  1. I wouldn't call it hurting the Cubs. I would call the help to the Brewers in the season and the hurting of the Padres in the playoffs about equal as far as the Cubs are concerned. Gotta get there first, man-dinga  But I do see your point.
  2. And something that happens thousands of miles away winds up hurting the Cubs. Wonderful. That's just so typical.
  3. So I guess the Cards will play a junk lineup, huh. Blah -- I can't really blame LaRussa but that sucks. I think there's a real good chance the Crew sweeps the Cards. Hate to say it. Now the news of Bradley being out for the year for SD. This thing is *NOT* over, folks. The Cubs must manage at least 3 games in the final week, IMO. They've got to take it not just back in.
  4. This could be the best chance for the Cards to win a game. Please God (asking God because I don't think we can count on LaRussa)
  5. I'd be floored if Barry doesn't go be a DH next year. His fielding has gone down big time. Why would he even want to run around on those knees in the field when he doesn't have to? He has DH written all over him. But then again, I don't understand many of the things Bonds does.
  6. All three players are under Brewer team control for a while. Braun was just called up mid season, so Brewers control his rights for the next 6 years. Fielder and Hart, I'm guessing are under control each for at least the next 4+ years. None of those players are going anywhere. So the info's not incorrect, it just doesn't include that the Crew still controls these guys for years. Thx, I felt like something was missing from the picture -- I'm not an expert on how these contract things work.
  7. That was before today, at least I am assuming it will go down after today. Cubs = 97.4 Brewers = 2.6 Wow, it's really that much in our favor now? I could see the crew ripping off, say 5-2 in their last 7 at home. Cubs would need to win 2 games, on the road. That's losing 2/3 in each series. Ok, it's definitely in our favor big time but I would have thought more like 80%. If you played the season out 100 times from this point, wouldn't you think a team thats 3.5 games up with 6 to play would win it more than 80 times? Remember the computer doesn't know that a few days ago it was tied. The Cubs could have been 20 games up in mid-August and now 3.5 up. Either way, the odds that a team has managed to be good enough amass a 3.5 game lead through 156 games will be able to win enough to make the playoffs an extremely high perentage of the time I guess that depends on what the sim takes into account. Are they factoring in the Crew's home record, which is excellent? Are they factoring in the Cards, who are a dead team playing like they're dead? Are they factoring in how difficult it has been for us against the Reds? Or the fact that the Marlins are still playing well with their young players? I'll take it, don't get me wrong. I just think 97% is high, that's almost out of the realm of possibility for the Crew. But I could see them winning a ton this final week, and a stumble on the road is not out of the question IMO for the Cubs. I know the odds are very much in our favor.
  8. I love how Froemming is quick to interject into the situation when he doesn't even know what was really said.
  9. Alright, thanks. I was like "whoa!" Hehe.
  10. Sounds like a wild rumor. I do find it interesting that 6 months ago Yanks fans would have been cheering this. Haha, hilarious.
  11. I just looked at a couple sites because I was curious. It says Fielder is only signed for this year, so is Corey Hart. ....and Braun only has a deal for this year? That's a big chunk of the Crew's hitting lineup. Is this true? If so, don't they need to open up the wallet for next year? Could we possibly pick up a Corey Hart in F.A. - ? I'd take him. FYI: here are the sites: http://mlb4u.com/teamcontract.php?team=Milwaukee%20Brewers http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2005/01/milwaukee-brewers.html I'm just bringing it up because I've heard almost NO talk of Brewer players who they need to re-sign, so I assumed they're good for a couple years on some of these guys. I was pretty suprised to see this -- am I just reading it wrong or is the info incorrect? We could use some hitting and Hart's going to be out there? Heck, sign him. Crew can't protect everyone, are they going to bring back a Hart for decent dollars if they need to shell out huge megabucks for Fielder? Hmmm....
  12. I agree. Helton was just standing there and I'd love to know what he was really thinking when this was going on. He's in the playoff hunt right now so it would help his team if Bradley is suspended. This could turn out to be a very interesting situation. A good ump is never noticed and this guy, if this is true, should be severely punished imo. An ump baiting a player is just ridicules. Wait, I just noticed that. Did you say Helton is "unbiased," Keener? Au contraire' my good buddy.
  13. Just getting there would cause me to order mucho Cubs stuff pronto.
  14. Froemming obviously told his umpiring crew to get Padre players suspended for the Brewer series. Come on, isn't it obvious? The long arm of Froemming strikes again.

  16. And that's different from us if we win the division... how, exactly? we outlasted 5 teams, 5 of which are pretty lousy nah, 4 are very lousy and one is all right We wound up playing the 2 bottom feeders of the division, who by the time we saw them were playing probably better than the other 2 "contenders" in the division, LOL 8-) What a world.
  17. Everyone ready to see goats running across the screen every game and endless re-runs of Bartman?? HERE. WE. GO. AGAIN. WITH. THE. CRAP. :x
  18. I have found that the "strap back" hats like those fit large heads better than some of the other varieties. I stay away from anything that's a velcro-back, they always have way too small a radius for me. Fitted is always best as you say, of course.
  19. Let's stick with gawking over the Angels versions and avoid the hated jinx. Yes, I'm a big chicken. 8-)
  20. Soul

    NL MVP?

Close between Holliday and Fielder. The bugaboo is that the leading playoff teams right now don't seem to have the best players. Throws a wrench into the works a little bit. I think Holliday's go the edge in some hitting categories. Fielder's terrible in the field too, how.......ironic :) I'll go Holliday, but I think Fielder's the hotter story. I'm torn on it. I know who MY MVP is....Aramis Ramirez. Kid has come through so big time these past few weeks. Love the Ram.
  21. Just cramping, according to the in-game report.
  22. LOL, fun to hear the crying in Milwaukee. Their pain is soothing to my nerves.
  23. I find it amazing how quickly and easily DeRo has become a "voice" for this club. He's a good interview, speaks well -- says all the right things. What a great signing.
  24. Looks like a fun Sunday @ Wrigley :) :)
