  1. I'm putting this in discussions, because I hope it will generate some good discussion about the franchise, but if the mods deem it a rant, feel free to move it. After I stopped reading through the first 60+ (premium) pages of the Soriano thread, I felt that I need to walk away because my head was spinning. Here's the thing: I consider myself a realist Cubs fan. I'm not one of the lemmings who would fill the park regardless of the team on the field. I'm not a fan who sees everything through blue-colored glasses. However, I know my limitations. What I am not is good with statistical knowledge. Granted, I'm learning as I go along, and being a member here has helped a lot. I still don't know what EqA is or some of the other stats used in the Soriano thread. When I get a chance, I will look all that up, and maybe I'll have a better understanding of players. The real issue is, I've come to the conclusion that I am pretty numb to anything Cubs at this point. Yeah, I'm glad they did something, but like most here I am not entirely happy about what effects the AS contract could have on the future. BUT ... I am willing to forgo any judgement -- positive or negative -- until I see how the entire off-season unfolds. I am neither optimistic or pessimistic. At this point, it's just there for me. Unfortunately the Cubs as an organization have allowed it to come to the point (based on recent performance), where the off-season is a big game of "What Have You Done For Me Lately?" We kept A-RAM! But what have you done for me lately? We re-signed Wood for considerable less money! But what have you done for me lately? We signed Mark DeRosa to shore up second base! But what have you done for me lately? We traded for Neal Cotts! But what have you done for me lately? We signed Alfonso Soriano -- a top FA!! But what have you done for me lately? I'm still not running out for tickets, and unless there are MORE and more importantly SIGNIFICANT upgrades happen, I'm not even sure how many games I'd go to in 2007.
  2. Hasn't been determined yet... pending other moves still. Piniella has alluded that the Cubs are still looking for a CF. Jones is likely to be traded (or at least a strong effort). Bruce Miles has said in this thread that Murton is "likely safe".
  3. And apparently never will either...
  4. Most reports have it pending a physical.
  5. Looking at Rotoworld, they think we're done signing offensive players; citing that LAA or BOS will get Drew. If Drew goes to Boston, LAA would aggessively pursue Manny. I think LAA has to be tired of losing out to the Cubs in these signings, but I'd like to make them more mad if possible. :)
  6. Those are tasks for Marketing not media relations.
  7. Can his name be So as well? Because I'm all about making the headline-writer's job easier. :D
  8. Yay, Mark and Jacque can be work-out buddies. :-k
  9. IBL (always wanted to do that... :) )
  10. Where's Shawon Dunston's back injury from lifting his kids from the car?
  11. Ah yes... it's time to go home. #-o ](*,)
  12. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c263/mgoedken/prod.jpg I know I've had a long day at work, but I don't get it. :? 8-[
  13. Why kidnap him? Show up to Naples, Florida with a baseball mitt, and collect a payday! =D>
  14. Not sure if this is in one of the thread monstrosities, but I don't have all day to scan/read. If it is, then feel free to delete this.
  15. Wrong. She finished 5th in 2004; which was won by Christy Hemme (now a TNA Knockout). Ashley won in 2005.
  16. You're my new hero! She's the only reason I press play while Fast-Forwarding through the rest of RAW. * and btw, Maria is a good reason to hijack a thread.
  17.
  18. The same blurb you reference, says that the Marlins also said Delgado wasn't available either last year... and was traded 2 weeks later. What is not likely to happen is Willis being shopped. Won't stop them from listening.
  19. That name sounds familiar... didn't we have him in our system? Or is that another Jennings I'm thinking of?
  20. As dumb as it sounds, you'll hear a lot of "laying the foundation for future deals (ie. trades)" done at these meetings.
  21. Cubs: Prior (un-named/home), Sosa (road gray, fashion jersey), G.Hill (#4 custom home w/name), Leiber (home authentic). I had a Kieschnick jersey made (gray road), but I out-grew it. Phillies: Rolen home replica D-Rays: Grieve, home replica Indians: Sabathia, home authentic Angels: Percival, Road gray replica (old logo with wing) Reds: Dunn, home vest authentic
