  1. Cashner still pitching. Halman walks. Hubbard flies out to Guyer in center who throws out Halman at first. 2 down, none on. Limonta singles to center. Limonta steals second. Triunfel grounds out to Cashner. Heading to the 8th, TN leads 1-0.
  2. Castro grounds into a FC, Colvin out at second. Castro steals second. Canzler flies out. 2 down. Castro steals third. Castillo Ks swinging. Heading to the bottom of the 7th. TN up 1-0.
  3. OU doesn't get in on a QB sneak on third and goal from the 1. OU going on fourth. Delay of game called - OU has to kick a field goal. Great stand by BYU.
  4. That was a great stop by BYU's defense, but a bad PI call gives OU another chance.
  5. Colvin leads off the 7th by reaching on a throwing error. Castro now up.
  6. Cashner got a K, pop out and fly out to end the sixth inning. He's allowed just one hit. Heading to the 7th, Smokies lead 1-0.
  7. Announcers just confirmed Bradford is done for the night. Nothing more, though.
  8. 10-7 OU at halftime. Bradford was taken to the locker room before the team with his arm being cradled. It appears he just fell on it funny, but who knows.
  9. Sam Bradford just got hit on a blitz and he's down favoring his right shoulder significantly. He was just taken off the field.
  10. I was really happy with what I saw today from Tennessee. As I've said all day at the game and since it, it was only Western Kentucky, but the execution by the offense was excellent. Monte's defense was dominant (same as last year), but the offense (especially Jonathon Crompton) looked sharp and crisp. It'll be interesting to see how they look against UCLA and Florida the next two weeks. I think we can beat UCLA, but with Florida I'll just evaluate on how close we can keep it. The offense was extremely vanilla today (very likely by design), but it really was incredibly similar to watching USC (not surprising). Bryce Brown and Marsalis Teague are going to be really, really good I think.
  11. BYU just tied Oklahoma at 7 with 1:25 left before halftime. Oklahoma has been better, but both teams have been really sloppy.
  12. I wouldn't be interested at all in Lopez. Hudson would be my first option and Figgins intrigues me. Two of the past three seasons he's had OBPs of .393 and .404, but he's barely slugging .400 this year and he slugged .318 last year. He'll probably be too expensive, but for around what he makes this year ($5.7) I might think about a 1-2 year deal. He also has a career 74% stolen base percentage, so he's probably a net plus on the basepaths as well. Though it's been just 71% and 72% the past two seasons.
  13. How do you hire such a guy? this the same idiot that got fired at BC because he thought he was good enough to coach an NFL team? Yea. Jagodzinski was fired from BC because he interviewed for the Jets job that Rex Ryan got.
  14. Here's ESPN's take.
  15. There's a chance at this point. 2009 Fuld OPS: .739 2009 Sori OPS: .732 Fuld last 2 weeks OPS: .458 Sori last 2 weeks OPS: .921 Defense certainly plays a part and widens the gap in favor of Fuld, but offensively Soriano has been comparable, at least. Problem is, your 18 million dollar superstar shouldnt be comparable to a 28 year old AAAA player. I understand the knee issue, but I dont know why they arent shutting him down. we have 5 more years of him, so they should want him as healthy as possible, not limping around the bases and the outfield. I agree the best option would be to shut him down and try to get him healthy. I actually wasn't arguing in favor of Soriano there so much as just showing that he can still be more productive this year than Fuld. Ideally, however, that shouldn't be in question.
  16. Yeah, Tennessee opening against Western Kentucky this year after opening against UCLA and Cal the past three years will be nice. Of course then Tennessee gets UCLA and Florida back to back, but that's a different story.
  17. I actually picked Boise to win this one. Part of it is that I'm not completely sold on Oregon, but part of it was I am sold on Boise and Chris Petersen.
  18. Thanks hawkeyecub and Banedon. And I don't have a DVR. I keep planning on it, but haven't gotten around to it. But after hearing that NFL Matchup is still going, that may help motivate me to get one. I love that show. Once you get DVR you can't live without it. Yeah, I think it's the monthly fee holding me back (I have DirecTV and think I have to pay a monthly fee with them). Also procrastination, though.

  20. Honestly, I didn't know that until yesterday. There was a discussion about what the Titans would do with Cory Lekkerkerker (real name) and I found that he couldn't be placed on the practice squad because he had accrued too much NFL time.
  21. Boise's on the verge of blowing this one out. And let me add - I'm so happy college football is back.
  23. It was a great article and very informative - and I'm not even a Bears fan. It actually reminded me of a show on ESPN that I used to watch all the time called - I think - "NFL Playbook" or something like that. It was a 30-minute show with, usually, Merrill Hodge and Ron Jaworski breaking down different plays from games as a means of previewing upcoming games (for instance, if the Bears played the Titans, they'd break down how Cutler might attack the Tennessee secondary based on how the teams had run plays previously). It might've been the best show on ESPN, but it was on at like midnight or 1 a.m. I haven't seen it in some time, though. NFL Matchup? That might be it. It had Hodge, Jaworski and Suzy Kolber (I think) hosting it.
  24. There's struggling and then there's not being able to OPS .700. I wasn't really high on Fontenot entering the year, but I never would have thought he'd come near OPSing in the low .700s, much less have a .665 OPS in September. Here are some of the projections prior to the season: Marcel: .816 OPS Chone: .773 Zips: .758 Oliver: .768
