  1. I don't find it on my DirecTV listing.
  2. I've seen a couple of sites linking him to Dallas, but nothing of any real note yet. shocking Yeah, that should just be assumed. Kind of like linking big time stars to the Yankees.
  3. What kind of an option is it? Player, team or mutual?
  4. I've seen a couple of sites linking him to Dallas, but nothing of any real note yet.
  5. Thought ya'll might be interested, Kyle Vanden Bosch and Keith Bulluck are both game time decisions for Sunday.
  6. Works for me. I wasn't questioning anything, just curious where those quotes were coming from. Like I said, there was basically no chance either was even going to be considered for the job. Here's the link http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3682303 Also in the article: Not surprising, but still :( And thanks for the link, by the way.
  7. He's a great coach, don't get me wrong. But this was a move forced by fan unrest and apathy. The worst thing UT front office folks (primarily Mike Hamilton) could do to combat that is to bring in a longtime Fulmer offensive coordinator as head coach. No matter how much Cutcliffe deserves consideration (and he certainly does), there's no way Hamilton will consider someone fully tied in with Fulmer. Also, I really doubt Cut would have ever considered taking the job forcefully vacated by his longtime friend. He's not that desperate to move up in stature.

  9. You forgot about Panthers/Raiders. Oh wait, you said good games. It was too good to make the list.
  10. That's a heck of a rumor . . . :-)) From MrSEC.com - a very good website for those who are interested in the goings on around the SEC. For the record, John Pennington is an imbecile. Maybe Cowher would have interest (and yes, I've heard the rumors since the day he left Pittsburgh), but Pennington is still an asshat of epic proportions. Cutcliffe and Spurrier are off the Tennessee list. Where are you seeing this? Not that I thought there was the slightest chance that either would even be considered, I'm not seeing confirmation of it. Or are you just using common sense? :D
  11. Well, so far so good on keeping our commitments. According to the Knoxville News-Sentinel's site, all 17 of Tennessee's commitments are remaining. The biggest waiver is four star running back Jarvis Giles, who said he'll stay if running backs coach Stan Drayton stays, otherwise he's likely gone.
  12. I'm just glad Rex is starting for ya'll, ballhawking defenders love unsettled QBs. :D And what's the line on the Titans/Bears game? I haven't seen it yet.
  13. And before the season, who would have thought two of those teams would be the Titans and Panthers? The teams are: Tennessee (8-0), NY Giants (7-1), Carolina (6-2), Washington/Pittsburgh (7-2/6-2).
  14. you "can't shake the feeling" that you're not going to go 16-0? wow, step off that ledge man. What can I say, this team inspires confidence. :D It's actually very legitimate that we could go 14-0 if we win the next two weeks. We have Chicago this week and the Jags the week after. Both could be losses, but we can certainly win both. After that, we have the Jets, Lions, Browns and Texans all in a row. It would be a pretty major upset if any of those teams beat us (though Favre's deep passing worries me a bit). Not saying none of them can or will, but we'll be fairly clear favorites in each of those. After that, we have Pittsburgh and Indy left. Either could easily hand us a loss.
  15. I was very worried about this game previously when Kyle Orton was still healthy, but now that it's Grossman starting, I feel better. Grossman presents a different type of challenge than Orton. With Orton in there, the chances of a big play lessened greatly, but the chances of us forcing turnovers also were down quite a bit. With Grossman, I'm more worried about him beating us deep, but if the line can get pressure on him, he's far more likely to make a major mistake than is Orton. That said, the Bear offensive line has some age on it and I think Haynesworth, Kearse and KVB especially can beat them around the edges and (in Albert's case) run over them. I think we'll get good pressure and force Grossman into the bad version of himself. Offensively, we just need to take whatever a good Bear defense gives us. If they try to stop the run, we've shown we can move the ball adequately with the short passes. If they allow LenDale and CJ to run, let them run. I can't shake the feeling that we're going to lose eventually before the regular season ends (I've said repeatedly this team is not 8-0 good - close, but not quite). I don't think it will be this week, but it very well could.
