  1. The upward trend continues for Matthew Stafford. @ NO: 42.3 comp % - 0:3 TD:INT - 27.4 rating v MIN: 60.0 comp % - 1:2 TD:INT - 56.5 rating v WAS: 58.3 comp % - 1:0 TD:INT - 87.8 rating @ CHI: 66.7 comp % - 1:1 TD:INT - 89.6 rating Still not necessarily predictive of anything, but a slight upward trend of any sort is a good one.
  2. Not sure if you were serious, but they do, in fact, exist. They're both 1-AA teams. I'm pretty sure he wasn't being serious. You're probably right.
  3. Auburn definitely looked worlds better than last year. Malzahn is a great offensive coordinator. I thought the Tennessee defense played great, but the offense was lackluster (at best). I couldn't figure out why in the world Lane Kiffin wanted to throw the ball as much as he did. We need to run the ball much more than we did Saturday if we have any chance of winning some of these middle of the road SEC games. I will say though, the final pass of the game - the TD to Denarius Moore - was a great throw.
  4. Tennessee almost definitely won't beat Georgia. We'll give them a good game probably, but as usual likely will get great defense and very little offense. Have to beat one of SC/UGA/Bama along with Memphis, Kentucky and Vandy to make a bowl game at this point.

  6. Just out of curiosity, what is it about Fredi that makes him so appealing to you? Him coming out of the Braves organization (and from coaching under Bobby Cox) had me somewhat interested when we hired Lou, but are you more familiar with him?
  7. That's a good question. I could see Hendry insisting that Lou agree to Ryno being promoted, but would Lou agree to allowing Sandberg to teach a philosophy he doesn't agree with? I don't know that Hendry would do that and I don't know that Lou would stick around for that.
  8. And it wasn't Kerry Collins that kept the Titans from making the Super Bowl last year. With weapons around him he's fine, but there weren't enough weapons last year. This year, the entire team is awful. We don't win 13 games last year with a more mistake prone QB, but I don't think there are a lot of QBs that would have taken us further. I think last year's team went about as far as the overall talent allowed. Sure, I doubt Brady or Manning gets much more than 13-3 out of last years Titans but if you put one of those guys on the Titans last year and you're thinking that team is a heavy favorite to at least get to the Super Bowl. Game managers are great and all but you need a QB who can carry a team at some point in the playoffs. On the right team a game manager can be part of a Super Bowl team (2000 Ravens w/Trent Dilfer, 1999 Titans w/McNair, 2005 Steelers w/Roethlisberger). Again, it's definitely preferable to have a better QB than a game manager, but the "game manager" tag is not equivalent to the mythical "gritty" tag in MLB. There is a value in being a game manager (not as much as being a great QB, though) while there is not to being "gritty." And by a QB taking the Titans further I didn't mean a better record than 13-3, I meant taking them further in the playoffs. Once CJ went down, there just weren't enough weapons for the Titans to win and short of Peyton, Brady, Brees or Rivers I'm not sure there's a QB who could have pulled that game out.
  9. Why don't you like him? Disagreement in (admittedly perceived) philosophy. From what I have been able to glean, Sandberg preaches a more aggressive style. Would the hitting coach be able to override the philosophy of the manager? Lou seems to preach patience to a significant degree (especially considering he hired Perry), so would he condone Ryno coming in and promoting a highly aggressive style? For the record, I wanted to keep Perry and I wish we would have kept Joshua as well.

  11. I disagree with this. Being a game manager in the NFL is actually a good thing. Obviously you'd rather have a Peyton, Brady, etc. type QB, but a game manager in the NFL (i.e. a QB who may not make big plays, but doesn't make many mistakes) is a valuable thing. Kerry Collins was a game manager for the Titans last year, for example.
  12. yeah, but they made the mistake of trusting their defense. Yeah, they should have onside kicked it after making it 35-28.
  13. Chargers are flirting with coming back in this game.
  14. If the Steelers lose tonight, then the AFCs best two teams last year will start this year a combined 1-7. Wow.
  15. You don't completely abandon what works best, but you do alter it. LenDale is primarily a short yardage/goal line/burn the clock running back and none of those were applicable for most of the game (or season so far) so he hasn't been used much. He's a situational back and the situation never really came up to use him much.
  16. If the defense were playing well and there was any thought we could slow down their offense, I'd agree with you. But if we're down 10 and it takes us 8 minutes to drive down and score and then we can't stop them, we're not gaining any ground plus we're shortening a game that we're trailing.
  17. At least we decided to be terrible in a year that we can draft Eric Berry. I guess that's the bright side . . .
  18. At 0-4 it's time for Vince. Fisher may not want to do it, but only one team in NFL history has come from 0-4 and made the playoffs and we sure didn't look like a playoff team today.
  19. I agree with you at this point on Vince. Might as well go with Vince and see what he can do this year in preparation for next year. As for going more with LenDale, Fisher still apparently thinks we can win this. If that's the case, getting 2-4 yards a carry won't get us 27 points in a half. We need the big play and that comes from CJ. Yeah the LenDale comment was more about for the future. LenDale has like 25 carries all season. I've been wanting more LenDale too to start games, but we've been in too many holes to really use him consistently this season.

  21. Kerry back in at QB. 30-3 Jags
  22. The Jags are about to make this thing 27-3 and the defense has shown no signs that it's even on the field.
  23. This Titans team feels like the 08 Cubs playoff team. You just sit in amazement wondering, how?
  24. I voted BJ Upton because he'll cost more in prospects than money. I doubt the rumors abound about the Cubs being interested in big-money guys this offseason.
  25. Yeah, sorry. I should have worded it "trades of guys like Jones and Neifi".
