I know he plays for ND, so he has to suck, but Clausen's going to be right there. Of course, if he keeps playing at the level he's played at thus far, he might go this year. Yeah, Clausen will be a highly regarded NFL prospect, I think. After struggling the past couple of years, though, (for whatever reasons) I tend to think he'll stay one more year under Weis. If Weis is fired, though, Clausen may just go.

It's not, I just don't know the difference between numbers apparently. McCoy is 6'2". Not real short, but scouts tend to prefer the 6'4" to 6'6" range.

Like I said in an earlier post, a lot depends on how recovered Bradford shows himself. Mallet has better physical tools, but not by a huge margin. He's got a better arm (maybe much better), but Bradford is 6'4" - not particularly short. With a fantastic year, though, Mallet could vault ahead of all of these QBs.

Yeah, one and done would surprise me. Especially with the potential for a strong QB class this year - Hiller, Bradford, McCoy, Tebow (?), Devlin. Don't forget Snead is eligible as well, but I think he'll come back for another year considering that QB class. If he came out in 2011 he'd probably be the no doubt no.1 overall pick. I actually forgot about Snead, but it depends on how Bradford looks after he gets back from his injury. He's likely the first QB off the board and if Snead enters the draft, Bradford is likely the only guy ahead of him. If Bradford isn't fully recovered, Snead could slide ahead of him. If Snead stays, though, he and Mallet will be a nice duo at the top of the 2011 draft.

Yeah, one and done would surprise me. Especially with the potential for a strong QB class this year - Hiller, Bradford, McCoy, Tebow (?), Devlin. I wouldn't call that a strong QB class. Hiller and Devlin are both prototypical NFL type QBs. Both have physical assets NFL scouts will love. And both will draw the Flacco-esque comparisons. I could see both working their way into the first round with good to very good combines and pro days. Bradford is a big QB with a good arm and quite a bit of collegiate success. If he comes back from the injury and shows he's healthy, he'll be a very high pick. McCoy is a bit short (6'4"), but has some nice physical tools. I could see him being the fourth QB selected out of that group. I have no idea what to think of Tebow. I know what I think of him and what many others think of him, but will a team become enamored with his production and intangibles and decide they want to take a chance on him? There are plenty of highly respected NFL decision makers and former decision makers who have expressed their very strong interest in Tebow. He could also have a good to very good combine/pro day and vault up the board. Pat White was a second round pick, keep in mind, and Tebow is probably a better NFL prospect than him.

I would like this quite a bit, but unless somebody will take Milton's salary, we probably can't afford $10 million. I think the Cubs have enough overpaid 30-something outfielders on the team. If we're making a move to improve the team for next year, Cameron might be a better option than most. He'd likely only sign on a 1-2 year deal as well. I'd prefer a Seth Smith type deal for sure if we can do it, though. -

Bradley + prospect(s) for Meche while swapping salaries (Meche: 10: $12; 11: $12 - Bradley: 10: $9; 11: $12) Then look to deal Lilly or Z for a right fielder Meche was decent in 07 and 08, but struggled this year. However, he was hurt this year so he might rebound next year. He's 30, so he's getting up there, but he's not old enough to expect him to fall off a cliff. It might not be a great option, but it might be better than most. -

It's not often a guy racks up that kind of rushing yardage in a loss. That TD catch by Andre was unbelievable. That's a tough loss for the Titans. Yeah, the Titans seem to never have been able to cover Andre Johnson. I figured he'd get his yardage, but didn't expect Jacoby Jones, Slaton, Daniels, etc. to run free 10-15 yards downfield all day.

Titans game was a big disappointment. The secondary was extremely porous - though Andre Johnson seems to always have good games against us. The line is getting plenty of pressure, but the DBs aren't covering their men. I don't know if it's the scheme, if the players are playing worse or if they're just getting adjusted to the new scheme and calls. The offense has looked fine through two games as has the defensive line. But the special teams and secondary have got to improve if we want to even start thinking about playoffs. An 0-2 start is tough, but if we can win the next two (Jax and Jets), we can still split with the Colts/Pats and enter the bye week 3-3. We really need to win the next two, though. And Chris Johnson is an amazing football player. He's quickly becoming my favorite player in the NFL.

South Carolina had a great game against UGA's defense too. I'd want to see Mallet do this some more, but I think he has an outside chance.

Wait, there's a game going on? In the background. And during that game, Mario Manningham is showing the talent everybody said he had during the 2008 draft. He may well end up being a steal as a 3rd round pick.

Hopefully Tennessee will win this one fairly easily and improve to 2-2. If we can play similarly to how we did against Florida, we should have a shot at Auburn (at home) to improve to 3-2 through 5 games. Considering I'll consider 7-8 wins a successful year, I like that start. We just need to run the same offense the rest of the season that we did against Florida - 75% run and rely on the defense to make a couple plays.

While he doesn't meet the second half of your criteria, Eric Berry should be in the Heisman race - and high in it.

A few years ago Peyton Manning (still with the Colts) ran a fake spike play right before the half. Every defensive player thought he spiked it, so they all stopped. The Colts ended up scoring on the play (can't remember if he threw it or ran it), but it was called back because the refs thought he spiked it so they blew the play dead. I say all that only to point out that I don't know whether trick plays are always communicated to the refs or not, but it's happened before that trick plays will confuse even the refs.

Bastard. He apparently learned how to throw accurately during his year off after transferring from Michigan. He would just rifle it as hard as he could every pass when he played for UM. He's had pretty stellar accuracy so far tonight.

Great effort by Tennessee today. I expected the defense to slow down Florida for about three quarters and the offense to do very little, but I didn't expect the mini-comeback late by the offense. Considering I expected a 2-3 touchdown loss minimum, I'm not that disappointed in a 23-13 loss. I really think Eric Berry is the best defensive player (and maybe the best player period) in college football. He was absolutely all over the field today.

After next year, I'm pretty sure. If they don't get a new CBA worked out before next season then the 2010 year is uncapped. Then the CBA ends before the 2011 season. Here we go. This is an article from early last season.

If you trade Kosuke, who do you replace him with? We don't have anybody in-house who is likely to be as productive as Kosuke and the free agent market isn't awe-inspiring this year. And a batter having a .370-.380 OBP is very valuable.

I don't think anyone expected that, but he's had plenty of chances to drive in runs this season and has failed miserably; i would have considered 75-80 RBI's a realistic number for him this season and would have been happy with that. Baseball players are paid to be productive. There are numerous ways a player can be productive - driving in runs, getting on base, not making outs, playing good defense, etc. Bradley is one of the best players in baseball at getting on base and not making outs. He also plays adequate defense. Thus, he has been productive. Would it be nice if he were more productive? Of course. But driving in runs is not the only way for him or any player to be productive. Any player who gets on base 40% of the time and hits for any level of power is a very valuable player and absolutely is productive. We shouldn't dump Bradley for nothing, we should take his .400 OBP and find ways to drive him in with the hitters around him.

i have a hard time believing that, considering that he didn't pitch many innings in 2006-07 and has just been average this season. He's making $7 million this year. You think he'll get a pay cut down to $5-something million? Nope, that's not how arbitration works usually; i would expect 8.5 million for him if it goes that far I know that. I was trying to figure out exactly what Truffle was saying.
