  1. haha. I'm not sure what's worse up to this point -- Minnesota and Dallas at 3 and 4 or Tampa Bay and STL at 30 and 32. The Lions at 29 is pretty bad too.
  2. I'd be really interested in Uggla, but not at the price the Marlins are likely to demand. Rumors have had them asking for a couple arms and two or three legs in negotiations for Uggla.
  3. My winning streak is going to be snapped as well. I might have had a chance if I had pulled Gates from my lineup, but I didn't have a chance to check before the games Sunday and hadn't heard anything certain beforehand. 5-4 is ok, but I need to get hot again quickly.
  4. Only 1 non-BCS team ranked 12 of higher is guaranteed, which would of course be TCU. Ok, I forgot it was a 1-team restriction.
  5. I thought non-BCS conference teams ranked 12th or higher were guaranteed a BCS bowl berth? Am I making that up or remembering it wrong?
  6. I doubt they allow one if they can help it.
  7. Tennessee/Ole Miss is going to be tough. It sounds like Masoli is going to play and I just don't know that we can slow them down enough. Hopefully we can score on them, but we may well lose in a shootout. Playing at home is big and coming off the Memphis win should have the players' confidence high, but Ole Miss is the better team so Bray will have to play very well and, hopefully, the offensive line will block a little for him. Ole Miss probably wins, but if we can pull off the win, I feel a whole lot better about sweeping November.
  8. This kind of thing happens every year with the SEC I'll go ahead and say it for everyone. the SEC has always been overrated. This year I think it is very much. LSU did beat Alabama, but they also barely squeaked out a win against North Carolina's second and third stringers. Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn are really good teams with flaws, Georgia and Florida are talented underachievers and South Carolina and LSU are up and down teams. Mississippi State is overachieving. Otherwise, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss are bad teams.
  9. That's pretty cool. I've been excited about Bray since Lane started going after him and I heard the kind of arm he has. The more I've seen of him, the more I've liked him. Jim Chaney is going to have a lot of fun with Bray and these receivers in the next couple of years.
  10. I never thought 10 wins in 2012 was out of reach, I just don't expect it. And that said, the only thing the Memphis game convinced me of is that Memphis is truly awful. It was exciting, don't get me wrong, but I just don't know how much I can take from us dominating probably the worst 1A team in the nation. Bray looked terrific and some of his throws were perfect darts. He got away with a couple of his TD passes, but I really liked what I saw from him. The line is still pretty bad, though, since even Memphis was able to get consistent pressure on Bray. If nothing else, it was a great momentum builder for a young team that really needed it. Hopefully it gives the team the confidence it needs to sweep November, but the Ole Miss game still really concerns me. Kentucky will be tough, but Ole Miss is the game I really don't know that we can win.
  11. Jacques McClendon is an offensive guard who is well over 300 pounds who, to my knowledge, has never caught a pass in his life. Yet the Colts are going to use him as a tight end Sunday. It'd probably only be as a blocking TE, but I'd love to see Jacques roll out for a pass at some point.
  12. Still think it's more for depth, but Worley moved into 3rd place nationally for completions in a high school career. He's behind only Ben Mauk and JR House. It ought to be an interesting QB battle next year, though I kinda hope they just give the job to Bray and redshirt Worley. That'd give Worley two years to start after Bray graduates.
  13. Johnson isn't a good defensive first baseman. In fact, short of trading for Adrian Gonzalez, I don't know that there's a good defensive first baseman out there this offseason who's a good option. Not that trading for AGonz is a bad idea . . .
  14. I think Mayo went down for the year midway through last season, I wonder if that's a reason for it? I haven't watched the Patriots much this season and certainly haven't been following their linebackers closely when I have, but Mayo was pretty awesome his first year and a half.
  15. Unless he's really fallen off and I haven't noticed, Jerod Mayo. And what Belichick's done is take a chance on young, very talented players and it's paid off. Hernandez and Tate just needed a shot and the system fits their talents well. It really has been a good job by Belichick, though they've also gotten some luck this year.
  16. i'd rather do this than spending 40 mill of cash on a first basemen who can't field. Dunn can field a little at first. He can't field at all in the outfield.
  17. That's the word going around these parts. :D There are definitely reasons to think this has all been made up by put off Mississippi State alumni. I'm not in any way convinced of the truth of the claims. However, there were plenty of reasons to think Cam was going to be really, really good. He was very highly touted coming out of high school, has the huge frame and arm to be really good and his athleticism has never been in question. Being this unbelievable good is a surprise, but Auburn had to know it was getting a quarterback who could be really good when Cam came in. Again, though, that doesn't mean they paid him $200K to come to Auburn
  18. Maybe they're just more obvious about it?
  19. Yeah, that's what I figure.
  20. i'd be embarrassed and very unhappy about it if AU did anything wrong. I understand the SEC hatred is thick on this board...but let's see how this unfolds. auburn has a history of penalties in the past. this could be interesting. I don't see much of a chance that they'd axe a very prominent program. Alabama has probably done more in its time and it's still around.
  21. Kenny Rogers the country singer. He should have known you never count your money while you're sitting at the table. There will be time enough to count it when the dealing's done. I've now got the Gambler going through my head.
  22. Kenny Rogers the country singer.
  23. Get that middle finger under control, sir. You should be honored to be flipped off by Bud Adams, young man.
  24. I was actually the one who convinced Fisher and Reinfeldt to claim Moss. Maybe I'm Bud Adams in disguise . . .
  25. I think we can matter in a couple of years, I just don't know how likely it is. I'm generally very optimistic, but I'm trying to be sure to weight the optimism with realism too and not get too gung-ho (not saying you are, by the way). I'd just hate to get my expectations higher than are realistic and then take it out on Dooley if we don't reach them. Somehow I forgot about Lathers, I really like him. I see 2012 as similar to this year, but much better. This year, our starters can hang with any team in the SEC, but we get blown out when we start bringing guys in off the bench. By 2012, I see the starters as capable of winning the SEC, but they'll be held back by too much youth and inexperience on the bench. I think it'll take one extra year to get the depth settled and strong enough for us to realistically compete for an SEC title. The starters will be fine, whether the depth can keep up the starters' level of play is my question. I really hope you're right and I'm wrong, though. I'd love to be very much in the SEC title hunt in two years.
