  1. I still think Gruden ends up in the NFL. Though there's an extreme amount of smoke all over the place around here (not just fans - people like Ron Higgins and Erin Andrews, for what it's worth, are saying Gruden to UT is basically a done deal). I actually think there's a real chance we end up with Jimbo Fisher. He's apparently unhappy at FSU and has a good relationship with Dave Hart. Wouldn't be quite as sexy as a Stoops/Gruden hire, but I think it could be just as good. Any FSU fans have thoughts on that?
  2. All good points and exactly the reasons why I can't imagine this is true. Honestly, the guy who's reporting it is the only reason I give it any credence at all.
  3. That's kind of what I was figuring, but it's really nice to think about. The guy who reported it generally doesn't report rumors unless he's got a reliable source from inside the athletic department telling him, though.
  4. So there's apparently a rumor floating around locally from a guy who doesn't report on things without pretty solid sources that Bob Stoops has expressed interest in Tennessee through "back channels." I can't believe that would be true, but if it is, wow . . .
  5. I've been against firing Dooley all season, but it had to be done. He benched Bray late in the first half in what was obviously a desperation move. I think he lost the players after that. Tennessee was up 7-6 at the time of the benching and Vandy scored 35 of the next 38 points after that. This would be a good time for Virginia Tech to fire Beamer, but I doubt that happens.
  6. I got offered this in a keeper league I'm in. We keep 3 players each and currently I have my 3 keepers (Cam/CJ/Julio). We have 2 RB/2 WR/2 Flex/1 TE/1 QB. I'm currently second in my division and if I win 2 of the final 3, I'm guaranteed to be in. He's out of it and looking to add a keeper. So here's the offer: I give: Julio Jones D Richardson C Ponder R Meachem K Rudolph K Britt I get: RGIII A Johnson D Jackson G Jennings F Gore B Celek My roster pre-trade: QB: Cam/Ponder RB: CJ/Bradshaw/Leshoure/A Brown/D Richardson WR: Julio/Wallace/Demaryius/Mike Williams/Meachem/Britt TE: Cook/Rudolph D/ST: matchups K: depends My roster post-trade: QB: Cam/RGIII RB: CJ/Bradshaw/Leshoure/Gore/Brown WR: Wallace/A Johnson/Demaryius/D Jackson/Mike Williams/Jennings TE: Cook/Celek I think this trade makes me better, but is it enough better to warrant trading my best keeper option going forward? I'm adding lots of old, kinda underperforming players and a lot will be riding the bench. It does give me options to try to flip later (trade deadline is Nov. 21). Thoughts?
  7. They've been Florida and Alabama homers for years. You should've heard them when Tebow was at Florida. I'm convinced Verne wanted to have Tebow's babies.
  8. He most likely lost his job today. Hopefully the Haslams still have some cash to go get a really good coach.
  9. Yeah, when I said "he" I was referring to JaWaun James, a junior. That wasn't written well, though. The biggest needs for the Titans are a pass-rushing playmaker (either at DE or LB) and an interior lineman to replace one of Hutchinson/Velasco/Harris. The pass rusher is probably the bigger need, considering we can't sack anybody.
  10. DE/G/S in the first 3 rounds for the Titans. Not bad, though Dallas Thomas seems really high in the 2nd round. If he leaves early (which I think he will if we make a coaching change), I think JaWaun James will be the first Tennessee lineman taken. Not extremely familiar with Bjoern Werner, though I know he's been really good at FSU.
  11. I wouldn't hesitate for a second; if it means getting Upton and Bauer I'm only holding onto Rizzo and Castro. Yeah, normally I'd be really hesitant to deal Shark, but I'd definitely do it if I was getting a pitcher like Bauer back.
  12. Bud Adams has put Titans coaches and players on notice. I'm starting to think there may actually be a chance he makes a coaching move this offseason.
  13. So long as James Franklin is alive you're pretty much guaranteed to score at least 40 on us, so don't worry too much.
  14. For what it's worth, Locker's only not starting because he's hurt. It's not a benching or anything. We'd suck with him, though, so he's not leading us to the playoffs.
  15. The Titans are really, really amazingly awful. Bud needs to strongly consider a coaching change after the season.
  16. Looks like Sean Payton will be a FA after this season.
  17. Very likely at this point.
  18. I didn't mean intentionally. I guess tank was the wrong word, I just don't want to see us with 7-8 wins again and miss out on the elite guys while still never contending for the playoffs. I don't remotely think they'll intentionally lose, but the Titans have already shown the ability to be really awful unintentionally and with our schedule, a 3-5 or 2-7 finish to the season isn't out of the question and that would put us in the top 10.
  19. Would he? He's never done it before on a substantial level and would have one of the trickier schools in the nation to recruit to (since we're 100% a national recruiting team with no in-state base). I know he's got a Super Bowl ring, but he got that nearly a decade ago when most of the kids he'd be recruiting were 5-7 years old. And he is very charismatic, but there's a lot of coaches who are really charismatic who are more proven in other areas (in the college game). I'm not saying he couldn't recruit, just that I don't know for sure that he could.
  20. Very good point. I think a lot of people on here - and perhaps even Cubs management - have gotten pretty gunshy on spending money, but this is not the type of deal we need.
  21. Titans season is basically over (probably was 2 weeks ago, but at least I had a sliver of hope then). With the Bears this week, the Indy game was a must win and we/the refs blew it. Now to tank for Jarvis Jones.
  22. At least Tennessee should win a game this week. I'm sick of this Jon Gruden to Tennessee talk. It's almost certain not to happen and I'm not even in any way convinced Gruden would be a good college coach. He's way too impatient with QBs and who knows if he can recruit. If Dooley's fired, my top 3 candidates: 1) Tommy Tuberville 2) Mike Leach 3) June Jones Petrino and Butch Davis would be great options as short term guys, but either would leave us in a lurch if we kept them too long.
  23. I thought it was the last 2 minutes that the clock stopped.
  24. Jared Cook requesting a trade. That would make me sad.
  25. I'm not sure Cook would help anybody block better. And if the Titans trade him for less than a 3rd rounder, I'll be pretty mad. I'm not sure he's worth more than that considering he's been inconsistent, but if somebody's not willing to overpay, we need to just keep him and hope to work out an extension.
