Really? Continuity is the biggest thing here, I think. Smith was on the Arkansas staff a year ago, so he's familiar with the current players and coaches. He'll probably keep a lot of the stuff intact and keep things familiar for everybody. I question his ability to coach long-term and Arkansas signing him to a long term deal would be a mistake, but I don't think it's a terrible one-year, interim move. It was probably the best, or nearly the best, of a bunch of bad options at this point.
