaughtered by the other division that has all the actual football programs of note. As for the Badgers. Word is we’re hiring Jim Leonhard, even though he’s a holdover from the Chryst failure, even though he’s just lost the biggest game - the one game - anyone cared about him winning this year, and even though he’s never been anywhere other than Wisconsin as a coach. Why the horsefeathers even fire Chryst if you’re just going to stick with his program anyway? I mean what the horsefeathers are they even thinking? Rant off.

They’ll be reckless with him. What wouldn’t be reckless? Handing the ball off would be safe but accomplishes nothing. For Fields to develop he must be exposed to the actual game.

Maybe DET if they remember that they're bad. Detroit has some semblance of a pass rush. We don't. In that case, we're toast. I don't know man, maybe we pull a Patriots-type game on one team and win. I'm just watching the Fields drives now, and assuming we don't stop the other team's O. It's pretty much been the case since we traded away Quinn/Roquan. Given that, you're probably right and we lose out.

All they gotta do is transport Fields to that brighter future in one piece.

Fields is getting clobbered on drop backs too so I guess the only way to really protect him is sit him out. At some point they have to close the deal in a few comebacks but I don’t see it this year.

He’s going to need to fit it into tight coverage because I don’t think receivers are getting open very often.

In baseball a player gets one chance typically to be “clutch.” In football the QB gets to put together a drive, can fail multiple times and still complete the comeback.

It’s not fun watching these losses. Yeah it’s fun thinking of the possibilities but losing sucks period. I've been saying it for years and I 100% meant it, and now that I'm getting it I'm not sorry: I would rather lose with an elite offense than slog through another 11-win, championship-defense, "if only we had a QB" season. Well, you are presenting two crappy options as if there aren’t any others. I think we all know where we want this team to go. I can’t sit here and say a day like today was enjoyable in and of itself. I’m definitely hopeful for what may come.
