  1. Damn, apparently I missed my pick. Yeah, we cut the time to 12 hours each. If you want to change the pick, though, you can. Andy hasn't picked yet.
  2. No problem. I had to go look those up - didn't remember them offhand either.
  3. According to NFL.com's draft order, the Bucs' only 4th round pick went to the Texans through the Eagles. The Bucs traded a 2011 4th rounder and this year's 4th to Philly so they could move up and take Luke Stocker last year. Philly then packaged this 4th round pick plus a third rounder to the Texans for Demeco Ryans and a third rounder.
  4. The Dolphins traded away one big, athletic receiver in Brandon Marshall, so I'll give them another one here. The Dolphins select Marvin McNutt, WR, Iowa. Andy and the Panthers are on the clock. I'll PM him. Next 3 picks: 105. Bills (imb!) 106. Seahawks (sulley) 107. Chiefs (Tiger)
  5. Really? Continuity is the biggest thing here, I think. Smith was on the Arkansas staff a year ago, so he's familiar with the current players and coaches. He'll probably keep a lot of the stuff intact and keep things familiar for everybody. I question his ability to coach long-term and Arkansas signing him to a long term deal would be a mistake, but I don't think it's a terrible one-year, interim move. It was probably the best, or nearly the best, of a bunch of bad options at this point.
  6. The Redskins need some depth on the offensive line with Jammal Brown getting a bit old and injured. I like Nate Potter's athleticism in Shanahan's scheme and think he could be a good fit. So, the Redskins select Nate Potter, OT, Boise State. ManCrushOnNomar and the Dolphins are now on the clock. Next 3 picks: 104. Panthers (Andy) 105. Bills (imb!) 106. Seahawks (sulley)
  7. gorbs authorized me to take LB Sean Spence from Miami. raw and the Jaguars are now on the clock.
  8. The new interim head coach at Arkansas is . . . . John L. Smith
  9. Packers cut Chad Clifton after he failed a physical. Also, Brian Dawkins will retire.
  10. Next 3 picks: 100. Browns (gorbs27) 101. Jaguars (rawaction) 102. Redskins (dew) If you're not sure you'll be able to make the pick or need help with it, feel free to post here or PM me.
  11. I'll go ahead and give the Vikings Aaron Henry and if hawkeye gets back and doesn't like it, he can change it. sulley and the Texans are up.
  12. Is this too early for Jeff Demps? He would fit hawkeye's description perfectly, but seems a bit risky here. Michael Smith might be another possibility. Tauren Poole might be the best back left, but that's not saying a lot. The safeties have been picked pretty clean for the moment, I think. I like Janzen Jackson's talent a lot, but there's a lot of question marks there. Maybe Aaron Henry as well?
  13. Next 3 picks: 98. Vikings (hawkeye) 99. Texans (sulley) 100. Browns (gorbs27) If you're not sure you'll be able to make the pick or need help with it, feel free to post here or PM me.
  14. Turbin's a shifty running back from Utah State. Shifty isn't the word I would use for the 230 pounder. I kind of see him as a Shonn Greene clone. Yeah, not sure what I was thinking there. I might have been confusing Turbin with Utah State's QB from last year (Keeton, I believe) who is pretty shifty, and exciting. Or I might have been confused because I was posting right after I woke up.
  15. Turbin's a shifty running back from Utah State.
  16. Ok, we'll move on into the 4th round and cut the the time per pick down to 12 hours. Hopefully that'll allow us to get through the entire round by Thursday night. Next 3 picks: 97. Colts (CCP, Exile) 98. Vikings (hawkeye) 99. Texans (sulley) If you're not sure you'll be able to make the pick or need help with it, feel free to post here or PM me.
  17. Safety hasn't really been picked that much, it's a fairly good value here. There's also a running back or two (Robert Turbin in particular) who are pretty good values. Wide receiver is another. A lot of it depends on personal preference, though. I don't think there's any obvious great value left on the board.
  18. My guess is a guy like Byrd can almost always be pawned off around the deadline to a contender if you're looking to get next to nothing and paying his entire contract. If nothing else, somebody would take him in that scenario simply to be a bench bat or 25th man. That said, I'm perfectly fine with this deal. Bowden's about as good a return as we could hope to get barring Byrd playing great the rest of the way to the break. If the PTBNL is a prospect with any upside at all, it becomes that much better. When I thought the return was Thomas/prospect, I thought waiting a little longer might have done some good. I don't think the Bowden/PTBNL deal would be topped by any real margin later on.
  19. What are the thoughts about doing a 4th round? I tend to doubt we'd be able to get through the entire 4th round before Thursday night, unless we shorten the time per pick (12 hours maybe?). Do we go ahead and see how far we get, start a mock 2.0 and redo the first round, or just quit off after soccer10k picks?
  20. gooney asked me to make this pick. Giants select Tyrone Crawford, DE, Boise State. High upside, developmental guy who will fit well behind the Pierre-Paul/Tuck/Umenyiora(maybe) group at DE. Mike Martin was also a possibility, but Crawford seems to fit a bit better. The Raiders are now on the clock and soccer10k finally gets a pick. I'll PM him.
  21. Asante Samuel is now apparently being offered for a 5th-6th round pick. Really no reason at this point for the Titans not to get involved, unless he just won't restructure his deal at all.
  22. DLee was 22 when he struck out 38% of the time in 22 games his first year. LaHair is 29. That's a huge qualifier in that comparison.
  23. If anybody doesn't want to continue to Round 4, let me know either here or via PM. I'm guessing there will be enough interest, but if enough people drop out then we'll stop after the third round. Next 3 picks: 94. Giants (gooney) 95. Raiders (soccer10k) 96. Rams (Snayke) Again, if anybody isn't sure they'll be available to make the pick, shoot me a PM with your top 4 choices.
  24. I'm in the same boat. Pitchers in free agency concern me quite a bit anyway - and even moreso pitchers who will likely be seeking huge 6 year deals and have anxiety problems.
  25. If anybody doesn't want to continue to Round 4, let me know either here or via PM. I'm guessing there will be enough interest, but if enough people drop out then we'll stop after the third round. Next 3 picks: 90. Ravens (WF22) 91. 49ers (Raisin) 92. Patriots (Splinter) Again, if anybody isn't sure they'll be available to make the pick, shoot me a PM with your top 4 choices.
