  1. Yeah, I was going primarily with currently employed head coaches. Of course, Norv would likely be high on a historically bad list as well. I thought strongly about Cable, but don't have any evidence other than he can't win with these players (probably nobody can) and Al Davis seems to like him. That's some pretty solid evidence against him, but not quite enough for the list.
  2. I would think if Hendry is considering Teahen, he'd be considering him as a platoon option with DeRosa. I doubt he'd want him as an everyday RF. That said, I still don't particularly want Teahen - especially if he costs much of anything useful. His career OPS against righties is .775. Ouch.
  3. I'm sure the idea is to try to keep him from leaving. You "guarantee" that he'll take a premier job in a couple or few years, he's more likely to stay.
  4. Del Rio has no business on this list and Marinelli is far and away tops. Turner has never systematically purged any of his teams of all talent to suit an antiquated style of football. Ah, but Turner has taken extremely talented teams (Chargers won 14 games two years ago) and turned them into crap (4-6, I think this year). I could see Marinelli on there over Del Rio or Childress, but the horrible suckitude of this year's Jags may be coloring my vision a bit. There is no doubt in my mind that Norv Turner is the worst coach currently employed in the NFL. By quite a longshot, too.
  5. Hey, I'm interested in how badly we'll get beaten down by Vandy.. . . . . Remember when beating Vandy was not even a question? Sad. Seriously, if Tennessee played Vandy, MTSU, Memphis, and Chattanooga, they'd probably go 2-2. Part of that is Vandy getting better (thanks Bobby Johnson) and part of that is a sign of how horrible this team is playing. But yeah, I miss the good ol days of auto wins vs Vandy and UK. And I tend to agree on the Tennessee schools - we'd beat UTC and Memphis and lost to MTSU and Vandy, I think. Ouch.
  6. Hey, I'm interested in how badly we'll get beaten down by Vandy.. . . . .
  7. He is having a pretty good year you know. They got very lucky in that Monday night game. That team still lacks a lot of discipline, too many stupid penalties. It's a heck of a rebuilding job.
  8. He's probably the last of the honorable mentions and I may be putting too much stock into this season, but he made a (fairly) tough choice with Warner over Leinart and he's got a Cardinal team that never wins at 7-3. I'm very fluid with Whisenhunt, but I don't think it's outlandish to have him there.
  9. I wouldn't put Andy Reid anywhere near even the worst five head coaches, much less the worst. My bottom five coaches off the top of my head (worst = 1): 1. Norv Turner 2. Marvin Lewis 3. Jim Haslett 4. Jack Del Rio 5. Brad Childress (Rod Marinelli and Romeo Crennel are close, and perhaps ahead of him) My top five coaches off the top of my head (best = 1): 1. Bill Belichick 2. Tony Dungy 3. Jeff Fisher 4. Mike Shanahan 5. Mike Tomlin (Jon Gruden, Ken Whisenhunt and Mike McCarthy are close)
  10. Yes, and the Browns only have a 6-0 lead. Sorry Mike Aller, but this is a battle of ineptness right now.
  11. Far too easy. The answer is Norv Turner. He is also the answer to the question: "Who is the worst head coach currently inexplicably employed in the NFL?"
  12. I've heard a lot of adjectives used to describe Al Davis over the years, but respected and admired are not two of them. Crazy, obsessive, loony, overbearing, incoherent, senile, ancient, incompetent, etc, etc. . . But yeah, never respected and admired. Fassel must be desperate to coach again.
  13. Jim Fassel, for whatever oddball reason, has become very interested in the Raiders' head coaching position.
  14. Cuse (wherever he is) should love this. Syracuse Head Coach Greg Robinson has been fired.
  15. and they take it off the board so we got a 13-13 tie and the first 11-10 game in nfl history, hell of a week Why did that touchdown get taken off the board? Was it determined that there was a forward lateral somewhere? Because I didn't see one. The ref claimed there was a forward lateral in there. Interestingly, the head ref (Scott Green) is now admitting he made a mistake.
  16. Sweet, Tennessee gets to lose to Vandy this week. Luckily, it'll be in Nashville and the Commodores won't get another win at Neyland. Jonathon Crompton will start this week for the Vols at QB with freshman B.J. Coleman as the backup. Obviously, I'm hoping Crompton plays well, but if not I definitely want to see if Coleman can complete passes. And the latest rumor (likely BS) for new UT head coach is Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. Things are getting silly.
  17. The Jags are now imploding. On the ensuing kickoff after the TD, Bironas' kick went out of bounds. Problem is, the Jag returner let it bounce off his foot and go out of bounds - thus, the Jags have the ball at their own 3.
  18. JUSTIN GAGE TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After trailing 14-3 at halftime, the Titans have stuffed the Jag offense twice and driven right down the field twice. The first TD was a 12-yarder to Brandon Jones and Kerry Collins just now hit Justin Gage for a 56-yard TD! 17-14 Titans
  19. Titans sucking it up right now. We'll probably take our first loss against the Jags. :x
  20. It's a wonder what getting rid of Ed Orgeron and bringing in a real coach will do for a team.
  21. Great effort by Randall Cobb on the desperation drive by Kentucky. Cobb moved the Wildcats down inside the Vandy 30, but couldn't convert on a fourth and 4. Looks as if Vandy will pull out the 31-24 win and receive bowl eligibility for the first time since the 80s.
  22. LSU charging back, just down 31-27 mid fourth.
  23. I think they confused the nicknames. They think they're playing the USC Trojans instead of the Troy Trojans.
  24. I struggle to consider anything about Wazzu to be Division 1-A. Considering their talent might not make them competitive in NAIA.
  25. Who has the worse QBs - Tennessee, LSU or Mississippi State? And are they the worst QBs in the nation? My answers are MSU and I can't think of any teams with worse QBs off the top of my head. Kevin Craft is horrible. Well if these guys are worse than Michigans current Qb situation then they must really suck the bone dry. Sheridan is junior walkon so i understand him sucking. Threet is RS Fresh with upside but he currently sucks. That's the problem, none of the Tennessee QBs have any upside. Since Crompton decided to suck this year, all we have are two career backup QBs (both 2 stars coming out, I believe). I'm just praying we hang on to Tajh Boyd. He may be our only hope at a decent season next year.
