  1. I don't think it was. It was a clean hit. Very similar to the UGA/Ok St hit last week.
  2. Special teams not looking so hot right now.
  3. Hopefully he still has his power He still looks stout enough. He's closer to his USC weight and he had plenty of power then, so he should be good.
  4. LenDale looks a lot quicker this year. That's a good sign.
  5. I agree, im just saying someone will probably complain about it. Its 2 great defenses going at it, I love it. It's exactly what I thought it'd be. When these two teams play, there isn't going to be much scoring. Nice catch by Britt!
  6. You're in at http://www.northsidebaseball.com? Yep. I have the front page bookmarked, so I go there before heading to the message board part.
  7. I'll happily take that trade.
  8. Incredible catch by Polamolu.
  9. One of his rare misses. I'm liking the pace of the game so far, though.
  10. I'm in Tim. Front page looks great!
  11. I guess that's the difference between him and winning quarterbacks. Winning QBs play defense too apparently. Jay is selfish that way. Always has to be the quarterback. He should look at all the snaps Peyton and Brady have played on defense and use that as an example of how a winning QB does it.

  13. It's amazing how often this stat is misrepresented as being indicative of the play of an individual.
  14. Actually, one of the FO guys responded directly to that question: Thanks, I hadn't seen that. It still only raises more questions, though. Hentrich's issues are legitimate, but they're knocking Bironas down because he missed a couple of field goals, even after admitting that he hasn't had a down year yet? The kickoff defense average was bad last year, but the Titans also recorded the second most touchbacks in the NFL. They also held opposing returners to a 9.1 yard average, which is middle of the pack. They were also 7th in the league in pinning teams inside the 20 on punts. Titan returners were average at best last year, but both will be new this season (Finnegan likely returning punts and Javon Ringer likely returning kicks). Titans also finished last year middle of the pack (15) in ST, according to DVOA. I don't think the ST should be ranked that highly, but last in the league is overdoing it, I'd say. That's probably the least questionable ranking of the ones I mentioned, though. I still don't grasp the idea of the Steelers having an average defense this year.
  15. I kind of question those projections. The Titans having a top 5 offense and a 32nd ranked special teams, the Steelers having an average defense (13) and the Ravens with a 29th ranked offense are all really odd projections. Though if they're right about the Titans there (#5 offense and #6 defense), I'll be plenty happy.
  16. He may well start over Conley, but I kept hearing rumors that they were looking for another PG anyway. I like Conley, but I'm not so sure the team is sold on him (at least right now). I don't think he'll hold Mayo back at all. I could see them being down on Conley in the first half, but after the coaching change, he was a completely different player. I certainly wouldn't give up on him now. I'm hoping they don't, but with the way they've (apparently) been pursuing a point guard this offseason, they may have. If nothing else, they're not ready to hand the reins over to him yet. I'd dislike this Iverson signing if it was a 2-3 year deal, but at just one year I don't think it sets Conley back that much. And he may learn something on the court from Iverson as well.
  17. This isn't a hard and fast rule for me, but generally I figure the best 1-AA teams are comparable to the 75-100 range of 1-A teams. Navy has consistently been in the 30-60 range the past few years. Not an ironclad evaluation by any means - and maybe not accurate enough - but that's generally what I've seen.
  18. you're looking at Northern Iowa, UNI, not Northern Illinois, NIU, right? I'm assuming you are, but you keep getting the letters reversed, so I thought I'd check. Yeah, you're right. I was thinking about them as Northern Iowa University for some reason. I am talking about UNI.
  19. For what it's worth, Jeff Sagarin (who is part of the BCS formula) ranks 1-AA along with 1-A. Three of the past four years, he's had Navy ranked much higher than NIU. This year, he has Navy ranked 38 so far and NIU is 69.
  20. I wouldn't use the ten times argument, but I think they'd more than hold their own against Navy. I have a hard time buying into a triple option system working its course against every team. Just because it worked against OSU doesn't mean it works against other teams. It's easier said than done but if you can stop Navy's rushing game, you're going to be victorious. Not to mention I think OSU was looking ahead to its game against USC and took their game against Navy for granted, as much as it pains me to say that. It's true that every team won't have trouble stopping the triple option, but it just accentuates the talent on the team. They're not good because of the triple option, but it helps. There were three reasons, I think, that OSU had trouble with Navy. 1) looking ahead to USC 2) the triple option 3) Navy has solid talent All three of those played a part, I think.
  21. somewhere it has to be It sucks we gotta wait till Sunday Night. But its better then Monday Night. I'm kind of glad the Titans are playing tomorrow night. I can see them sooner, but I also may be working through the first half of the game.
  22. He may well start over Conley, but I kept hearing rumors that they were looking for another PG anyway. I like Conley, but I'm not so sure the team is sold on him (at least right now). I don't think he'll hold Mayo back at all.
  23. I could see them matching that.
  24. Of course, Iowa drops 15 spots, and Ohio State drops 2 spots after barely beating an arguably worse team. Navy's a solid team. Yeah, Navy's got some good talent and that triple option can be a difficult offense to defend. There's no comparison to Northern Iowa. Northern Iowa would have a good to great chance at beating Navy. Just because they're an FCS team doesn't mean they suck. It doesn't mean they suck, but just because Navy isn't a major conference, elite power doesn't mean they're equivalent to a good FCS team either. Navy's won 8-9 games for the past several years and has a good amount of talent on this year's team. They're not just some random mid-major team.
  25. I think Tennessee/UCLA could be competitive for that title as well. But yeah, those matchups should not be 2-3 in biggest games of the weekend. Houston at Oklahoma State. That'll be a really good game (has similar upset potential to OU/BYU), but I don't think it has the national draw that UT/UCLA or ND/Michigan have. It's one of the top games this weekend though. Whats the over/under, could be a high scoring game. Haven't seen it yet, but it's gotta be high.
