Admittedly I don't follow executive-level sports figures much, but he has a ton of NFL experience, has expanded the B1G, scored a record TV haul, and helped get the Vikings their new stadium. Seems like a great move to me.
The lesson in all of this is probably not to count on NFL coaching to scheme lesser players into something good. Talent wins out in the NFL. I’ll accept payment in the form of a donation to the Hoboken Public Education Foundation: http://www.hobokenpef.org/ https://hobokenpef.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/hobokenpef/donation.jsp You can acknowledge Ryan Poles in the donation form Done and done. Matched.
It’s just hard for me to believe they “punt” on a talent like Fields without even seeing what he could do combing his running with a legit pass protecting line. But I guess you can’t refuse to even listen to offers when the team was the worst in the league and has a talent deficit up & down the roster. I’d be disappointed In that moment for sure though.
Maybe it's just because they have so often been bad, but I have never disliked the Lions like the Packers or Vikings. I wish they could have got in the playoffs this year.I’m sure I would hate them just as much if they won a lot. What they have brewing now looks legit.
I have to say, I was not a fan of him tanking, but if you're gonna do it... This is what you needed to happen. Hang an “Open for Business” sign on Halas Hall right now.
A good FU parting gift to an organization about to fire him after a single season. The Houston Texans is the worst organization in the NFL, by far. And, quite possibly, the worst organization in professional sports. Good. Hope Lovie’s last move causes them to continue to suck for another 5 years.
Too funny. Texans / Colts was the one game not on at the bar and I was visiting with friends so I totally missed this. Oh well, glad the tank worked to the max.
So dumb Least dumb of all the scenarios that got thrown out. Mixon posted the league rules around game cancellations, saying those should simply be followed here. It's a cancelled game and there's a game cancellation policy. Horrible situation surrounding the cancellation but I'm not sure why the existing policy isn't used.
Jury is still out but man does Claypool look like a major fail right now. What was the point anyway since there wasn't going to be a real shot at developing this rapport between Fields and a WR without several other necessary pieces in the pass game? I would expect Poles as a good GM to realize that, especially since his whole plan was to tank, build draft picks, and spend them in the offseason. It sure looks to me like he shot his own plan in the foot.
I believe Saturday is going to want to win that game. Lovie probably will too. I don't have any actual proof but Saturday is interim and Lovie I just can't see being on board with a tank game. If I had to put money on it, I'd say Texans win. Under Saturday the Colts have turned into a dumpster fire of Epic proportions. The Bears might even beat them at this point.
This game should not be played. I don't think it will. Baseball played a 60 game season and crowned a World Series champion. Big picture: this isn't that big a deal. Just accept that it's an unavoidable situation and let the playoffs fall where they may based on whatever modified metrics the league wants to put in place.