  16. He's payed his dues. He's been the brain child coach of the Texas football coaching scene for awhile. He took a high school football team that didn't make the playoffs in 37 years before him to making it all ten years he was there with four or five state titles. He then went and worked under, guess who, Mike Leach. Briles is one of the better spread gurus out there, fits well with what's "it" in college football today. His spread is very similar to Leach's obviously, but he taught the importance of running backs in the spread to Leach, despite being a bit of a QB guru himself. He's more or less the Father of the Spread in the state. The big question is what direction the program wants to go towards. NFL pro style or college spread style. There are guys out there that fit both. Truly, that is the question of the offseason. I honestly have no idea which style coach Mike Hamilton (UT AD) is looking for, though with the hiring of Bruce Pearl he's shown he's not against innovative, modern type offenses. I don't have a strong preference which style we shoot for. I'm not one who thinks you can only win with a spread or that the spread is a gimmicky fad that will go away with time. If coached up and run properly, either a pro style or a spread can work fine.
  17. I don't take too much of what I hear from him seriously, but I enjoy his humor at times and don't mind him on the radio. Most of the info I take seriously comes from Jimmy Hyams, who I've found to be pretty reliable. That said, I'm quite sure Pennington was joking here. It was inserted at the end of an article on the website and he made it pretty clear he didn't put much stock into it.
  18. Level of competition wouldn't be a negative, though.
  19. Patterson's one of the coaches I'm more interested in (on my top 10 list). He wouldn't be a real exciting hire (could be a drawback in this situation), but I think he could be a solid one. Why do you think Briles would be a good fit, out of curiosity? I'm assuming you're talking about Tennessee still, and don't necessarily disagree, I'd just like to know why. He doesn't have a real long track record - or at least I'm not familiar enough with him.
  20. Exactly. And Tennessee is still regarded as one of the better SEC teams historically (though we're beginning to be in danger of losing that). Leach is fighting an uphill battle to make Tech this good consistently, while Tennessee has already been established as one of the top SEC teams. It's just a matter of reclaiming it here.
  21. Yeah and the Big XII is like the MAC when it comes to challenges. He should actually welcome going to the SEC. At least he'd be on somewhat more level ground with the rest of the major teams. Eh? I'm talking historically. Unless both teams make a dramatic shift on a highly consistent basis (doubtful), Texas Tech won't always be one of, if not, the best teams in the Big XII and Tennessee will not be one of the worst teams in the SEC. This year Tech is closer to the top of their conference than is Tennessee, but historically it's been the opposite.
  22. That's what I'm thinking. I doubt we'd go as high as Saban's Bama contract, but cost is not a real big concern for the university right now. The economy may be down, but I haven't heard that our bigger donors are struggling and the SEC just signed that mega-monster deal with ESPN and each school is getting quite the hefty chunk of it. Unless he just doesn't want the challenge (which I sincerely doubt), I see no way Leach turns down an offer from Tennessee - if they offer. They dont have to go that stupid high for him, even though they could afford it. Bama needed to do it to pry him away from an NFL salary. Leach makes $1.75M. Tressel and Rodriguez both make around $2.5M, i could see something similar to that. Yeah, I figured the new coach will get in the area of $2.5-3 million, which is roughly middle of the pack to slightly upper level SEC pay. Seems about right for a new hire.

  25. That's a heck of a rumor . . . :-)) From MrSEC.com - a very good website for those who are interested in the goings on around the SEC. I was hoping for a Cowher to PSU deal As silly as it is that Cowher might pass up the numerous NFL jobs he'd be offered if he said he's ready to come back, PSU would likely be one of the few jobs that might be somewhere in the realm of reality. Of course, at Tennessee he'd be just a few hours from his family in NC, so yeah.
